Browneyedbandit got a reaction from honorablebeauty in Did you get your sex drive back?
I'm three weeks out and have only lost about 20 pounds so far but I have to say that it has ALREADY made a difference for me!! I already feel better about myself and can tell that my tummy has shrunk already as well. Needless to say, my husband is enjoying this new confidence as well!!!! So, I think the answer to your question is definitely YES!! Anxious to see what a difference the next 20 pounds makes! Good luck to you!

    Hey dolphintattoo,
I'm one week out today! So far I have done really well! I feel great! I was able to stop my pain meds after two days and I drove last night for the first time. I'm losing about a pound a day right now-- can't seem to stay off the scale! I'm trying to cut back on the weighing 'cause I know that's gonna slow down soon. I'm still on "liquids" but my doc classified that as anything that would go through a straw so I've been using the Magic Bullet to purée some thicker Soups and chilis these last couple of days. I'm not getting in as much Water as I should just yet but I'm working on that. I'm doing some lite housework and went to the grocery last night--- I do still wear out easily and luckily don't go back to work until next Monday the 28th. Overall, I feel great and this has absolutely been one if the BEST things vie ever done for myself! Just wished I had done it sooner! Hang in there-- it gets better and I'm positive it's gonna be worth it!

Hey dani_nyc! Welcome! You will find lots of encouragement here! It took me a little over a year to go through the process too so I know where you're coming from! I was banded last Tuesday, Jan15th! So far, so good! I got nervous at first too but the closer it got the more peaceful I was with my decision. I think it was because I realized that I was at the point that something had to change and I just needed that extra boost that the band could give. It's not easy-- it's going to be hard work all the way but I think if we've finally reached that point of truly being ready--- we WILL be successful this time around! Don't know if my rambling helped much but I will be glad to answer it questions you might have and if I don't know I'm sure someone on here does! So good luck and stay in touch!

Browneyedbandit got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in pre op diet how hard was it?
Hey Erin! Today is day 7 of pre op diet for me. I had a lot of those same feelings before actually starting! Has it been hard? Not gonna lie--- it definitely has! But I've been stronger than I thought I could be! Have I been totally perfect on it? Not gonna lie about that either! I have put a couple of cheezits in my mouth and let them melt. Sunday night, I still had enough calories and fat grams to eat a baked potato with butter and sour cream from Wendy's with my family (nurse at my surgeon's office said that I needed to mostly be concerned about the fat). Have I been really hungry at times? Oh yeah!!!! But I'm doing it for the most part! I've lost about 6 pounds so far. I just keep thinking about the end result-- God willing, this time next week I will be on the "other" side--- banded and on my way to a healthier me! I just think that if I've gotten to this point(being banded), I need to do EVERYTHING possible to make it work. You can do it, too! Hang in there!

Hello! My surgery is scheduled for Jan.15. I start my liquid diet on Jan. 1st. I'm really dreading that part! My cousin had lap band in July and she assured me it woukd be ok. She also said the first couple of days were the hardest! Good luck! I will be interested in hearing how your surgery goes!

I posted in our monthly board but this thread is getti more action so I will repost! What are you looking forward to the most in post banded life?
For me it's being able to cross my legs like a lady, not worrying about being asked to buy a second airplane ticket and of course shopping in a regular size clothing store.

I feel the same way. I feel like this is my last chance and am so scared I am going to be the one who can't do it. I have a love affair with food and I am worried I won't find the comfort it gives me anywhere else.

My biggest fear, too! Like you, I've failed so many times before--- each time thinking this is gonna be it--- have some success and then fall "off the wagon" again and be right back where I started or worse! I'm trying to approach this with the best possible attitude! Good luck to you!

Best wishes to you too, Onamission and all the rest of you as well! My date is Jan15. I started my two week liquid diet today. I have been trying to get my insurance approval for a year so I understand what you mean about patience! Been kinda hungry today--- just trying to hold on to the thought that two weeks from today my surgery will be over by now! I'm anxious to hear all about all of your journeys.

I think it's the majority of us pre banders think that. I mean we're all use to failing. And we're going into this without a guarantee that it will work. In my opinion... No weight loss surgery is going to work if we don't change our lifestyle. If we continue to put the same crap in our mouths we can't expect different results. Eventually the weight will come back.
I think we just have to look at the lapband as a tool to help us stay on track. It's just a tool, (a very expensive one). Most weight gain or loss is a mental effort. If your addicted to food, as I am and I'm sure many others then that's an addiction that you have to break.... Mentally.
I'm going with the lap band because I feel it's a tool that will help me stay on track. As many others too. I've lost the weight before and know what it takes. Deep down under all this fat there is a fit person that loves being at the gym.. And looks at food as energy. I think we all can change to that..
Sorry for the rant... This is just a question I've been battling personally as well

Just hang in there! I THOUGHT I was doing everything my insurance required and when I came to what I thought would be time for my insurance to approve, I found out that had not actually done what they wanted so I had to start the process all over again! I finally got approval the week of Thanksgiving and will actually have surgery on Jan.15th( I started this process right after Thanksgiving LAST year!)! So just stay positive-- it will happen!

Hi! I'm another newbie to this sight. I've been reading posts on here as well as many blogs from other bandsters. This is all new to me! I've begun the process of having lap band surgery and am waiting for insurance approval. I have to do three monthes of a diet and exercise journal and work with an RN assigned to me through my insurance. She will then help submit the other necessary paperwork and hopefully I will be approved! I've been to my seminar, had the mental evaluation, and upper GI. I just wish I could get the ball rolling faster-- the weight(pun intended) is killing me! Lol I have to admit the journaling is really hard for me! I just can't get used to writing everything down!
I guess I should share a little about myself. I'm 44 years old. I'm married to my high school sweetheart. We've been married for almost 23 years. We have 2 sons who are 19 and 14. I am a kindergarten teacher. This is my 23rd year. I love it but really want to get back the vigor I had when I first started teaching and was much smaller! I've always had to struggle with my weight-- I'm only 5 feet tall-- but I managed to keep it at a decent level until my kiddos were born and then REALLY gained after having my hysterectomy a few years ago. I feel like I'm rambling so I'll just close for now. I would really appreciate any information that anybody has to offer!
