  8. I got this message on another forum, thought would post here too. Robyn Chris Henderson has asked me to release the following statement on his behalf: "The Toronto Laparoscopic Band Centre (TLBC) goal is to provide its patients with the highest and best level of medical care at every step of their decision to use and work with the adjustable Gastric Band. Our patients' health and safety during the pre operative and post operative phases of the Gastric Band usage remains our highest priority and responsibility to our existing and future patients. This responsibility also involves timely and appropriate communication of changes at the Centre to our patient community. We wish to officially advise our patient community of 2 recent changes, Dr. Jacob Joffe is no longer part of the team of surgeons at the Centre and Nisrine Shammas is no longer employed at the Clinic. The changes in our team of surgeons and pre operative and post operative professionals are always made with the best interests of our patient community in mind, and are part of our continuing commitment to providing the highest and best care for our patients. While we are not at liberty to give anyone details regarding either departure, we want the community to know TLBC will continue to grow and develop as Canada's leader in Surgical Weight Loss procedures and we look forward to continuing our enviable record of patient satisfaction. For all existing patients the TLBC post operative team remains in place, focused and ready to help them meet their goals. All new patients will receive a very high level of attention, education and assistance in making their decision to make TLBC their solution of choice. We appreciate your continued support and understanding in this matter."
  9. Thanks for replying, I havent had fluro. The clinic in Duluth wants the x-ray so they know where the port is- I told them I can feel it and I have had 3 fills so I know where it is. LOL. Once things cool down at TLBC I will call them. Robyn
  10. I found a clinic that will do my fills, all I need is the surgery notes and x-ray of my stomach (didnt know one was taken-lol) Since I live in Thunder Bay and the flights to TO are costing me $$ I am able to get service in Duluth,MN which is 3.5hr away-no biggy since we tend to go there often. Has anybody ever had to do this? Robyn
  11. Thats to bad about Nisrine , I really liked her. I wish her well in her whatever path she takes. Robyn
  12. Hi there! I live in Thunder Bay, ONt. I was banded in Toronto. I am looking for info- is there any clinic or hospital in Duluth, that does "fills"? I would rather drive 3.5hrs than have to fly (1.5hr or drive 18hrs ) to Toronto. The $300 flights are killing me!!LOL Can anyone help?? Robyn
  13. Yasmina My first fill was 5cc and I really didnt feel anything different. Next fill was 2cc, and I felt some restriction, then 3rd fill was 1cc. Felt even more restriction, but it seems to be gone again :phanvan Robyn
  14. Well I just went and checked my invoice from the HI. Mine ws 129.99 medical rate- LOLOLOL:omg: Make up there minds would they. Robyn
  15. We claimed about 18,000- surgery, hotel, flights, and plus I had some chiropractic in there too. It made about a 3000 difference.
  16. When I ws banded at TLBC we stayed at the Holiday Inn. Arrived Wednesday and checked out on the Saturday and it was about $430.00 Room was clean, and decent. there is a coffee shop downstairs along with a resturant. Across the road was a corner store. The TLBC was about 1 block behind and 1.5-2 blocks over. Cheapest cab ride of my life after surgery- i think it was $3.75. Robyn
  17. Congrats Donna. Your seat is saved on the bench!! Robyn
  18. Glad to hear you made it home ok. I was wondering because of the weather if you would get stuck in TO. Glad your fill went well Robyn
  19. Hey Yasmina I would like to be there if I could but have other arrangements that day..As to your fill- my first one Nancy called after I had already booked my plane ticket and asked if we could change the day I told her No, I already booked my ticket, so when i went I met with Maral for 5 minutes asked me how it was going, gave me a booklet on Bandster eating, how to tell if you need a fill, unfill, stuff like that, then I met with Daryl (Nancy -the fill nurse was away) she took my weight, and then gave me a 5cc fill- It didnt hurt, but was uncomfortable- felt pressure(her pushing down trying to access it i guess), I almost passed out!!But really it doesnt hurt- this was just my nerves. Afterwards (usually fill takes about 10 seconds if that- from time they find port, swab it off and inject and put bandaid on) After that I went to waiting room, sat and sipped a bottle of water, then left. As to the 2 hr seminar- I really dont know cause I didnt get one due to Nancy having other plans, but I have heard others say it doesnt take 2 hrs. Dont worry they are sooo awsome there.:heh: Robyn
  20. WOOHOOO!!:clap2: Oh I am telling you the time will pass by very quick!!! Keep us updated on your journey. Robyn
  21. Welcome home Yasmina Glad you had an good trip. I went today to Toronto for fill #3. Fricken Air Canada- flight was to leave tbay at 10:40(my apt was for 1:30 and then we were flying back at 4:00pm) Well Got to airport and found out flight was delayed till 12:00, had to change coming back flight,a dn call TLBC to say I will be late.. By the time We got into TO and to clinic it was 3:15, I was so mad and flustered, but Nancy was so cool abou it. In and out and back to airport to come home- got into Tbay around 7:45- I am sooo tired. BTW I saw you in the news paper. Cant wait to chat with you. Robyn
  22. No sure but thought it was about 60-65g could be wrong If I am hope somebody can correct this. Robyn

  24. My hubby had GWL and I inquired about covering LapBand and was told NO. Which is STUPID!!! LOLOL Robyn
  25. I did our Incime tax and for us it made about $3000 difference. I included cost of surgery, flight x3(intital surgery and fills) and the hotel stay after surgery- i forgot to get receipts for the taxi rides. Too bad we dont get the whole amount back but for us $3000 back is better than nothing. Robyn
