  1. Hi, I recently got my surgery date of Feb 6th. I am beyond excited! It's becoming official now. I can't help but be completely obsessed with this site. I love hearing everyone's personal stories and experiences as we travel through our journey. Right now, I HATE SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES! I hate the feeling of just buying "anything that fits". I'm so obsessed with black clothing. My personal goal is to be able to wear a nice WHITE DRESS and feel comfortable with the way I look. I know that sounds crazy!!!
  2. Wow...that was a great post!! I have high blood pressure as well, which makes me a little nervous about the surgery.(actually, last night it was 207/125) Thank you for sharing!!
  3. Hey ladies, Congrats on your surgeries!! You'll both do fine . Wishing you both a quick recovery!
  4. You finally made it to this day!! Good Luck with everything!! You'll be fine. When you're up to it, let us know how you feel....
  5. Thanks ladies... It took about 3 days to hear back from the insurance company. I'm so excited, but nervous at the same time.
  6. Good Morning All, I have been reading everyone's posts and getting some really good information from you all. I love that there is a place where people understand my decision, and don't judge me. Yes, some of my family have told me that the sleeve wasn't a good idea, but like most of you all...i'm doing it for ME and MY CHILDREN, no one else. I have a 5 year old daughter (will be 6 in feb) and a 18 month old little boy. Both my 2 sisters and father have diabetes and high blood pressure. Currently, I just have high blood pressure, but with my family history, diabetes is on its way. I have been overweight for a most of my life. I am 26 years old, and my BMI is 41. I started my journey in October and decided to go with the sleeve. I have heard stories about the lap band, and my mother-in-law had the bypass years ago. I chose the sleeve because of the benefits and the complications seem to be minimal compared to the bypass. I am excited about my new life ahead of me! I spoke with my rep from the surgeons office, and she told me that my insurance approved me for the surgery, so its really happening!!! Everything is happening so quickly. I'm excited, and nervous at the same time. Reading everyone's posts daily gave me the encouragement I needed to make this decision. I want to personally thank EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU who took time out to talk about your experience. I'm sure a lot of us appreciate your stories . ***And can someone please help me with the ticker. I haven't figured out how to install it to my profile yet.*****
  7. I am so happy for you!!! Congrats again on your journey to "Onederland"
  8. Thank you for your support!!! I am excited about this. My grandmother was on dialysis as well so I know how draining that is. I have two children (a 5 year old girl, and a 18 month little boy) and I want to be able to live a full and healthy life for them. I have an appt to see the pulmonary doctor tomorrow, and my psych eval on the 6th of December. I scheduled my cardiac appt for January 5th, so everything is moving along! Can't wait for my new lifestyle, and to be able to feel good about myself when i'm in public. I will keep everyone updated on my progress.
  9. Hi, I am the new girl! . I just decided to get the sleeve after months of debating. On thing that really helped me with my decision was this website! I have been on here for a couple months now reading everyone's post about their personal stories and can't wait to start mine. I have been overweight for a while now and I have high blood pressure. Both my older sister and father have Type 2 diabetes, and I don't want to be next. I just initially went to see my surgeon last week, and he seems to feel that if i get my pre op appointments done in the next month, I may be able to have the procedure at the end of January!
