  1. Best of luck to you. I do not have my surgery date (yet) but am working on my pre op schedules. I understand what kind of journey this is. You are like me. I have only let 2 people know what I am doing here at work. I am pretty much ashamed of what I look like, but am doing something about it. Just like you. Hang in there. I will watching and reading your posts to see how your journey is going.
  2. hi Joel, when you say liquid diet. can you (or someone else) give me examples of what that is? (i realize what it is) but want to get as many suggestions as i can get.
  3. joel, what did you eat after surgery? how do you if its enough? I keep reading not enough peotein could make you gain. what about coffee? diet soda? i keep thinjing i am gonna mess this uo somehow.
  4. on my visit last week with my surgeon, he just talked to me. you will be fine. i too am ashamed and disappointed. but your making a change for you. for your health,. that is somethng to be proud of yourself for.
  5. I dont know if i can walk that far per day YET, but I intend to get there. One step at a time.

  9. HI Annie. I spoke with my surgeon just last week for my first appt. He went over the bypass and the lap band with me. He discussed what to expect and that it would be up to me on how successful I wanted my lap band to be. I also met with the financial officer and got assigned a fantastic case mgr who is helping me each step of the way. Just go and get the info and be yourself. You will do fine.

  11. Hi Tina. I am on Tricare also (my hub is retired Air Force). Tricare told me there is not a waiting period but my bariatric clinic is saying that there is. So I am getting my pre-ops out of the way and doing everything I need to so my doctor can fax all the paperwork to Tricare once I have completed all the items they told me. (and if it I have to wait 5 more month, then so be it). But it is a learning process. Step by Step.

  13. I guess I am concerned about saying (something) wrong in this appt and on the mental eval appt. Can someone say the wrong things?
  14. I have my nutrition appt for this Saturday (for my pre-ops). Can anyone tell me what happens during this appt? Could they not do a clearance letter for me?
  15. i am new to this site too and am currently in process of getting my pre op scheduled and with me having a 6 month waitibg period, i am trying to remain focused in my goal also. i will have a new babt grand daughter nect month and i want her to love her mimi..........and for me to walk with her any where. u can tell it. i will be your cheer leader.
  16. monday/tuesday, i am making calls to get my pre=ops out of the way (if i have to wait the six months) i am gonna make sure i do everything right. i had a ekg not too long ago and my prinary care dr said that counts and they can also do my lab works. so that is 2 down out of the six pre ops they say i need. i did find out today my insurance wont pay for the nutritionist consult but i found a nice lady who will meet me on a weekend so i dont have to miss work.
  17. i went to my dr for a referral on a friday and i had my first eval with the sugeon 6 days later.

  23. got off phone with tricare and they said there is no 6 month wait. all i have to do is my scheduled evals (mental, labs, xraya, nutrition) and then submit for approval. i rec'vd my approval for these items today in the mail. now i feel better. 10 days ago, seminar 6 days i got my doctor referral 4 days scheduled mt 1st dr eval that i had today tomorrow plann to call my pcp and work on other items
  24. I went to my seminar and had my pcp draft a referral to tricare. And the baratric office told me toady that tricare wants me to wait 6 months?? Anyone know about tricare?? Help??
