chitowngirl reacted to bellabbr in Slow Losers... How Long Did It Take To Meet Your Goal Weight?
I am still not at goal. I started at 233 when I had my surgery end of Nov and a little over 5 months out I am down 53lbs and still have 30 more to loose. I have had to let go of every expectation I had and just realize I am going to get there. I might not get there by my birthday next month, or even by summer this year, but I am going to get there and after I get there, I won't care that it took longer. In my experience, only here people care, in real life everyone asks me how much I have lost and they are very happy for me. If I whine to my friends in real life that I am a slow looser, they put me in my place. Even my fitness obsessed friend said she can't loose 10 lbs in a month the healthy way. 8 if she is lucky and that is not consistent. So just realizing you will get there and will it really matter that it took you 1 or 2 or even 4 extra months than you planned?? than you will be happier and more relaxed in this journey. Just keep an eye on whats going in your mouth and enjoy the ride.

I'm currantly a month out and honestly I am barely able to hit my Protein goals. It's a process I had to gradually build my way upto my Water intake, meds and Vitamin intake. My advice is focus on one thing at a time, then gradually add another element in.

Yes, this also happened to me, my nut said to eat 5-6 small meals. I really don't have a choice, it's not like I can eat a bunch a lot anyway.

Lol... Yeah I thought the world was shrinking. I hated taking pictures, because when I looked at the picture I was forced to stare at the reality of my weight. Its funny I was in such denial, I really felt like I only had 20 pounds to loose. However reality b***h slapped me in the face, when my endocrinologist just bluntly told me I should have wls, he told me that loosing the amount of weight that I needed, in addition to my pcos was going to take me very long, and I was fighting an uphill battle. I'm grateful that I had the humility to take his advice and not to be offended. 1 month post op and loving my sleeve.

This is a big one for me this week as I've been having a tough time emotionally and mentally with some things going on, and my "head hunger" has come back to the forefront of my thinking. When I'm sad, I want comfort foods. Thankfully I have not broken down at all and have stuck with the program and my weight loss is still progressing. But even today, after a tough session with my therapist, I really wanted to hit the Jack in the Box. Granted, I justified it by saying I'll just get chicken strips and eat two of them. I was halfway there when I stopped at a light and made a hard u-turn saying out loud, "Just go home! GO HOME NOW!" and I did. I came home and made a Protein shake instead. I was hungry (hadn't had enough Protein today) and emotional -- two weaknesses. It just goes to show how there is more to this surgery than just the incisions, gas, and pills. It's about knowing what you got in trouble in the first place and taking control.
I personally know that having the sleeve has been the best and most consistent tool I've had in weight loss ever. Before, I'd diet, I'd exercise, I'd get into a program and inevitably I'd lose momentum after 2-3 months. Having PAID for the surgery (a small chunk of savings that could have gone to SO many other things), gone through the cutting, the healing and that horrible first month -- I NEVER want to do it again. That does not mean I regret ever doing it -- just the opposite -- now that I have done it, I have so much motivation to never have to do it again! Not to mention seeing the results for the first time in six years! Yes, my weight yo-yo'd some in my twenties, but I've never had to lose this much weight before. To know I've been able to lose 50 pounds in three months, is just amazing.

So I'm just 2 weeks post op. I have a 13 year old son, he knows that I had surgery, but I was very general and did not tell him that it was WLS. I told him I had abdominal surgery. Well yesterday we were talking and he told me wow mom your really looking skinnier. I've lost 20 pounds and am excited. I feel like a 13 year old boy has even noticed my weight loss. That was the thing that has real. Loving my life...

Well this is really a personal decision, and ultimately it is yours to make. All the stories in the world should not trump your gut instinct. I am 12 days post op, and have no regrets. I was tired of trying to convince myself that I could do it on my own. I just finally decided that it was time for me to have the surgery. I have no regrets, it isn't easy. I don't even eat 1/4 of what I used to, but I do know that it's something tht I've got to do. I also know that eventually I will be able to eat a little more.

I am only a week out, but seeing how supportive my husband is, just makes me love him so much more. So as far as being insecure he is not there and I make sure to express my love and appreciation on a regular basis. So I hope he will not get those feelings.
