Thanks everyone! I am going to give it 110%. I've been reading everything today. My kids think I'm obsessed. Naw!!!!

It's certainly a personal decision, but I've decided to be totally open about it.
Basically, when I thought about it, it occurred to me that this surgery isn't something to feel ashamed about, so I'm going to treat it the same way I would treat getting shots in my knees or going to my yearly physical...pretty matter of factly.

I shared with a few co-workers and my immediate family. The problem I have is those people sharing my news with other people. I asked my wife and family to keep it private, but we know how that goes. I just told____and she told_____ and they told____. I just want to be able to tell my own story. If someone shows interest in surgery, I would disclose my surgery, other than that it would depend on the mood I'm in. I don't have much time to entertain haters. I'm trying to make up for lost time.

I went on my initial consult with a weight of 440. I went into surgery after my pre-op diet with a weight of 423 (give or take per my surgeon). I weighed 416 on my 1 week post op visit. I plan on getting down to 200 pounds. My best friend had VSG 1 year ago, and he went from 438 to 230 in a year! I hear that men losr faater and he has been very dedicated in working out and eating right. I know how you feel with the people who say " you don't look like you weight that much". I just say, " Everybody carries weight differently". And know I surely do, You will do well. Praying for your insurance approval, and safe surgery and speedy recovery!!!!!!

I am one year out today and statrted out at 460 highest weight, 450 when I first went to the surgeon for the first time . 410 when I had surgery and today 234 I still have 54pd to go and know it will happen. I do have saggy skin but not as bad as I thought. i feel great. you will do wondrful just keep your eye on the prize. A New You.

Welcome!!!!! I am almost 5 months post-op and the time has just flown by.....so much fun to get up each morning now.....it's a wonderful adventure and every day I am thankful I bought this ticket to a new life! I cannot wait to go the amusement park and not stand in fear awaiting if I will fit in the dreaded seat or not!

I can't wait to wear heels again & not worry about swelling in my ankles as well as being able to shop at Express & Kohls

I can't wait to shop at a regular size store with my friends instead of avoiding shopping with them.
I also can't wait to be competing in sports again. Right now I feel like I don't get asked to go for runs or walks because I am too big!
I'd also can't wait to sit in my car with a thick winter coat and turn the wheel without holding my breath!
How about walking through the sand at the beach without stopping half way there and stop and rest while the rest of my family is running.
