  1. my surg was 1/24/12, I can only eat max 3 small bites of most any type of food before getting foams / slimes. I measure, i watch he clock, I only try foods that seem to chew easy, dissolve etc... Yes I know the point of the surgery was restriction of food intake, the point of the surg was not to stop eating entirely ! I was told I should not be this limited at my stage of the game, I am not nauseated - simply foam & slime. Carbs go down so easy, I can tolerate rice & pasta & tortilla chips so easy. Please dont give me any trouble about the fact that I have tried those food items. I have simply gotton to the point where I have to eat something ! Bloodwork was perfect, physical was fine. Please tell me where you all were at approx 9 weeks out, what items could you eat & qty (i know it varies, i just need examples) For example - the other night at dinner, my friends 3 year old child - ate approx 4x's the amount of food I could handle & he finished his dinner long before I did. I guess the good news is, I'm down 35 LBS Thanks !!

The Need To Feed - Myself !

Nancy, howbfar out are you ? Not everyone gets this. It usually happens if you eat too much or too fast. If this happens you Will know. Its an excessive amout of salivia that you produce, so much so that I keep a cup with me to not have to go to the bathroom to spit every 30 seconds. Foam is also produced, its just terrible. When you "vomit" its not like what you would expect, its an actual slime ball, im sorry i know this is disgusting. This happens to me most of the time if i eat anything other han pudding or yogurt. It happens when i chew min of 40 times & also if i wait 5 min before taking a second bite. Hope you never encounter this !

When Can I Have Cheese ?

i am 2 1/2 weeks out from surg & I am craving cheese . I cant seems to find it on my post op diet list. I went to the deli & had them slice american & havarti as thin as they could. I'd love to try some. Please let me know. Thanks
  4. I'm 8 weeks post op. Not having much trouble, but really dont eat much. I know I'm not getting in my required amount of protein - I am taking all of my vitamins. Today I am at a 32 pound weight loss. Was wondering what everyone was eating at this point & your weight loss at 8 weeks ? Thanks

    8 Weeks Post Op

I dont know If I mentioned something about jumping ahead of the diet - I have never done that. If anything I progressed slower than my doctors diet. I was simply mentioning that I dont get in all of my protein & that whatever I do eat is such a small amount - That I think its slowing my weight loss down. I simply wanted to know where everyone else was at 8 weeks. Thanks

Worried About Recovery Room Pain & Nausea

This was also my biggest fear. I worried for weeks about post op pain & Nausea. Let it go ! I woke up, dont remember the first hour of recovery, but after that - I was fine. I was walking laps within 3 hrs post op. yes its uncomfortable to move quick or get out of the bed, but if you take your time You'll be fine. Nausea, I was VERY concerned about. I requested pre-op to have a scopolimine patch (I know I spelt that wrong) & Zofran. I also told them pre op that I dindnt want IV pain meds - That I would request them if I needed. I took zero Pain meds until bedtime & that was really because I knew it would help me sleep - Not so much because of pain. I was given liquid lortab & it worked. I promise You'll be very suprised at the post op feelings - It was not 1/4 of what I had expected. My belly button hurt the worst of all - Thats it. Yes you will walk slow, have aching pain, and get in and out of the car VERY slowly. HOpe you have a speedy recovery. I dont know how you can find it, but I posted somewhere on here to someone else about post op, explaining what to have with you post op. If I find it I'll get it to you.
  7. Today is day 8 post op. I have done very well & can tolerate my isopure & water very easy. But now I can move forward to cream soups, pudding & full protein shakes. - problem is, because my sleeve is so new- I dont know what a "full" feeling is. Im afraid of vomiting or over filling my new sleeve. I know to go slow - anyone have any suggestions ?

    Concerned

Fever of 100 started last night. Surgery was 1/24/12, I have not had any post op issues so far. Fever of 100 started last night , still here today. Slight headache, lower back pain for days now but I was sure that was due to the way i was sleeping. Now im greatly concerned ! My doctor is 3 hrs away, so I'll go to my local GP in the AM. Has anyone had this ?????

    Back Pain

I have read that back pain could be a sign of a leak. My question is - What type of pain. Both the left and right sides of my back have been aching for a few weeks, It feels as though it's a muscular issue & not actual internal pain. I had my friend try to rub on each side & it was too painful - She told me she had not even rubbed my back yet, only applied light pressure with her hands. I'm thinking it could possibly be the way I'm sleeping ? anyway, did any of you have this ? (It's def not my kidneys)
  12. I stopped weighing myself everyday - due to frustration. For two weeks now I have been at 178-180. I started this surg at 200 on 1/24/12. I am getting 60 oz of fluid a day and 50grams of protein, I know I need more protein, but did any of you have this stall ? Do I need more calories, (I will admit I dont eat much at all). Any help to continue to move forward ??? Thanks
  13. Thats great I was sleeved on 1-24-12 & have lost 22 LBS, It seem as though everyone else is doing alot better.
  14. Try Grecian dip, - Called Tzatziki. It's Greek yougart, dill, cucumber, dill, sour cream. Really yummy ! I tried to post the link - it wont let me ???
  15. I'm 30 days post op (sleeved on 1-24-12) & wondering about weight. I'm 5'6" and surgery weight was 200. I am now at 177. I know we all drop weight at a different rate -but I keep wondering about my "goal" weight. Did most of you get to your goal & what was your goal weight. I have set mine for 130. How long did it take you to get there ? What size do you wear now ? So curious because I dont remember weighing 130 - EVER. Thanks !

    Edamame: Have You Tried It?

Im 30 days post op & eat it now almost everyday - Go to Fresh Market , they have a salad/Deli section of pre made fancy dishes. It's Cranberries,Crumbled Feta & edamame. Attached is the recipe. So Great !!!! http://simplyhealthycooking.wordpress.com/2010/06/20/edamame-cranberry-feta-salad/
  18. Can someone please send me the link or thread to any subject matter pertaining to post op periods or cycles. I cant seem to find any - but do remember reading them a while back. I started yesterday, & ohhhhh gosh. Never had this sort of headache & backpain. I need a resolution to this so I can figure out a way to go into work. I dont have fever so I'm certain this is period related & not a sleeve leak.
  19. Tonight is day 22. I had less than 1/4 cup of potato soup, waited one hour & had my first cheat & my first attempt at something other than pudding, cottage cheese, jello, cheese & soup. I took a baby spoon and had a small bite of pound cake. OH MY !!!! STUCK !!! This is my first run in with my sleeve. Pain & Panic ! Please tell me his isnt how I'll spend the rest of my life with the sleeve once I move on to food. First cheat - kicked my butt. Will not be atempting this again any time soon.
  20. I'm 22 days post op today & I keep wondering..... Is it just me that gets the worst taste in my mouth while drinking Isopure Protein water (I drink the alpine punch flavor) Yucky !!!! I can taste it even after I brush my teeth - It stays with me all day. Just curious.

  22. Looks like we were sleeved on the same day, go to my profile & see what I just posted. I'm still 4 weeks from being able to have fish. 20 min ago, I thought I was going to be smothered to death by a 1/4 size baby bite of pound cake. I suggest we stick with small size soft foods ! LOL . Best of luck, I cant wait until I can have fish.

    Louisiana Sleevers??!

I was sleeved on 1/24/12 by Dr.Lavin. Starting weight 200 Returned home 1/25/12 - Weighed 204 2/15/12 - weight 182 !! Never Hungry, No pain, can have 45 oz of liquid a day without any trouble. I do get full on anything I am allowed to eat (max 3 full bites) Still cant have much other than yougart, cottage cheese, cheese, pudding & soup As of now, really no complaints
  24. I know this sounds simple - but walk around for a few minutes. I was sleeved 22 days ago & find that this helps & takes my mind off of the instant panic that sets in when something gets stuck !
  25. I was sleeved on Jan 24th 2012, Weighed 200, 30 yrs old. I'm wondering about post op long term ease or effects/troubles. I know we all recover differently - But I seem to be having a very EASY RECOVERY. I Was walking right after surgery, didnt take pain meds until bedtime & that was to put me to sleep not so much for pain. I do understand that I am still in the begining & have not tried very hevy & dense foods yet, but it's almost as though I have not had surgery. I dont get hungry (that's only happened 3x's) I do have a fair amount of reflux, I sleep with 6 pillows propping me up (Doctor upped my dose of protonix 1 in AM & 1 in PM) I have strength & energy. From day one - I can consume 40 oz of liquids (Water, Isopure, & Powerade) Two weeks out - I can have a full snack size pudding without any trouble, a full packet of cream of wheat etc. I have lost 15 pounds already ! My biggest troubles have been - Reflux No bath, shower only Belly button hurt pretty bad for a while Didnt use the bathroom till day 14 - But wasnt in pain because of that I got really hungry, 3x's !!!!! Thats it As you can see these are not really troubles - I'm so Thankful On the other hand - I read complete HORROR stories about this surg. One of my closest friends is going thru it now. She is 6 months post op, went in to hospital last week with fever, has a small leak, stint didnt work, she has pneumonia, a drain, a pic line. Now is on feeding tube and had another surg this AM to make a second passage to her small intestine because of the pressure inside of her new sleeve ????? I dont understand any of that, all I know is - Anything is possible. I am now scared to death for my recovery & my friends. I understood the risk prior to surgery, but now wondering..... Is it really possible to have this easy of a recovery or am I about to get slammed with loads of complications ? Did any of you have it this easy, I really need to know.
