Extra skin
a lot is based on age, the skin itself, the amount of weight etc..I have some sag, on my upper arms (I could take flight I swear) my thighs and my stomach but you know what.....I asked my ole man did he mind.....he said he'd rather have me sag then be what I use to be (weight wise) and he is right.....you can always have surgery to remove or tone as best you can.....but if there is some sag, there is just some sag......try not to worry too much about it as not a lot one can do..

Getting into exercise
well, I can only speak for me. I was 336 at surgery and could hardly walk as I hurt too bad and was just not physically able. so I walked as much as I could...and it wasn't far let me tell you. but each day, each week that passed, as the weight came off, I was able to go farther and farther and do more (walking around drug stores like walgreens with my friend Kathy, up and down the aisles at my lunch hour) helped me more than anyone knows....and that is how I did it...and just yesterday I did my first step aerobics class in 5+ yrs...what makes me do it and keep doing it.....knowing I was this close to the 400 number....and that is motivation for me to keep doing it...even when I don't want too

back to work
I have a desk job and went back after 8 days....still was tired the first couple of days though...but the others stated great info, if you lift or very active job, it def depends on you and how you are feeling. congrats on your recent surgery.

experimental surgery
i have the plication and also had the hernia repair during my surgery...my dr told me it is (new and experimental) and he did mine pro bono for that reason...he said its merely an (aid) to help my band and advised me all the requirements (eating better foods/smaller amounts/exercising) will still be needed and not to think of it as a (i just have surgery and i lose weight) type of thing...that stuck with me. i have done well but i have also been very aware of my food and my amount of food intake. i say if you can get the plication, go for it...gave me my life back

Do you count calories or just watch what you eat?
alittle of both i cant eat much (thanks to band/plication) but what i do eat, i make sure its healthy calories and by that i mean protein/fruits/veggies...def aware of knowing if i take in more cals than i can burn off, that i will gain or not lose..i say do whatever works for you

Preop/5 hour energy?
how about call and ask your dr to get their yes or no problem solved on their response

Feeling Down
why feeling bad? are you upset because you are not losing 20 pounds a day? lap band doesnt work that way 20 pounds lost is amazing but you already know that dont you? who cares what me or anyone else lost compared to you--you lose weight at your bodys pace and keep doing what you are doing as it is obviously working.. 20 pounds.....thats a bag of dog food for a week for one of my dobermans or 4 five pound bags of sugar or 4 five pound bags of potatoes........i see your loss as fantastic i sure wish you could also
-
Drinking while eating
my dr told me to stop drinking when i eat and then wait 30 min after....thats what i do i suggest anyone to do what works for them and also what one's doctor recommends because as you can see, everyone is different....thats what makes the world go round
-
Not losing much on preop. Discouraged.
unless your dr said lose this much, i feel what you have done is great... please understand the pre op is to shrink the liver in preparation for surgery...mostly Water weight but it counts and def a motivator..why discouraged? a loss is a loss...and i see no problem here except for you thinking you are doing something wrong....which you arent esp if you are following your dr's instructions..

The thought of eating fast food makes me sick.
fast food doesnt make me sick..i just dont care anymore....i am enjoying wearing smaller clothes and being more mobile and love having my hub having trouble keeping his hands off me that those little things help keep my mental attitude on straight..
-
Confused
well just ask the dr and or nurse and demand to know if you truly want to know i read my chart and asked my dr on my first 2 week post op..
-
2nd week post op, still in so much pain.
i you are in (intense) pain as you say, you def need to call and or go to the dr and tell them what you just wrote having this majority surgery will cause pain and it is uncomfortable..i was very sore for a couple weeks but at two weeks out, i was back at work and moving on.....you poor thing..feel better and tell your dr
-
Regret
are you regretting because your hungry and your sore? if so, please understand it will get better...pre and post op are tough, there is no doubt about it.....i dont know whom comes into this and think its a cake walk...i have read one or two who are fine but for the majority, its difficult..keep sipping and resting and move about as much as you can...this is and was a wonderful thing you had done, once you start feeling better, you will realize it also..congrats on your surgery
-
can't get all my protein and liquids in
you are still very swollen...so continue to get in as much as you can.sip and sip and sip some more..its vital to stay hydrated and the protein feeds your body so do as best you can..as the days past, the swelling goes down, its easier to drink and then eat....do the best you can
-
