  1. Take your spoon in the jello cup & swirl it all around to break it up, kinda make it "blended" -but it does help go down really easy, also I know it sounds yucky but swish the jello around in your mouth before you swallow. Makes this treat alot more enjoyable
  2. You poor thing! When did your nausea start ? Any particular reason for it ? What has your doc said or done to fix this ??
  3. I meant she weighed 198 at the time of her surgery. shes 5'3". 30 YRS old. she use to wear a size 14, now wears a 4 in jeans but I dont know her current weight. whats the connection between me & my friends weight, just curious ???
  4. You need to get Isopure protein water, you can get it at GNC. 5$ per bottle, its a 20 oz bottle with 40 grms of protein. the protein in it fills u up - promise. Only get the red or purple flavors the rest are awful. Its really not bad compared to the others. If u find it too strong cut it in half with powerade zero. If u get red isopure - cut it with red powerade, and so on for all the colors&flavors. also carry that darn bottle everywhere u go ! HYDRATE, HYDRATE !! You dont want to end up back in the hospital dry heaving . Also , Target has powerade zero on sale for .88 right now - I suggest you stock up. I had no clue how fast I would go thru cases of 16 oz water bottles & powerade
  5. Thank you for the encouragement. Yes she is 6 months out (pretty scary huh) Doc said it had to have been from thebegining but becase it is so small, it didnt catch up with her until now.
  6. I was sleeved on Jan 24th 2012, Weighed 200, 30 yrs old. I'm wondering about post op long term ease or effects/troubles. I know we all recover differently - But I seem to be having a very EASY RECOVERY. I Was walking right after surgery, didnt take pain meds until bedtime & that was to put me to sleep not so much for pain. I do understand that I am still in the begining & have not tried very hevy & dense foods yet, but it's almost as though I have not had surgery. I dont get hungry (that's only happened 3x's) I do have a fair amount of reflux, I sleep with 6 pillows propping me up (Doctor upped my dose of protonix 1 in AM & 1 in PM) I have strength & energy. From day one - I can consume 40 oz of liquids (Water, Isopure, & Powerade) Two weeks out - I can have a full snack size pudding without any trouble, a full packet of cream of wheat etc. I have lost 15 pounds already ! My biggest troubles have been - Reflux No bath, shower only Belly button hurt pretty bad for a while Didnt use the bathroom till day 14 - But wasnt in pain because of that I got really hungry, 3x's !!!!! Thats it As you can see these are not really troubles - I'm so Thankful On the other hand - I read complete HORROR stories about this surg. One of my closest friends is going thru it now. She is 6 months post op, went in to hospital last week with fever, has a small leak, stint didnt work, she has pneumonia, a drain, a pic line. Now is on feeding tube and had another surg this AM to make a second passage to her small intestine because of the pressure inside of her new sleeve ????? I dont understand any of that, all I know is - Anything is possible. I am now scared to death for my recovery & my friends. I understood the risk prior to surgery, but now wondering..... Is it really possible to have this easy of a recovery or am I about to get slammed with loads of complications ? Did any of you have it this easy, I really need to know.
  7. Hi all, I was sleeved on Jan 24th and have been doing very well. In the past few days, usually in the morning I am have terrible reflux. I am on Protonox & Levisin as well as pepcid ac & tums. Any suggestions to get the fire burning throat to go away. I am sleeping upright and still on full liquid diet - so I dont think thats the issue. I did have hernia repair so it seems like this problem would be gone. PLEASE HELP !
  8. I'm. 2 1/2 weeks out from my surgery - I know it varies for all of us - but I cant remember how many ounces our new stomachs hold ? I'm still on full liquids , oatmeal & pudding for about 2 more days. Trying egg drop soup this evening & I dont want to over do it
  9. Thanks Meg. Thats unreal ! Congrats, how exciting. I've been overweight so long, I just cant picture a thin me. But like my doctor said..... If you could picture yourself thin, you wouldnt be here for the surgery. Very true.
  10. I know that I will get a few comments about this question but........ I was sleeved on Jan 24th & I am still on my liquid & full liquids diet. I am realllllyyy looking for some type of flavor & I know I could handle the consistiancy of ice cream. Just wondering If any of you tried that ? Does the sugar or milk make you sick ? Please let me know. Thanks !
  11. I was sleeved on Jan 24th - started at 200 and as of today, I'm at 190 !!! The problem I'm having is - I cant imagine ever weighing my goal weight of 130 lbs. Did everyone else feel like this ? Is the weight loss & our personal determination really possible to shed that much weight ? It's amazing to me - I just cant picture myself thin ! Can any of you give me a monthly or weekly average of weight loss (yes, I understand we are all different - just curious ) Thanks !!!!!
  12. Today is day 8 post op. I have done very well & can tolerate my isopure & water very easy. But now I can move forward to cream soups, pudding & full protein shakes. - problem is, because my sleeve is so new- I dont know what a "full" feeling is. Im afraid of vomiting or over filling my new sleeve. I know to go slow - anyone have any suggestions ?
  13. Get isopure liquid, multiple flavors @ GNC. Its a 20oz bottle, with 40 grams of protein. The protein will keep you strong. The taste is pretty good , but if you dont like it - mix it with powerade fruit punch or strawberry. Forgot to mention that isopure is around 4.99 per bottle ! Keep drinking. I was sleeved on jan 24thn& carry a large bottle with me all day filled with isopure & powerade - i can drink approx 45 oz a day, keep inmind it takes me allllll day
  14. Jan -24th !!!! 7AM - Home, recovering well !
  15. Curvy Diva Did I read correctly ????? You lost 24 LBS from your surg on JAN 10th ! WOW , congrats . I have no idea what pace I'll lose my weight - everyones says it'll be fairly quick. Cant wait to see. Keep up the work !!!
  16. KCsmicah - thanks for the info. Looks like we were both sleeved around the same time. How are you feeling? I seem to have alot of gas pain, & a fair amout of trouble getting in & out of the bed. I have no trouble waking around. We seem to be the lucky ones - being able to get so much fluid in this early on. Whats on your recent menu ? Im trying to get some flsvor - somewhere ! Any suggestions would help. Feel free to tell me your story. It looks like i'll be in his bed till monday morning.
  17. Hello Everyone, This is my first post on vertical sleeve talk. I was sleeved at 8 AM on Tues Jan 24th 2012. My starting weight 3 days before surg was 198 LBS- got on the scale this AM & weigh 204 !!!!! I do understand that could be air/gas, fluids from all of the IV's. But WOW - was shocked to see that number. All I have had in my body since Jan 22 at midnight was : water, protein isopure water, chicken broth, ice chips, and sugar free popcicles. I should add that I seem to be very lucky, because I can consume my min of 40 OZ of water & jello since surg without any problems. Anybadvice would really help as an explanation for the weight gain. Thanks !
