The Need To Feed - Myself !
Nancy, howbfar out are you ? Not everyone gets this. It usually happens if you eat too much or too fast. If this happens you Will know. Its an excessive amout of salivia that you produce, so much so that I keep a cup with me to not have to go to the bathroom to spit every 30 seconds. Foam is also produced, its just terrible. When you "vomit" its not like what you would expect, its an actual slime ball, im sorry i know this is disgusting. This happens to me most of the time if i eat anything other han pudding or yogurt. It happens when i chew min of 40 times & also if i wait 5 min before taking a second bite. Hope you never encounter this !

The Need To Feed - Myself !
my surg was 1/24/12, I can only eat max 3 small bites of most any type of food before getting foams / slimes. I measure, i watch he clock, I only try foods that seem to chew easy, dissolve etc... Yes I know the point of the surgery was restriction of food intake, the point of the surg was not to stop eating entirely ! I was told I should not be this limited at my stage of the game, I am not nauseated - simply foam & slime. Carbs go down so easy, I can tolerate rice & pasta & tortilla chips so easy. Please dont give me any trouble about the fact that I have tried those food items. I have simply gotton to the point where I have to eat something ! Bloodwork was perfect, physical was fine. Please tell me where you all were at approx 9 weeks out, what items could you eat & qty (i know it varies, i just need examples) For example - the other night at dinner, my friends 3 year old child - ate approx 4x's the amount of food I could handle & he finished his dinner long before I did. I guess the good news is, I'm down 35 LBS Thanks !!

8 Weeks Post Op
I dont know If I mentioned something about jumping ahead of the diet - I have never done that. If anything I progressed slower than my doctors diet. I was simply mentioning that I dont get in all of my protein & that whatever I do eat is such a small amount - That I think its slowing my weight loss down. I simply wanted to know where everyone else was at 8 weeks. Thanks

Worried About Recovery Room Pain & Nausea
This was also my biggest fear. I worried for weeks about post op pain & Nausea. Let it go ! I woke up, dont remember the first hour of recovery, but after that - I was fine. I was walking laps within 3 hrs post op. yes its uncomfortable to move quick or get out of the bed, but if you take your time You'll be fine. Nausea, I was VERY concerned about. I requested pre-op to have a scopolimine patch (I know I spelt that wrong) & Zofran. I also told them pre op that I dindnt want IV pain meds - That I would request them if I needed. I took zero Pain meds until bedtime & that was really because I knew it would help me sleep - Not so much because of pain. I was given liquid lortab & it worked. I promise You'll be very suprised at the post op feelings - It was not 1/4 of what I had expected. My belly button hurt the worst of all - Thats it. Yes you will walk slow, have aching pain, and get in and out of the car VERY slowly. HOpe you have a speedy recovery. I dont know how you can find it, but I posted somewhere on here to someone else about post op, explaining what to have with you post op. If I find it I'll get it to you.

Concerned
Fever of 100 started last night. Surgery was 1/24/12, I have not had any post op issues so far. Fever of 100 started last night , still here today. Slight headache, lower back pain for days now but I was sure that was due to the way i was sleeping. Now im greatly concerned ! My doctor is 3 hrs away, so I'll go to my local GP in the AM. Has anyone had this ?????

Back Pain
I have read that back pain could be a sign of a leak. My question is - What type of pain. Both the left and right sides of my back have been aching for a few weeks, It feels as though it's a muscular issue & not actual internal pain. I had my friend try to rub on each side & it was too painful - She told me she had not even rubbed my back yet, only applied light pressure with her hands. I'm thinking it could possibly be the way I'm sleeping ? anyway, did any of you have this ? (It's def not my kidneys)

Stuck At 180
I stopped weighing myself everyday - due to frustration. For two weeks now I have been at 178-180. I started this surg at 200 on 1/24/12. I am getting 60 oz of fluid a day and 50grams of protein, I know I need more protein, but did any of you have this stall ? Do I need more calories, (I will admit I dont eat much at all). Any help to continue to move forward ??? Thanks

Ladies - Starting Weight 200
I'm 30 days post op (sleeved on 1-24-12) & wondering about weight. I'm 5'6" and surgery weight was 200. I am now at 177. I know we all drop weight at a different rate -but I keep wondering about my "goal" weight. Did most of you get to your goal & what was your goal weight. I have set mine for 130. How long did it take you to get there ? What size do you wear now ? So curious because I dont remember weighing 130 - EVER. Thanks !

Powerade Zero - Grape & Strawberry flavors - It's .88 for a 32 oz bottle at Target & Wal Mart. also, Isopure protein water 40 grams of protein in a 20 OZ bottle, available at GNC for 5$ a bottle. I drink a bottle of each per day , plus 2 bottles of 16oz Water. HYDRATE is # 1 concern for the first few weeks !!!!

Post Op Period/cycle, Need Help
Can someone please send me the link or thread to any subject matter pertaining to post op periods or cycles. I cant seem to find any - but do remember reading them a while back. I started yesterday, & ohhhhh gosh. Never had this sort of headache & backpain. I need a resolution to this so I can figure out a way to go into work. I dont have fever so I'm certain this is period related & not a sleeve leak.

Ate 4Oz Piece Of Fish.. Only Took 2 Hours!
Looks like we were sleeved on the same day, go to my profile & see what I just posted. I'm still 4 weeks from being able to have fish. 20 min ago, I thought I was going to be smothered to death by a 1/4 size baby bite of pound cake. I suggest we stick with small size soft foods ! LOL . Best of luck, I cant wait until I can have fish.

Owww. Never Again !
Tonight is day 22. I had less than 1/4 cup of potato soup, waited one hour & had my first cheat & my first attempt at something other than pudding, cottage cheese, jello, cheese & soup. I took a baby spoon and had a small bite of pound cake. OH MY !!!! STUCK !!! This is my first run in with my sleeve. Pain & Panic ! Please tell me his isnt how I'll spend the rest of my life with the sleeve once I move on to food. First cheat - kicked my butt. Will not be atempting this again any time soon.

7 Days Post Op With Stuck Feeling In Throat

Dr Doesn't Check For Leaks Per Se.....how Will I Know If I''m Leak-Free?
There must be a misunderstanding - Your Doctor didnt check for leaks while you were on the operating table or prior to your discharge from the hospital ????? If so, you demand one ! Possibly with another Doctor. I'm sorry for being abrupt about this but it's COMPLETELY unheard of that this was not provided. Why the low grade temp ? Did they explain signs of a leak to you - So you'll know what to pay attention to ? I'm still trying to understand why you didnt get a leak test - It's similar to saying you had vertical sleeve surgery without anesthesia. Really - thats how much sense that makes.

Getting Sleeved On The 16Th! A Few Questions For Those Who Have Been Already...:)
I was sleeved Jan 24th at 7 AM. I also had hernia repair at the time of my surgery. I woke up with very very little pain. It's more like muscle soreness from doing too many sit ups. I didnt take pain meds until bedtime (because I wanted to be able to sleep, not so much because of the pain). I was more concerned with Nausea & not pain ( I had never had any type of surgery - NOTHING ) I had no nausea at all - still havent. I am still on full liquids and pudding, yogurt. cheese, very soft foods. Your belly button will probally be sore - Everyone is different, but I really cant imagine a large amount of pain - but I know it's possible. Walk as soon as your allowed, to get rid of gas. The gas pressure is what I really dealt with for a few days. Also bring a small travel pillow with you for the drive home, put the pillow against your stomach then put on your seatbelt. This helps ALOT, bring that pillow with you everytime your in the car. Dont wear any pants that button or zip, only elastic waist. Getting in and out of the bed is a slight struggle. Prop up about 3-4 pillows againts your headboard - getting out of your bed from a upright position is alot less painfull than from a laying down position. If your bed/mattress is high up - have a small step stool next to your bed to help getting in and out. Also, sleep with as many pillows as you can to keep your head in the upright position in order to not have acid reflux - This helps me alot. Feel free to ask any other questions ! I promise this surgery will be alot easier than you expect (if I had to - I'd do it again) Follow all of the rules, dont skip ahead on your diet & dont lift anything heavy , you never want to risk a leak !!!
