Please point to the post where someone is laughing at the OP. He got some good advice, got his question answered...then the whole thread sorta spiraled out of control, but so what. There is nothing wrong with laughing....especially at ourselves.

    We're sick, you know that?

Getting sleeved Monday July 30th in Chico CA...can hardly wait! Have a huge support group with family and friends who are cheering me on. Bestie from TX is flying in to help out. She and my brother both had RNY and will be at hospital and home. My workout buddy of 2years treated me to a lovely pedicure....feel so blessed. Great mojo as I get ready for my new chapter! Good luck to all other July 30th pals.....

My experience was good, no major issues. This was my first surgery besides outpatient knee arthroscopy, so not a lot to compare it to. The nurses who checked me in and did all the prep were very nice, and the head of their bariatric center came and spoke to me at length. The room was nice, thankfully private. Most of the nurses I had were top notch, though the night staff was not the best. Just lack of personality and empathy. They allowed us to bring a recliner from another room for my husband to sleep in, though we got yelled at later by another woman because that chair was from the diabetic area and wasn't supposed to be moved. I complained about her. The staff on the second day was a little lacking in that they didn't communicate with me very well what was going on, if I could go home or was having to stay longer. I rang the nurses station a lot and they took their sweet time to come talk to me. Though I wasn't in pain or anything, and it turned out to be a lot of "oh I thought X person was doing your paperwork."
Otherwise, no complications. OR was very clean, and I generally had everything I needed. Best of luck to you!

It is funny how it really is the little things in life that make all the difference. And also how we take so many dumb little details for granted. If you are going to be in a chair for hours on end, it becomes important. It is not just a chair issue it is a "taking care of yourself issue." So glad you got what you wanted.

Hey guys, Lately I have been waking up with HUGE morning boner. Maybe TMI but its like a third bigger and thicker than my usual erections. I wish I could harness it and have it all the time, not that im lacking im a human tripod ya know but this is some serious lumber. I was wondering if any of you guys have had the same issue, is it the weight loss or something else? Maybe my nightly Vitamins or Protein Shake? Gotta remember to be careful, almost took out the bedside lamp getting outta bed this morning

So as most of you big guys know from experience that it is a pain in the butt to find an office chair (any chair) with armrest that don't pinch your sides. Now im a big guy, 498 to be exact and the biggest issue I always find going out to eat or to the movies is will I fit in the seats they have. But I never thought I would feel like that at home. So before I got my "Fat Man Chair sent from the Gods" I had a very nice La-Z-Boy office chair with arm rest given to use by my mother-in-law. It was a bit snug and as I got bigger it just started pinching the heck out of my sides and leaving marks. Mind you I didnt spend to much time in the chair because I had been injured and used my laptop in bed mostly. So finally I was like ok let me take of the armrest and oh how it was comfortable. Only problem is because of my weight I had bent the plastic legs that connect to the casters and basically the bottom center of the char hit the floor and scrarched it up. I started up at college full time online from home and I was using the desk for all my studies so I was spending 3-4 hours a day on it. So I got rid of the old chair and started using a folding chair, big mistake, I have severe back issues and the hard chair just killed it. I was looking around on livingxl for chair that would work and wow they were expensive, im a stay at home dad and a full time student, so spending a minimum of $400 on a office shair was not going to happen. So i started taking summer school classes and oh man, my days are long. For those of you who have taken a Summer semester of college know how intense and long those 4-5 weeks are. So after the first week I calculated I had spent over 50 hours at my desk and since one of my classes is a computer science Unix class I was hacking away for hours. I finally broke downa dn was like "OK, I need this chair no matter what. your back is killing you and yoou deserve some comfort" So I started looking on livingxl again and found a $399 chair on clearance for $250, oh yeah what a steal...But wait, can I find a Promo code..YUP good ole Independence Day, I ended getting an additional 10% off plus only $4 shipping for a 58lb. chair...Score, I ended up paying less that $240 shipped. Now 4 days into using my chair I am so happy and my back and sides love me for it.
Hope you guys enjoyed my little story....

Hey Carlos. I'm also in the San Jose area but getting my sleeve done at Stanford last week of July.
I think you're doing an amazing job and you sound like a wonderful father. Don't worry, next week is July already and August will be here before you know it.
I can relate to your story as my husband is also a stay at home dad to our 19-month son. He too is overweight though his BMI is not as bad as mine. He's decided to follow me though and eat what I do (just slightly more) including the 2-week liquid diet. I'm excited for both of us.
Keep us updated and best of luck to you.

Hi everyone I finally had the nerve and time to post a little bit about my story and how to I got to where I am today. Currently I am 6 weeks away from my Sleeve. My name is Carlos im 32 years old and married with a 7 month old baby boy. I am a stay at home Dad and a full time student.
So I have always been a heavy guy as a teen and adult, I always weighed around 350. I was a big boy but very active, I worked out and was on my feet all day at work. I was an audio video installer and had been in the field for some years before I was injured. In October of 2008 I had a spnal injury on the job and have been off ever since. During that time I put on 200 more lbs. yup... I maxed out at 550.. The firt time I got on the scale and had seen tose numbers I couldnt believe it and then it sank in and I cried. The first two years after my injury I was on painkillers like clockwork and didn't even leave the house let alone leave my bedroom. I started to notice a change in my health and in those three and a half years I had issues with severe sleep apnea, chest pains, arthritis in both my knees, high blood pressure and thyroid issues. When I found out my wife was pregnant in march of 2011 something in me changed and I was determined to be healthy for myself and my family. I decided to finally finish college after all this time and was even able to stay home full time with my son and do my courses online from city college. I am determined to ge myhealth back and to find myself again, my wife has been by me through all my health issues and I know I get short tempered with her and it's only because I'm physically frustrated. I have a closet full of clothes I can't even fit. Oh...BTW my wife got pregnant after we both had done Weight watchers and I had lost 50 lbs. and she lost 25 lbs. we had been trying to have a Baby for about 4 years.
So I'm now finally approved by both my insurance companies and I'm due for surgery July 25 th in San Jose, CA about an hour drive from San Francisco.
I am so nervous and scared at the same time. I just started my liquid diet today and will be doing it for 6 weeks, I currently Weigh 516 and my goal is 480 by surgery day. My doc wanted metro do a long liquid diet because of my size and also becaue the hospital policy says I have to be under 500 for them to do surgery on me..
Thanks for reading my posting.....Good luck all you sleevers out there
