    With alot of financial problems last month, I thought for sure I would not be able to have my surgery until after thanksgiving. Well, last night my older car ( which has been for sale for a month ) finally sold for the asking price - the buyer took it to a mechanic before buying and was told the car was too good to not buy.
    Now, I have the co-pay for the doctor and hospital. Just waiting for the ins approval.
    Thank You, Jesus!
    in His timing - I have to keep reminding myself.

    Teriyaki Turkey Burgers
    4 turkey burgers ( you could make your own, but I'm lazy).
    1 tsp. sesame oil
    4 pineapple slices
    1 tbs. pineapple juice from the slices .
    1 Tbs no msg, low sodium teriyaki sauce/glaze
    I put the oil in my electric fryer and distributed it with a pastry brush. Fried the burgers 7 minutes on each side.
    Mix the juice and teriyaki sauce. For the second side of the burger, I brushed the burger with the teriyaki/pineapple sauce mixture.
    Brushed the pineapple slices with the mixture and broiled for 2 minutes.
    Add pineapples to the burgers.
    Makes 4, but I only ate 1/2 ( I am pre-op)
    My finicky family loved them.

    I cannot thank all of you for your ideas. I was just eating the yogurt plain and trying to convince myself it tasted good ( wasn't working). I am going to experiment tonight. I am a pre-sleever and compiling a cookbook for the "after".

    I've always liked the salmon burgers; just bought the mahi mahi on Saturday. But, the chicken burgers at Sam's are out of this world. I use the whole grain buns; I have a wheat allergy.

    I have 5 kitties and a rottweiler (birds and fish too) and I love when Molly ( my black cat) tries to get under the door. She loves to chase paper, so I wad up the toilet paper wrapper and shove it under the door, so I can go potty in peace.

    I am in stage 3 kidney disease. I am so glad to read what you wrote. When I had my blood work done, the nephrologist said my Protein was fine, but my Calcium was up a little and suggested I give up the yogurt for a while. I have lactose intolerance ( so, no real milk products ). So, I gave up the yogurt and only taking calcium supplements, and the test was fine this time.

    I am glad I will not have to give up salads forever.
    Will I ever be able to have homemade stir fried veggies ( I use very little olive oil and blot the veggies gently) ?

    I live in Central Florida and had my sleeve done in Orlando at the Celebration Center. It is the only Center of Excellence in Bariatrics in the state. Dr. Keith Kim was highly recommended to me by some surgeons in Miami. Look him up...they have a website. Good luck, and if you have any questions, please hit me up.

    I chose to go a nutritionist for 6 meetings, rather than go to my pcp. I was weighed at the meetings and given knowledge of good and bad fats, carbs, etc. I think they ( the ins co ) go by what you weighed at the onset; not what you've lost. We all can lose weight...but keeping it off...
    Hence the surgery tool for help losing and keeping it off.

    @MinaT I cannot have aspartame either. I bought Knox Gelatin and added 4C diet drink mix ( it contains sucralose ).
    Edy's has sugar free ( also sucralose ) ice pops.
    Hope that helps.

    I found some gouchos at target in the plus size section. Merona brand. They are so super comfy. They are made of soft cotten and the waist band is wide and fits comfortably I wore them in the hospital and home from the hospital and for the first few weeks all the time after surgery. I'm wearing them now..lol these hit around mid calf and they also run a bit big so I would try on a smaller size if you do get them. Also another bonus they are super easy to take in once you drop sizes I've had to have them udjusted twice. Hope this helps

    I don't know about y'all but I sure get a lot of fun, humorous or just fantastically inspirational emails all the time. Some I get more than once and many times I think about sharing them here... just in the off chance there is one person who might need to see it at that very moment.
    I received one this morning that absolutely needed to be shared... so here goes:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio .
    "To Celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.
    My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
    1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
    3. Life is too short – enjoy it.
    4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and
    family will.
    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
    6. You don't have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.
    7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
    8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
    12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
    13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
    14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye But don't worry; God never blinks.
    16.. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
    17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.
    18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
    19. It's never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.
    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't
    save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
    22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
    25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will
    this matter?'
    27. Always choose life.
    28. Forgive but don’t forget.
    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
    32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
    33. Believe in miracles.
    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
    35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
    37. Your children get only one childhood.
    38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
    39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd
    grab ours back.
    41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have not what you need.
    42. The best is yet to come...
    43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
    44. Yield.
    45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
