  1. Yay, good for you! It is exciting to be starting a new chapter in life. Although the 6 month diet requirement stinks I feel it gave me a lot of time to prepare. I only wish I had been smart like you and found this website before my surgery! Congrats to you on the beginning of your journey. I look forward to seeing your progress
  2. I hope so too 4mykids..good luck! Although I've only had the one...stalls stink!
  3. People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily. -Zig Ziglar
  4. That is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your story and giving hope to others. Praise God for your healing and restoration!
  5. Great idea Joiebean! I put my scale in the laundry room so I only weigh myself about once a week when I do laundry. I SO totally agree with going by how you feel instead of looking at the numbers. Lately I have been oober-stressing over calories instead of the more important things like protein and fluids. I'm just going to eat right and let my body tell me what I need to do rather than count myself to death by calories and pounds.
  6. Yay! I broke my almost 3 week stall by losing 5 pounds since Tuesday! AND it's my 1st 20 pounds down since surgery!!! I am so happy Just thought I'd share
  7. Oh good, well hopefully you'll be feeling much better soon! It does get easier to get more down after the 1st couple of weeks once the swelling starts to go down.
  8. LOL Lilee! I am guilty of that as well! But not every morning...sometimes it's in the afternoon. I also drink 16oz of coffee every morning although that's more than I should have.
  9. I had similar problems with gas and acid in the beginning. Nothing wanted to stay down, at least not comfortably! I had to sleep sitting up for almost 2 weeks because the reflux was so painful. In the hospital they gave me a bottle of baby gas medicine Simethicone. That helped a lot. You don't have to do the baby drops, they have chewable stuff like Gas X, but the drops went down better at first. Also after taking my Protonics regularly for several days I felt much better. Does your doctor have you on any acid blockers?
  10. Lol, yeah me too. I figured the doctors scale would be a couple pounds more but since I haven't been weighing myself I was hoping I'd lost some weight. I'm not sure, maybe this matters...? I looked back at my food entries in MyFitnessPal and I realized I selected the wrong protein shake for almost a week so instead of counting 30g it was only counting 10g. So, I ended up going over the daily protein requirement for several days. My doctor says to meet 60g but I've been trying to do up to 80g to hopefully avoid hair loss.
  11. Thank you Rootman, I like that quote. You pretty much summed it up!
  12. I'm really trying to change my life for the better but coworkers, friends, family...it seems everywhere I turn I'm being asked to go out to eat somewhere. Or any events that are planned include cake, cookies, cupcakes and other foods. Hell, I walked into a gym yesterday where they had a table of cookies and cupcakes set up for purchase. At a gym...Really?! It's like this food Devil knows my every weakness and is following me everywhere I go! LOL! I know there are other things to do besides eat. I need to be doing those things. Lord please help me overcome this food issue because it doesn't seem like there is any way I can avoid food altogether!
  13. Thanks for the recipes ladies, I will have to try them out. Oh yes, I am used to the Protein smell! I usually mix my drinks in a Blender Bottle and drink it out of there or wait for the foam to go down then pour it into an empty Water bottle to take with me. This was not the usual funky protein smell. It smelled like rancid meat I didn't have an issue with their vanilla but tried the unjury unflavored twice and after getting a few sips down the second time I got really sick to my stomach. I emailed them explaining the odor and taste. They agreed that is abnormal and they think I may have gotten a bad batch. They're giving me a refund and sending me a new container to try for free. They want me to send the original container back so they can test it. I doubt they'll let me know if anything was actually wrong with it but I am kinda hoping there was and that the new one they send me is just fine. I don't want to have to go back to the gritty pieces of GNC protein powder floating in the bottom of my drink!
  14. Thanks missmeow I definitley agree! I usually weigh myself in the morning but the dr. appt. was in the afternoon after eating and drinking water all day. And I know I am not getting enough fiber in but it isn't for lack of trying! Some of the fiber supplements are awful!
  15. Oh, wow...you'll be awake? They put me to sleep so I def had to have someone drive me home. Although the drug they used on me wore off really quickly. I felt good enough that I could have driven myself home. If they're not putting you under then I'm really not sure. Sorry!
  16. Thanks Indymom. I checked my scale when I got home and they are about the same. Oh well! I know almost everyone has a stall at 3 weeks and I'm sure starting back on solid foods my body is still wondering what the heck is going on because I keep changing what I'm eating.
  17. Okay, got weighed at the doctor's office and I'm back over 200 pounds! Boohoo!
  18. Had my 1 month follow up visit with the doc today and his scale says I weigh 200. My last weigh in on my scale a week ago said 198. I'm a little disappointed, upset even. But on a lighter note, he gave me the green light to start working out so after I left his office I went and joined a gym. That's worth something even if I have only lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks right?
  19. I had some tuna toward the end of week 2. It was a little uncomfortable going down but I was fine afterward. Hopefully you chewed it up really well and then chewed it some more! Be careful thou! I cheated and luckily am doing okay but it wasn't wise for me to deviate from the doctor's diet. You can apparently still have leaks several months out. Reading posts from people who have had leaks makes me never, ever want to experience one!
  20. I may come back and whine after my doctor's appointment if I haven't lost any weight but for now I will just whine about missing my scale. I put it away so that I wouldn't be tempted to weigh myself every 5 minutes. I know it may be crazy but I actually miss my scale! Every time I walk into the bathroom and see the empty spot where it used to be I want to weigh myself! UGH! But, I have been good. It is put away and I will not know my weight until the doctor weighs me this afternoon. It will feel better to hear pounds lost in a week or so rather than seeing a pound lost today and gained back tomorrow because I'm weighing myself so darn much.
  21. Yay! Congrats and good luck with your surgery!
  22. Wow, you look so good girl! Can't wait to see the bathing suit photos. I'm hoping that one day I'll be able to feel comfortable enough to wear one! Daytona Beach is fun, you'll have a blast. The Sling shot is absolutely terrifying! Gotta try it, at least once and keep your eyes open!
  23. A test, lol...that's kinda weird. Well, I'm sure you did great. Let me know when you get that approval!!!
