  1. I think last minute cold feet are a very, very common phenom. I had my first 'almost panic attack' last night, and I still have more than 2 weeks to go. I feel panic when I think about what I won't be able to do anymore (or what I imagine I will have to give up). When I feel the apprehension and doubt, I just think about all the times I lost and regained, and how I have totally failed at controlling my portions. I know I need to do this for my health. Good luck Aaron.
  2. I hope you don't think I was being snarky or saying this is wacko, because I was not. I would never do that, I was making an analogy. SORRY to have offended you; it was not my intent.I won't comment again.
  3. In 3 months??! That does not count as "waiting".
  4. WTH! How can they "not accept" a weight?
  5. August 1st. Wish me luck. I'll give y'all previews.
  6. New record for longest wait.., 22 months!
  7. I think this is the new record for shortest wait... 5 months.
  8. It upsets me that some people have such fast resolution, and schedule surgery only 7 months from their first doctor visit; while others (like me) get strung along for 11, 12, even 13 months. It feels unjust and unfair, so we're frustrated. I would have LOVED to have moved through the process that quickly- I would have been sleeved March 1st instead of having to wait until August 1st.
  9. And I should add that my psych evaluation, the therapist demanded to see me again because I admitted I was abused by my mother. Another month setback. And one month, I couldn't get to my PCP for my monthly visit during the mandatory 6 month supervised diet and exercise, so there was another month lost. Just many many delays, most of it was insurance snafus.
  10. Insurance requirements, and insurance incompetence, and insurance LIES: I had a two month delay after they told my surgeon that the procedure wasn't covered- IT IS, but it was up to me to PROVE it!
  11. I'm actually JEALOUS of al the people who have gone thru this process from start to finish in LESS than one year. You are all lucky! I'm somewhat bitter because of how long it's taken. I haven't heard of anyone else's pre-surgery journey taking as long as mine!
  12. My surgery date is next month- exactly ONE YEAR after my first doctor visit. I also wish it didn't take this long. There are many hoops to jump through. Don't feel bad, we all have to do it.
  13. OMG I am so glad I'm not the only person who wept when forced to confront past demons during my psych evaluation. I tried to keep it together and not make a scene, but some of the memories leaked out of my eyeballs anyway. The counseler seemed so taken aback, I instantly feared that she'd never seen this happen before... maybe I imagined it... but she seemed a bit shocked by some food-related abuse issues (mother fed us adult-sized portions and beat us for not cleaning our plates). Thanks for the responses.
  14. But disordered eating is the #1 cause of obesity! And eating disorders fall under addiction & impulse control in psychotherapy. Now I'm scared. I feel as if I shoud've withheld more, but I was very frank and forthcoming because after all, that's what I was there to talk about. Telling my secrets was painful, so I teared up. I feel so stupid for spilling my guts and I'm worried how it might affect the decision.
  15. I'm wondering what could get a person denied here. What would rule someone out as a surgery candidate, and what is an "ideal" candidate? My psychologist had some very strong reactions to my answers about my childhood experiences. Now I'm scared.
  16. Same here, but I've spent enough time reading threads that I am still scared that insurnace will deny me at the last moment, even after jumping through all the hoops.
