That looks like retained food. I've been doing this for a while and coughed up grey pieces of old food...nasty. Get your band checked out ASAP.

Never seen anything like that either. I had a slip, and got brownish/red spit up, but I ad agree, looks like mucus. Best wishes on you search and recovery. Karen

From what I was reading, it seems grey vomit is a sign of bile.
It could be from your band being too tight. Do you still have your gallbladder? Apparently that can cause it, too.

Debora... i can assure you, im not doing all the right things with my diet yet... im post op four weeks. i havent had a fill yet and my appetite is getting to be a worry for me. the colder weather is setting in here and my appetite always spikes now . i know that there is emotional hunger as well as physical hunger. im not sure just how much of what im experiencing right now but whatever it is, its giving me problems. i cant wait for my first fill. i wonder what i will be like after that? without the fill i do experience some restriction, no doubt about that. ive come close to being stuck a few times but managed to get out of it. I havent lost any weight for a week now. i havent gained either but i may start to if i cant stop eating more than im supposed to. i am supposed to have 100 cals per day.

the size should be the size of the fingernail on your little finger. This appears to be the rule for all solids.. and then chew, chew chew.

One thing I keep thinking about with this "lifestyle change" I'm supposed to have is that if this was a change I was capable of making and sticking to..then I really wouldn't have needed the lap band. My doctor wants me on a diet very close to the Atkins low carb diet, and I know that works because I lost 50lbs on it once. However, if I had been able to stick to it as a lifestyle, I would have lost more and kept it all off.
They keep saying the lap band is a tool...but it's only a physical tool, not an emotional one. I guess I was thinking the emotional part would kick in at some point..I'm just wondering where that point is, and where it kicked in for those further down this road...

I too have had experience with the first 4 steps. Those were the only ones that I completed - and that was like 20 years ago.
Good Luck - it is not an easy journey. It was always emotionally draining to me.
Step 4 was familiar to me, but I couldn't remember it - so I went in search of.
I found a website that offers the actual worksheets with instructional pages. This was pretty good - I almost forgot that I was posting here....lol.

Enjoy - I hope this help for some of you. Good luck!

To be honest, I don't measure foods or count calories. Have not in over a year.
I eat whenever I'm hungry..which isn't as often as before being banded, And I eat till I'm satisfied or the band prohibits me from continuing, which isn't much.
One has to learn to listen to their band and know the signals.

I was banded on 2-15 and am also waiting for my first fill (come on Friday)! Don't be mad at yourself this is the early stages of our journey and it will get better...I too have a sweet tooth and have found a nice little Protein Shake that tastes like strawberry quick when I'm feeling weak...I have also been taking in more fluids to tame that head hunger and stepping up the exercise...the weight loss will happen:)

If I were you, make sure you do liquids the first 2 days and mushies on day 3, then start regular food on the 4th day. I have had Fluid taken out 2 times where my band was filled less than I am now. But I know it is because I started eating reg food right away, more than likely I was swollen from the fill. Good luck. I have a size 10 band too and I am filled to 6.85. I still fee like I need a little bit more, can't wait for my appt in 2 weeks.

You know I thought I would absolutely DIE if I couldn't drink before, after, and ESPECIALLY during my meals!!!! However now, after being banded for 81/2 months, I NEVER miss it!! What you'll find, as time goes on, is that drinking with or too close to a meal just makes everything kind of slosh around. It's very uncomfortable so you will soon, with proper restriction, not want to drink with or just after eating!! Really!!!

I started mushies on Thursday , to be honest , I actually felt a lot better! I think getting some solid Protein in was helpful... I had scrambled egg whites, cottage cheese, hummus, and tuna salad
Still eating everything in very small portions, sometimes can't finish all, but overall feeling really good

I don't have to cook for anyone but me, so that makes things a little easier. I was a regular at my favorite cupcake place. They expected me every week. They probably think I've died. I'm just taking it one day at a time. That's all I can do. In the meantime, I suck on sugare free fruit pops for dessert. You probably don't have a Trader Joe's where you live. They have a great sugar free low carb chocolate.< /p>

I don't know the carbs. You're dealing with the tequila and the lime juice for carbs-- more if you use the agave. I'll search around.

There is the skinny margarita: lime juice, tequila, splash of soda Water and agave.. A lot of places don't have agave, so I have it without. It's tart, but it's fine with me. This was all pre-surgery, though.

and i agree with you. health comes first, thats for sure. i will ring my dietician on monday hopefully. i havent spoken to her yet . i know my g.p talked about it. well.. to be honest, i didnt think that it would be an option anyway. truthfully. im prepared to go along with what the drs tell me. if it does interfere with the new pouch then certainly i dont want to run the risk. its just not worth it. too many other health issues at stake with me.

i just had a look. as far as the calories are concerned its not too bad. im a red wine drinker, its going to hurt me to have to give up my red wine. i do like a drink to relax especially when out. what alcohol has the least calories? does anyone know?? perhaps i could have the odd drink of something other than red wine. it seems that the red wine has given me more problems with my blood pressure and it certainly has contributed to my weight gain, thats for sure. i just dont think its entirely realistic to go without having an alcoholic drink socially. what do others think?

I remember my first bite of real food, it was eggs mashed up and cottage cheese...oh delicious...I am losing weight quite fast as well, I just figured it was because of the diet they have me on and the fact that I have cut my calorie intake over half of what I used to eat....am I wrong? These first few weeks how much should I be losing? So glad to hear you are doing so well.
