  1. Alrighty then, pillow ...check, translator app ...check :smile1:...Hope all is well!...you're probably SLEEVED by now Yay!!!!
  2. Wishing you all the best! THANK YOU SO MUCH! for the update. It really calms my nerves reading your updates. Now I can't wait to be there next month! Wishing you a speedy recovery after surgery this morning! Do you think I should bring a pillow? I keep hearing that from people that have been to Star Medica. Thanks girly.
  3. Chyna86, Nope. Only my Dad and he probably thinks I won't do it so he's not worried. No one else. Ofcourse my husband. My kids are too young to understand. I told my husband about all issues w/ Dr. Kelly and ALM. I honestly love Ms. Sandy and Linda. Ms. Sandy is very passionate about what she does regardless of what anyone else says but there was so much going on there that when I decided to book again my husband thought it would be best to go w/ someone else all together hence Dr. Rod at Star Medica. I spoke to him two days ago and he is just terrific too. But I don't think you can go wrong w/ Dr. Garcia too. @RahV..Can I also have your contact number..I need a support buddy lol and I want to know about how you are progressing too.
  4. I unfortunately had to tell my boss in order to request time off.Glad you have someone who is not judging you get's it. Yes, booked my flight as soon as I saw that Southwest was having a sale. I am actually going to Dr. Jose Rodriguez bin Juarez, mexico at Star Medica at the end of March. I have heard nothing but positive things about Dr. Garcia though.
  5. Yikes...sounds like you have it under control though. Be careful
  6. Hi Chyna, Yes. It really does suck. I have told a bunch of co-workers too and only one lady Robin (she is super cool) has not passed judgment .There is another co-worker who is just too awesome. She has been my motivator and mentor giving me food recipes and mini counseling sessions to face the main reason why I overeat. And I believe my answer came today during one of those talks. I don't blame you for not wanting to tell your family till after. They just make the process harder because they do not provide the emotional support...in my case anyways. Best of luck to you Chyna. I am still going for the surgery though. Mar 29th..Star Medica
  7. That is just awesome! good for you. Wishing you the best w/ the wedding.
  8. Fern, you just said everything I go through lately. I started a new job about 7 months ago and although I love the work and my direct team mate, most of my days are filled with worrying about if I did some of the work incorrectly because it's a very small office and perfection is key there. To help me deal with the anxiety I have turned to food during and after work. So within 6 months I have gained over 20 lbs. I need to figure out a way to stop having those anxieties and realize (which I found out yesterday that some of the people that have been there over 10 year make worse mistakes) . I have never thought of myself as a worthy person. I always sell myself short and confidence has been decreasing with every pound I gain. I am praying for an attitude change. And to remember what is important. My life, my family and my happiness. I have to start realizing I am worthy too. Reading your post just brought out all kinds of emotions. Thank you guys for sharing.
  9. Wow Nursemichele, China really...that is AWESOME!! I would love to visit China some day. I am a world traveler too best of luck w/ your surgery in April!
  10. Hi Shannon, I am getting sleeved by Dr. Rodriguez on March 29th in Juarez, Mexico. I used to live in Pflugerville, closed to Grand Avenue Parkway in Windermere. I plan to go to Juarez by myself. My husband is so supportive and against going by myself but we have two little boys and I just feel better knowing he is with them. If you need a post-op buddy let me know but from reading blogs for a couple of month I think we will be A-OK. I live in Round Rock. Best of luck w/ your upcoming surgery.
  11. My BMI is 34.6 and I was advised to do the pre-op diet for at least 7 days prior to surgery because of exactly what Circa explained.
  12. Thanks guys. I think I will target a returning to work on April 9th. Circa, You have also given me a great idea to try to work half days if possible so I don't get too tired. I've heard a lot of people saying there get really tired easily. Thanks guys!
  13. Circa, I have my surgery scheduled in March. And I really don't have a lot of time to take off sick and/or vacation. I have an office job sitting in a cube working on a computer for the most part. Do you think 5 days off will be good ? My surgery is 3/30. Planning on returning to work April 5th. Does that sound realistic at all ? Thanks guys
  14. I got my refund within hours (paid with a mastercard). Try talking to Sandy too. I think Linda has been very busy lately.
  15. That's exciting. I am scheduled for March 30th too...with Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez, Mexico.
  16. Yay Raja !!!!!!!!!! So excited for you I am sending good vibes your way. Best of luck and keep us posted. Blessings, Jewel
  17. I scheduled with Dr. Rodriguez too for March 30th in Juarez Mexico. His credentials are awesome. I know a guy's friend works at the American Embassy in Juarez and he cannot say enough good things about this hospital. I also love the fact that I will be in a hospital all 4 days. Very excited for you. Great choice. I have to say though A Lighter Me peeps were very nice to me. I thought of re-booking w/ them but they have a lot on their plate right now w/ Dr. Kelly-Dr. Garcia situation. Didn't want to bother them. But Sandy and Ms. Linda were very nice. Star Medica IT IS!!! If you use google earth you can see how nice the area is too.
  18. Wishing you all the best.
  19. @rahnava, best of luck to you! @adamsmom...THANK YOU! I think you just gave me the motivation and info I need to do this! Thanks
  20. My husband, sister and co-workers have staged an "intervention" and want me to try working out and have forced me to cancel. I honestly know how it'll go but will give it a chance.
  21. Just wanted to give you an updated. So I decided to cancel my surgery date w/ A Lighter Me...I was scheduled w/ Dr. Garcia as you know already. Let me tell you..the people at A Lighter Me are professionals. Ms. Sandy Johnston is a classy lady and I believe she is passionate about helping people. I don't think it is all about profit for her. They refunded all my money including the 3% processing fee back to my card within an hour or so. I was just blown away by how nice and caring they were. She even called to follow up with me after I cancelled! We all know most businesses don't do that. If anyone is not sure about Dr. Garcia and/or A Lighter Me...Pls do not have any doubts. Those people are there to help. And no I am not being paid by anyone lol...
  22. So I spoke with Ms. Sandy earlier tonight briefly. I have decided to stay w/ Dr. Garcia for good reason. I am not going to get into the details of our conversation bcos some might dismiss the details as just a smearing campaign. All I can say is we all need to do our research. Dr. Kelly is a great bariatric surgeon but since I have already paid my deposit I am going to stick w/ Dr. Garcia. I feel good about it after speaking w/ Sandy. Good luck to us all.
  23. Hi Adamsmom, I think the doctor's office you choose to go to can give you an invoice that you can give to your fsa vendor and they will cut a check directly to the doctor/coordinator as long as your doctor provides a letter stating it is medically necessary. I am in the same boat as you are. My insurance might pay if I go through hoops and feilds and everything else but I don't want to deal w/ the hassle honestly. I've had two major surgeries in the US and both have left me w/ never ending bills.
