  1. I think its cuz being GLBT has so little to do with our journey on this site. I know for me, this thread is an afterthought. Im usually looking at others more specific to the surgery. But it's nice to pop in here from time to time and see how everyone here is doing.
  2. Thanks DD. Congrats on your success. I expect to be a slow loser. I'm 5'0. And a bmi of 39. I feel good about my decision to have Dr. Kelly perform surgery. Guess I was just hoping someone had had a recent experience with the new staff. I know Omar was very personable (I prefer that personal touch. I guess) and good at what he did. Hoping the experience in its entirety is as good as others I've read.
  3. My surgery is March 28th. I had become quite comfy with Omar, and confident with the service provided by him detailed by previous patients. Alina is the lady now answering emails. She seems nice, and answers promptly. Can anyone give a testimony to their experience since Omar's departure?? I just want to know that the full experience is still a positive one, part of my decision besides Dr. Kelly's reputation.
  4. IMHO..anything that offers a full body workout by just standing there and being vibrated is about the same as "take this pill and get a beach body in 30 days while eating what you want"...smile, again..just my opinion.
  5. I thought u and your wife were headed to Garcia. I changed my mind a couple of times too. Its hard to choose, but you'll know when u find a doc you're comfy with. Good luck.
  6. 3 mos to go...headed to Dr. Ramos Kelly in TJ. As fast as 2012 has gone, I sure hope Jan-Mar 2013 go faster. Good luck in the New Year all.
  7. Happy Holidays. Hope u had a great one!
  8. Congrats! Amazing and inspiring. I'm 3 months away from my sleeve. Your success makes me excited to get started!
  9. I told my pcp. She feels I'm making the best decision for my health and is supporting me. She agreed to continue seeing me afterwards.
  10. Another idea is Shrimp..highest protein behind Chicken. 3oz shrimp(approx 3-4 medium) = 18 grams protein. Easily packable for work/outings as well.
  11. Are u taking a B12 sup? Bleeding gums can be an indicator of a deficiency of B12. Try a sub lingual..walmart carries them.
  12. Measureofme and other upcoming Kelly sleevers, congrats. I'll be looking for your posts. I go 3/28 with Dr. Kelly. I've heard wonderful things and continue to eat up the info when I see other patients. So few post more than a few months out. The Kelly patient bloggers seem to fade out after a couple months. Lol I guess they are too busy enjoying life than to sit at a computer posting. Who can blame them? Good luck to you.
  13. Glad you're doing well. Good things to come! ; )
  14. Hope your doing well. Best wishes fora speedy recovery.
  15. Amytug, I've noticed the same trend with the surgeons. I trird posting a sx date, starting wt,surgeon question before trying to gauge wt loss/time. It seems Almanza,Garcia pts lose faster. Im going to Kelly but I think his pts lose slower. He uses a 36. The others use a 32. Don't know if this is the reason, or if its truly pt related. The size of bougie difference is minimal but I wonder if it still plays a role.
  16. Congrats. You'll be running and playing with those boys before u know it!
  17. Congrats on your progress and your journey to a healthier, happier you!
  18. Fresh market carries a great selection of dried veggies..green beans are my fave, beets, zucchini, carrot slices and many others. You purchase them by weight. But doing your own sounds like a great idea. You know what's in it for sure then. Hmm, thinking I may try this too. : )
