    Got completely deflated today

Well, I don't understand why my band would suddenly be tighter when my last fill was a year ago. I may never know, but I'm just thankful to be able to drink fluids and to be able to take my antibiotic. Lol
  2. I've been banded since May of 2012. I had 7.4 cc in a 10 cc band since last January. Friday I went to the dentist and found out that I have a dying nerve under a crown. The next day my face became swollen I started to have a very hard time getting my antibiotic down. Last night it was stuck for an hour. Then it seemed like fluids weren't going down and I'd bring it up. Met the doc at the ER today and she totally deflated me. Did an X-ray and thankfully no slip in the band. Doc is thinking my band may have become tighter due to the inflammation going on in my face from my abscesses tooth. I'll go back to the doc after my root canal for a refill which will be after 2/5/14. Doc also gave me IV fluids because my labs showed I was dehydrated. Feels good to be able to drink fluids without it hurting and coming back up. Anyone else have a similar situation with their band?

    Leak in band

A couple months ago she had a fill and was too tight. She ended up going to to the ER that her doctor told her to go to. Well the ER doc tried to do an unfill and she was bruised all over. She said he use a very long needle and didn't seem to know what he was doing. Finally she wouldn't let her touch him and demanded that her lap band doc come in, which she did. I bet any money that was how she got a leak! She is so frustrated and just wants the band out and she just got it in August. I'm not sure where the leak is. Her doc isn't sure it is that. She took out all the Fluid, which was less than what she should have had and is supposed to go back in 4 weeks. The problem is that she was having a lot of pain in the area of the band. Why would a leak cause pain? I hope she doesn't give up a, the band has worked so nice for me, so far.

    Leak in band

My friend and I both have the lap band. U e had good results but he just found out she may have a leak. I don't think she is using the band the way she should and of course she regrets it. My question. How does a leak happen? Is it from her eating too much? I'm just curious

    Goodbye Pre-Op

Good luck on your surgery! One of the best decisions I ever made.
  6. Had my 3rd fill this last Friday. The first few days I had quite a bit of pb'ing and stuck issues. I thought "great, maybe I'm too tight". Liquids go down easily. Today when I ate lunch I had chicken and broccoli. No pb'ing. The trick....I ate slower and stopped in between bites. Ive always been a fast eater so that's been the hardest for me to stop. I guess I was still eating way too fast with the band. My total meal was 3 oz, as I didn't want to overdo it. So far so good. I have realized that I have to learn how to eat all over again with a fill. Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is having the same issue.
  7. My first full was at 6 weeks. I have a 10cc band and had 5.4cc first fill and 1.2cc at my second fill

1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question

Air? Should be only saline. I didn't get numbing medicine either. When I got my fill she found my port and put the needle in. I then sat up with the needle still in and took sips of water. When I took a sip I had a funny feeling in my throat and she timed from when i started to feel it to when it ended. I ended up with 5.2 cc fill. Question your doctor about the air. This is your body and just because he has MD behind his name doesn't mean he knows everything. Be your own advocate.

    Surgical Glue On Incisions

Dint scrub the dermabond (glue) off! Im a nurse and we always tell out post op patients not to peel it off, as you will have minimal scaring.
  10. I had suffered for heartburn for the past couple years. My surgeon told me that, during surgery, she would look for a hiatel hernia and repair it. Well, low and behold I had quite a large one. It's repaired and no more heartburn!

    Shortest Time Between Fills?

I just had my first fill 6 weeks after surgery. Second fill in 6 weeks, then after that I can do every 2 weeks if I need it. My doc does it this way to allow the stomach to heal and build up scar tissue to prevent any problems. They are aggressive with fills and go by how you are feeling. For a first fill I recieced 5.4cc in a 10cc band

    Had My First Fill

Well, had my first fill since my surgery on May 2. Happy to say I'm down 18 pounds. The past 10 days I noticed that I was feeling more hungry and able to eat more, so I'm happy that I didn't have a weight gain. As for the fill, it wasn't as bad as I thought. The PA found my port quickly and before I knew it the needle was in. What I was more worried about was standing up, with the needle in, so I could drink some water. I wasn't too sure what I would feel at first, but then it felt like a lump at the back of my throat. I told her when that feeling went away(which was fast) and she added more saline. We did it again, but it was too tight so she took some out. I have 5.4 cc's in a 10 cc band. Now just have to do the full liquids for 24hours then, mushies for 24 hours, then back to regular food. Next fill, July 26!

    Spicy Foods

What do banisters do, when you eat something spicy for your meal, but you can't drink and your mouth is on fire? Do you just avoid spicy things so you don't want a drink?
  14. Use it if you have it! I could tell a differnce in my lung capacity after surgery. I used it for over a week until I didn't have any pain when using it.
