  1. Oh my goodness, that sounds so good. Then again... even eating my own arm sounds appetizing right now. LOL! Congrats on getting through 8 days. Any tips?
  2. Mdfinch - I think every doctor is different but mine says I can begin to have meat a month out from surgery. I have never wanted beef and chicken so bad in my life! Almost through the first day. We can do this!
  3. I am on day 1. It wasn't bad until I was at work for 4 hours not able to have a protein drink.. And passed a Wendy's on the street and got hit with the smell. I have this weird sensation in my head and body I can't explain. But I am surprised.. I'm definitely not starving like I expected.
  4. Congrats Tanieya! I am getting banded the day after you. Keep us posted
  5. Our proportions sound pretty similar. I am 22, 5'9" and 290 pre band. They are pretty droopy already (F cup) and suspect I will need a lift after weight loss.
  6. I am so excited for you both!! Congrats ladies!!
  7. I am 22 (turning 23 this year) and getting banded on May 8. Welcome! I am happy everything is moving along for you and that you're researching your options. This board is a great resource!
  8. That is so sweet. Thank you!! Only 11 days to go now and I'm getting excited.
  9. Thank you for answering. I think I will always deal with the same thing, but it is nice to know the band can help us be aware of physical hunger vs head hunger.
  10. I start liquids on Saturday but have been sampling some beforehand. I can't lie, they're gross! I hate that protein-y smell and the thickness of them. But Myoplex french vanilla, and Muscle Milk Light in cafe latte are bearable. I like Isopure in alpine punch flavor. Isopure is my favorite because it's not milky.. It's more like a thicker Gatorade. If you add extra water in the bottle it's decent.
  11. I start liquids on the 28th. I am not looking forward to it, but my nutritionist said it gets easier after the 5th day or so.
  12. Thank you! It took 2 weeks to the day from my last nutritionist appointment to approval. Felt like an eternity. lol
  13. Try not to stress over it. I don't think this test will make or break your approval, because they are looking at overall health. I did not have sleep apnea or any comorbodities, and was still approved.
  14. Congrats on deciding to take this step! I know it's disappointing to have to wait. I finished my 6 month wait at the end of March and am getting banded in a couple of weeks. So like she said, it does fly by. Take this time to care for yourself emotionally, try some protein drinks, add in some physical activity, start telling trusted friends, etc. And if you get frustrated come here and vent. :-P
  15. Congrats! Great accomplishment! Thank you for sharing. I am getting banded in 16 days and experiences like yours are very encouraging. Now that you are one year out, how have you dealt with the "head hunger"? Do you still have it? Some people say it is a daily battle and others say they no longer have a desire to overindulge in the unhealthy foods.
  16. Let us know how surgery went!! Wishing you the best today.
  17. You know, it is nice to know these feelings are normal. I thought i was the only one! Now that surgery is 16 days away I am scared. Not so much of the physical pain of surgery, but of failing. Food has been my best friend and constant for so many years but I know it has only hurt me and at 22, this weight has already made me miss out on so much. I am thinking of this tool as the fresh start I need. Reading your posts on these boards has been a huge encouragement to me.
  18. Do not beat yourself up over it. Instead, think of what may have caused you to slip up. We all have triggers, and if yours is sweets, it's not wise to have those foods in the house, period. Or can you have a healthier option in the house that is individually packaged so you're not tempted to keep on eating?
  19. Thank you ladies! So sweet. And how cool that we are all May bandsters. We will all be on pre op liquid diet at the same time. Any of you feel free to private message me any time!
  20. Congrats on your weight loss! That is amazing. I met the surgeon today and he was so friendly, he was willing to answer my questions, and that put my mind at least. My surgery is May 8th!! Yay! Caramel, did you get a date?
  21. Thanks ladies!! That means a lot. I am so excited for you all who have been recently approved as well. Oh wow meeting w/ surgeon same day. I know how you feel. I am looking forward to starting my new life but am also a nervous wreck right now.
  22. Great job!! WOW. You should definitely be proud of yourself.
  23. Thank you! I meet with my surgeon on the 19th so will find out then.
  24. Going to the info session is a great step. Wish you all the best!
  25. Welcome. I know how you feel. I just finished my 6 months but in hindsight I am glad I had that time to start making small changes -- giving up pop, exercising more, and just getting my head around the whole thing. It will fly by. Hang in there!
