  1. I changed insurances at work during Open Enrollment period. I did my research and found out which one did cover WLS. The premiums were higher but overall it was around $350 more a year which wasn't anything compared to self pay even in Mexico. If you don't have insurance at work IowaAndy may be right about finding insurance on your own. If you don't want the Mexico route, which I see nothing wrong with as many people on this forum have done this and had magnificent results, but if it isn't for you I did notice a "Topic" in one of the forums titled "$8000 Self pay in the US" and someone had found a very reputable doctor in the US that was doing the surgery for less because they had moved their business to a different state. You may want to check that out and see if you could get financing. Good luck on your journey!!
  2. Keep your head up and keep moving!! Inches are victories too!
  3. You could try the old "hide it in a napkin" trick you used as a kid to feed the dog the foods you didn't like! LOL - j/k
  4. I weighed 222 on surgery day - so during surgery and the 2 days in the hospital the IV fluids managed to allow me to gain 6 lbs. Lost 4 of them in days 3 and 4 post op - days 4 and 5 have not seen the scale move. But I'm sure I am not done yet! NSV's - 1) Have not taken any diabetes medications since two days before surgery (I was on 3) 2) Have not taken any high blood pressure medications since one day before surgery (I was on 2) Pretty sure the high blood pressure medications are done. Not sure if the diabetes medications are gone forever, but my numbers are really good and I do believe that once I start eating real food again and exercising at a deeper level, those medications are history too!! Those were two of the main reasons I had the surgery in the first place so it is already winning BIG in my humble opinion!!
  5. Praying for your speedy recovery!!
  6. You will do fine!! I found about in the middle of the diet that every once in a while I threw the meal in for lunch instead of dinner and moved the shake to dinner. That worked to help battle that long day without the food. I was going to the gym after work and doing a few small things to help strengthen me before surgery so I wasn't getting home until around 7 ish anyway. Good luck and look forward to you posting you've been sleeved!!
  7. So I guess I am on day 7? Not sure if I count the day of surgery in my post-op counts or not, but I don't guess anyone really cares right? LOL I hadn't had a bowel movement all week but kept telling myself I really wasn't putting much in other then liquids and then today I decided I would search the forums on "constipation" just to see what advice might be out there and low and behold as I am searching nature comes along on her own and although it wasn't much I am guessing it was about what I have input!! TMI I know but wanted to type something and this was the closest thing to my heart!!
  8. San Antonio - Sleeved on the 5th and taking it one day at a time - no regrets so far!
  9. Good luck and hope you get your revision soon! Yes NSAIDS are on the list; however when I asked my surgeon about taking them in the future if I required another neck surgery that would require I take NSAIDS to help reduce the swelling what then? He did state that they would allow short term use of them and provide a "purple pill" (lol - I am sure he means Nexium) to take along with it to help prevent ulcers. So, definitely discuss it with your surgeon further.
  10. It was a post by futureskinnypants
  11. Just read a post where someone found $8000 self pay in the US by very well kniwn doctor and they were using some sort of financing.
  12. I know Rhapsody has had some pain when swallowing so not sure what the best method for you is. I am constantly sipping on something. I have a 10 oz bottle and I drink everything out of it. If I am drinking liquid protein I put it in that bottle too and sometimes I pour half the liquid protein in and add water to make it thinner. I get my protein and my water. Also, that way I know my goal is to drink 6 of those a day minimum. If I go over that great. I drink my broth very warm out of a teacup and that is extra if I finish my 6th bottle and if not it goes towards my goal of 60-64 oz of liquids. You are doing a great job Rhapsody!! Keep taking those sips and create a method that makes it easier for you!
  13. Also I am able to chew gum too and that helps although I don't know if I am in Ketosis yet.
  14. Yes, walk walk walk! Doctors say the pain is the gas! I also used GAS X strips. Walk every chance you get even if just once or twice around the hallway
  15. Praying your journey is smooth!
  16. Good luck to all of you!! I remember feeling so excited!! Sleeved has been good so far!!
  17. So by "overturned" you mean they are now covering your procedure due to your appeal letter? WHOO HOO!
