That sounds like me. Since surgery 10 weeks ago and losing 51 pounds, my heat intolerance is so much better. It's been over 100 degrees here for weeks and yes, it still gets to me. It just isn't as bad as it was. I've also noticed getting chilly sometimes in my office and prior to surgery that never happened. In the winter, the most I ever wore was 3/4 length sleeves and never a coat and only a lightweight jacket when I was outside. I never used my heat in the car either. I'm interested to see what I will be like this winter.
Hang in there. The heat intolerance will get better as you get skinnier.

Some people have a very easy time getting fluids down really early postop. The nurses were saying I was a super hero at that when I was in the hospital. Sometimes, early on, I would wonder if my sleeve was working or if I even had one. Okay, not really wonder if I had one, bit it does cross your mind when things go down so easily. Trust me, when you get to solids, you will see a huge difference. I'm almost 10 weeks and am reminded how small my tummy is every time I eat. It just won't hold much! Yippee for that!

My diet is very Protein filled. I am on full diet now so I can eat anything my sleeve can tolerate. Here's some ideas for you once you get off restricted diet:
eggs (fixed any way), high Protein Cereal, yogurt, cottage cheese, meat (any low fat kind you can think of), cheese, veggies, fruit, Peanut Butter, nuts & seeds, beef jerkey, Pork rinds, Beans, Protein Bars. With all the different kinds,of meat and all the meat recipes out there, you should never get bored.
Oh. And you don't have to eat Breakfast food for breakfast. I've been know to have deli meat roll ups that I put pieces of string cheese or laughing cow cheese in.
    Good luck to you!

I think a lot of us are afraid we can't do it. I was one of those, but took the leap of faith and had surgery almost 10 weeks ago. I'm so glad I did as I'm down over 50 pounds now.

This is so very true. I would highly recommend purchasing one up front of your surgeon doesn't put one on you after your surgery.

Be cautious with protien shots. Almost all of them are garbage. Look at the ingredients, if it lists collagen, don't buy it. Your body cannot digest collagen Proteins.< /p>

I can tell you are a non-smoker. A puff or two for a former smoker would never be enough. It usually leads to starting smoking again full force and a long time before quitting again. I quit 6 1/2 years ago and although I never crave them anymore, I would even trust myself with a puff or two.

Back~To~Amy got a reaction from allmyjoy in A Perspective On Stalls & Gains
First of all, I'm only 9 weeks and 2 days out so the perspective I'm offering here is what I call the "newbie stall or gain" and not the stalls and gains of those of you get who are much farther out than me and a lot of us I see post about stalls.
Since being released to eat soft foods, my diet has pretty much been the same. I usually eat 600 to 800 calories a day and for the most part, my intake is closer to the 800 calorie mark than it is to the 600 calorie mark. I weigh everyday, but only record my weight on my blog every Monday. When I weighed in on Monday July 30th, the scale showed a gain of two pounds from the prior Monday's weigh in. I had done nothing different that I could pinpoint as the cause of this gain. I wasn't happy about it, but knowing that it sometimes happens, I moved on from focusing on it. Throughout that week, I continued to weigh everyday as I normally do. The scale would show I was up one day and down one day but it wouldn't consistently go down. I was gaining and losing the same 3 pounds all week. When I weighed on Saturday my scale said 261.8. That is only .6 lower than my previous Monday's weigh in. I thought surely I was in for a little loss or a gain again in 2 days when I weighed in and recorded that weight. Sunday, though when I weighed the scale showed me losing 5.6 pounds overnight. It shoked me so much that I weighed 4 more times just to make sure it wasn't my scale going bonkers and yep, I'd "lost" 5.6 pounds overnight. I wasn't sure though that it would stick. I was hopeful, but doubtful. Then came Monday morning. I woke up, peed and hopped on the scale afraid of what I'd see. The scale showed exactly 1 pound heavier from Sunday's weigh in but it gave me a weight loss of 5.2 from the previous Monday's weigh in. It felt really good to put that in my blog considering the week before I had to put a 2 pound gain. Anyway, on to this week. So Monday, I weighed 257.2. On Tuesday, I weighed 255.6. I'd lost 1.6 pounds overnight and was down 49 pounds total. Yay! On Wednesday, I weighed 254.8. Another loss this time in the amount of .8 overnight. I was now only .2 pounds away from hitting the 50 pound mark. And all that brings me to this morning. I got on the scale and it said 253.2. Wow! I couldn't believe it. I'd lost again overnight. This time 1.2 bringing me to a total of 51.40 pounds gone forever.
So, my point to this is you have to look at the whole picture of weight loss and not just what happened today or over the past week or two or three. The week I gained 2 pounds was no different than this week where I've lost 4 pounds in only 3 days. I've been very consistent with my program and there just is no logical reason for what has occurred. Okay, yes there probably is but it is probably stuff a scientist would have to explain and we wouldn't understand anyway unless of course one of us here is a scientist. Anyway, I know that sometimes it is hard to look beyond what is going on at the present, but we really need to sometimes in order to keep our sanity. Stalls and gains will happen and we will hate every minute of them but when we step back and look at the overall picture, it will look a lot better than what is going on in the present.
I hope I've offered some insight to those of you struggling with a stall or gain right now and that it will give the ones of you who haven't expreienced this some comfort when you finally do.

I totally respect your choice in who you spend your time with, but just because you love him isn't a good enough reason. What if he was physically abusive? Should you stay with a man who beats you? Of course not. What he is doing is emotional abuse.
To me statements like "Are you really going to eat that?" "You want more?" are very rude even said in the nicest way. And, getting mad because you are recovering and don't want to have sex is rude. Where is the understanding and support from him? Finally, eating something you love right in front of you is just down right rude.
Again, I respect your choice to stay with him because you love him. I just don't understand it. Please take good care of yourself.

Definitely. I never thought I'd make it through it and here I am 9 weeks post op. Hang in there and remember this time is a very small blip on the screen of life and it is temporary. Trust me, it will be with it. You will love your sleeve.

I'm sorry you are going through a rough time right now. I'm definitely not here to judge you. I don't think though that anyone can really give you that answer or at least the answer you are most likely looking for. Only you can make that decision. Just know that it can interfere with healing if you make the decision to do it.

I'm not put on FB for a couple of reasons. First, I don't put a lot of personal information on there and never have. Second, because some of those people I'm not really close to and I'm somewhat selective about who knows I had the VSG.

I was stressed about the same thing. It took exactly 4 weeks for the incision to stop hurting. Someone on the forums told me I would wake up one day and would not be in pain and that's exactly what happenned. Don't worry it will be over soon.
    Good Luck!!

If it is scabbed over, you can put the patch directly on it. At least I did and I was fine. If it isn't, then I'd put a layer of gauze between your skin and the heating pad.
Abdominal binders are tight. They are supposed to be. Trust me, if you are having pain there, especially a pulling pain, the tight binder will feel good. I know it doesn't sound like it would, but it does. You can get them at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and other pharmacies. I don't know what you weigh, but if you are too heavy, those might not be big enough to fit. If this is the case, check out the Spanx type things at Walmart, Target, Lane Bryant, etc.
