  1. Congrats and prayers going up! God bless and keep us posted!
  2. Pain meds help with the ability to get up and walk around if you need them. If it is the pain that is keeping your from doing other things then take the meds. Walking helps with the gas and over all healing. Water intake also helps with the healing process. If you become dehydrated then you become weak and will end up back in the hospital. Take small sips and do it all the time. Hope you feel better soon! I am one of those that have liquids for 3 weeks and it's not so bad really. I do still smell food and I didn't lose my taste buds in surgery but I am not hungry so I have to tell my brain that in time I will taste some of those good smelling things again.
  3. I was on 3 Diabetes medications before surgery. 100 units of Lantus, Victoza 1.8 mg and 2 each of 1000 mg Metformin per day. I have not had any diabetes medications since surgery and my fasting sugars are between 90-120 in the a.m. and also before I go to bed at night same range. I worried because they were in the 100's but the doctor told me not to worry unless they exceeded 150. I am still on liquids and exercising minimal. I know once I start to add in solid foods and amp my exercise routine up this should also affect my numbers. My next A1C will be my proof and determine if I will need to start any meds back. Praying that will not be the case.
  4. HUGS, been there with same situation with my father! God bless! Congrats on reaching your goal and taking charge of your own health!
  5. Wow, you use a straw again? I don't know why but I thought I was giving up the straw for life? LOL - maybe I imagined this?!!
  6. And what is this "only lost 26lbs"?? - that is a whole lot of weight my dear! It wouldn't be I "only gained 26lbs" would it??? Don't be hard on yourself!! You made a positive decision to change your life and every pound and NSV counts towards that goal to be healthy!!
  7. Sorry don't have UHC but I waited about 3 days and then called my advocate at the doctor's office - she was still waiting- I got my answer 2 days later! Good luck and will be praying for a speedy answer from your insurance company!! Who is your doctor??
  8. YUP, just to keep it in context....."head on the nail?" - LMAO!
  9. I have wondered that for days now
  10. The purpose is to shrink the liver since it lays on top of the stomach. This makes the surgery easier for the surgeon. It also allows you to get used to the liquid diet you will be on after surgery.
  11. I think you could qualify as thin again!! - CONGRATS!!
  12. Yes, I had the ON-Q pain ball and it definitely helped with the pain. Its mostly for the pain at the incisions.
  13. Amazing SILS - great news on getting your date!!
  14. Just keep reading these boards. You will soon realize that you are not giving up food forever! You will eventually get to eat alot of the things you loved in the past, just the way you eat them and the quantities will change.
  15. I am 11 days out and doing great - no real issues at all. Drinking okay, still on liquids and haven't really had a lot of pain, some of course, but I did just have major surgery. I did take my pain killers as prescribed (liquid lortab). I have done exactly what my surgeon told me to do from the beginning of the whole experience, including the Post-Op diet and am happy so far. Walk, walk, walk before and after surgery. Some people have different experiences. Mine so far has been all positive.
  16. I think she had surgery on this last Monday? I imagine food would hurt right now for sure. I was sleeved on March 5 and he still has me on liquids, I can do the Protein shakes but no foods. Hope you get better soon!
  17. Awesome! Yeah I have BCBS Anthem in Texas and they didn't require that. Only 1 Psych and 1 Dietician visit! Great news for you!! I hope you have a happy journey!
  18. I was just disappointed to have to go through menstruation again!! Whaaaaa.....
  19. Yes, it saddens me that they speak so openly about the epidemic of obesity but yet the insurance industries keep excluding any WLS from their policies. Not everyone can afford to self-pay or even afford insurance for that matter. However if you do see someone that does seem to be running in the money you do wonder why they might not seek such an option for themselves or then again maybe they are quite content with their circumstances. I don't believe that all overweight people are unhappy with themselves. Just a thought?? I sought the surgery to help with several issues: Diabetes, HBP, sleep Apnea and weight.
  20. Brief fleeting moment during my first walk around the hallway of the hospital, but I had read enough on this board to know that it was coming and to my great delight it left just as quickly as it appeared. I am very happy with my new sleeve - 11 days out and still on Clear liquids. Kinda bored some with the clears but really don't have an appetite so it's not like I am craving anything. Chewing gum and popsicles for the need to chew.
