  1. I'm with you. I tried to look up online nutrional certification or degrees, and really had no luck. I'm not having much luck finding a school period. I know its out there somewhere! Good luck with whatever you decide to do! I think that both of the things you mentioned sound like awesome ideas. And following our passons only adds to our new happy healthy lives!
  2. Another suggestion to help... my surgeon recommended... a tea called Smooth Moves. Gah, I love the name... cracks me up.
  3. I've noticed that I need less sleep, but I get tired sooner than before. I'm looking for be now at 9:30 instead of 10:30. But, I also wake up on the dot at 6:00 am everyday and I'm full of energy and not achey like I used to be. I also don't wake up in the middle of the night anymore to pee. Its great really. The only disadvantage, is sometime my boyfriend isn't home from work till 9 or 9:30 so going to bed that early means I don't see him much those days.
  4. I think where I am strugglng since I'm fresh into eating again, is all the substituions I know of for carbs, generally invovle raw veggies and I'm still intimidated to try those. So far I've only have some turkey and chicken. Normally, I'm really good at food stuffs... but I'm feeling lost in the trying to learn how to eat balenced in the beginning. Otherwise, I'm eating the same foods I've been eating on mushies, just not as mushy. Last night dinner was, fat free refried beans, a little melted cheese, half a 100 cal wholly guacamole, and a squirt of taco bell's mild sauce (my boyfriend stole some packets for me hehe).
  5. I used Dr. Todd Worley he works out of Methodist Willowbrook, and I can't recommend him enough. He is the definition of a perfect doctor. He has been there 100% of the way however I needed him. He and his staff have been just fantastic.
  6. My nutritionist pointed me in the direction of these tortillas from a company called La Tortilla. They have lots of different flavored tortillas to use for wraps and such. They're low carb, contain 5-8 grams of protein, and are high fiber. http://latortillafactory.com/products-3.aspx
  7. I'm lucky in this department, I'm not a beef fan. Before I only ate poultry and some fish (but I'm super picky with fish, really not a seafood fan).
  8. Thanks for the great suggestions!
  9. You'll make it! And for me, once I got on mushies everything got better. I didn't miss eating as much, and could have something other than sweet Protein drinks all the time.
  10. Ok, friends I just got the great news that I'm cleared to start eating "real food" again! Yay, yay, yay! *happy dance* But, I have no idea what I want to eat or where to start with. I know I want to ease into eating things just as I have through this whole process, but I'm not sure where to begin, and its a week until I get to see my NUT. I really don't have a craving for anything particular, and I want to hang on to that feeling as I start eating healthy solid food again. But, whats a good first meal? I've been eating cheeses, and egg salad, Peanut Butter and other soft foods for a bit now, so I'm past that place. Suggestions! And one more time, yay!
  11. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
  12. You are a new girl! Hope you have a great first day back.
  13. Yum, this sounds good! I'll have to try it out. Also glad to find another WLS food blog!!
  14. Whenever I got that scared to death feeling, I would remind myself of all the reasons that I decided to do the surgery in the first place and that always calmed me down. Scary surgery that will potentially offer me a month or so of discomfort vs. health issues, a life time of struggling, being uncomfortable in my own skin, etc.... and suddenly was back on track that scary surgery was just that. And sometimes, we have to face our fears to get to the good stuff. If you're sure that you've made the right decision and weighed the pros and cons and still come back to surgery, just try to think about life 6 months after surgery and how great you're going to be!
  15. If your doc allows it, yogurt is a great source of protein if you get Greek yogurt. I've been using either Stonybrook Farms or Dannon's Greek yogurts, they have about 13 grams of protein each container. Just take time to eat it all. Oh, and I highly recommend the Key Lime flavor of the Dannon variety, I just discovered it and its yummy.
  16. Wow, 90!? I've been struggling some days with the 60 my doc and nut recommend. I think at this stage you can't get too much, just because its hard for us to eat much. I try to hit between 60-80 grams a day.
  17. I think at 6 weeks out you should be safe, but double check with your doc. They don't want us eating seeds and stuff because the seeds can get in the staple line and cause an infection in your stomach. But, I think at 6 weeks you should be healed enough that, hopefully thats not an issue.
  18. Ok, this seems like the place to bring up this question. So, my fellow PCOSers.... after not having a period for 7 months, and now losing 42 pounds, I'm having the period from hell. I sorta expected it, but wowwie, is it heavy. I'm not sure when I should be alarmed. I'm on day 2 of the worry flow. Last year, my Ob-gyn gave me a pill to induce my period because I had a thick build up in my uterine wall from not properly cycling... so, I know thats whats happening. Its just concerning.... and uncomfortable. Anyone else deal with something similar?
  19. I'm down 42 pounds. 12 pounds pre-op. I'm just floored at this. I have my 2nd post surgery follow-up with the doc on Tuesday. I'm hoping I graduate to real food!
  20. My skin period has been dry and flaky in places. I was wondering why as well. I've been making 50 -60 oz of water, so it shouldn't be a dehydration thing. I am seeing my surgeon for a follow up next Tuesday, I plan on talking to him about it.

Congratulations! I was one month out on the 27th. I had some rough patches, but am finally getting comfortable with things and starting like my sleevie!
  22. My doctor asked me my goal and I told him 155, I'm 5'8 and large framed. He said, he'd feel better if I shoot for 175. He thought 155 would make me look sickly. So, I agreed, and figure when I get there I can assess what I look like and decide if I want to loss 10 more pounds or more.
  23. I started mine week 3, and I'm on it for 5 weeks. I'm just starting week 3 of mushies. So far, ive had scrambled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad, fat free refried pinto & black beans, oatmeal, applesauce, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, laughing cow cheese, ricotta cheese, tomato soup, mushroom soup.....And mixed stuff in with those things. Like a dollup of cheese melted on beans with 2 tsp. of a mild salsa. Mmm!
  24. It's a wiki answer to the question, but it does say that taller people have larger organs, and uses the stomach as an example. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Do_tall_people_have_larger_organs_than_short_people
