  1. I'm sorry you are feeling ill Natural. You mentioned you got your period and I noticed on another post you said you weren't able to get your vitamins in like you should. I wonder if you might be really low on Iron? That on top of being hydrated would really suck.

Have you talked to your doctor again since you left the ER?

  2. Good for you. Stay on track surgery buddy! Just remember that although that cheese, etc might taste good your stomach needs time to heal and having a leak because you couldn't say no to a chicken nugget isn't worth it!

  3. Good luck and hope you get your revision soon!

Yes NSAIDS are on the list; however when I asked my surgeon about taking them in the future if I required another neck surgery that would require I take NSAIDS to help reduce the swelling what then? He did state that they would allow short term use of them and provide a "purple pill" (lol - I am sure he means Nexium) to take along with it to help prevent ulcers. So, definitely discuss it with your surgeon further.

  4. I know Rhapsody has had some pain when swallowing so not sure what the best method for you is. I am constantly sipping on something.

I have a 10 oz bottle and I drink everything out of it. If I am drinking liquid protein I put it in that bottle too and sometimes I pour half the liquid protein in and add water to make it thinner. I get my protein and my water. Also, that way I know my goal is to drink 6 of those a day minimum. If I go over that great.

I drink my broth very warm out of a teacup and that is extra if I finish my 6th bottle and if not it goes towards my goal of 60-64 oz of liquids.

You are doing a great job Rhapsody!! Keep taking those sips and create a method that makes it easier for you!

  5. It's funny that so many in the medical field have not heard of this surgery. My sister-in-law had the Gastric Bypass 4 years ago and is a registered XRAY techinician in a hospital and she had no idea what I was talking about.

Fortunately, I have complete support of everyone that I have shared with. My family and most of my friends know. And, fortunately they only asked questions in the beginning and that was regarding the procedure and if I was comfortable that I could remain healthy over the long term. This was my explanation to them:

I have done my research for the last couple years and I don't want the by-pass or lap-band, however for about a year I was researching the lap-band and going back and forth on whether I would do it or not, liking that it was reversible. Not liking the re-routing of the RYN. But, then I accidentally happened upon the Sleeve and was at first freaked that they remove that much of the stomach, but it made sense to allow that restriction, since this is one of the main issues....too much food. I struggled with "Am I crazy to have them remove part of my body in order to win this battle?" But, eventually I came to the realization that I am trying to overcome my diabetes, high blood pressure, weight, over working my other body parts carrying the weight and become healthy overall. The Sleeve would allow me to do this. And......everyday doctors are removing parts of peoples bodies to improve their health situation.....gall bladder, appendix, etc.

After that the questions were pretty much gone and they left it alone.

My 16 year old daughter is funny, normally she allows me to fix her dinner and such, but since I started my Pre-Op she has insisted every night that she is good and can do it herself. How sweet that she is silently supporting me and understanding that fixing her food might tempt me!

I will be praying that your approval comes fast and that your friends become tongue tied! LOL

  6. Beautiful, just beautiful Natural! As I lay in my hospital bed on March 5th in recovery from my surgery I promise you I will say a prayer for asking that you have a peaceful nights sleep and the God will guide the surgeons hands for a successful and uneventful surgery for you!

  7. Hi, I too am just beginning this journey and feel most everything beautifulnewme that you listed above. Excitement but also some anxiousness about the changes. I know the end result will be exactly what I am looking for, but right now all I want is to wake up from surgery and my doctor tell me...."awesome liver" and everything went perfectly!!

My surgery is scheduled for March 5 and currently on day 5 of a 14 day Pre-Op diet.

I will keep you in my prayers and hope to share this journey with you as well as many others on this board.

    God bless!

  8. Hang in there and remember all the reasons you chose the surgery. I am sure if it took you 6 months to get the final approval you have taken plenty of time to decipher if this is the right decision for you. Be proud you are sticking to your Pre-Op, that shows you understand the changes that you will have to make. (Because in reality you don't have to do them right now, but you are doing them!)

My surgery is on 3/5/12 and I am on Pre-Op diet too. :) - God bless you!
