good job on the workout! i feel the same way at times after a vigorous workout...patience...
  2. at my two week visit i asked my doc if there was anything in my band and he said about 1cc...i also rarely get hungry, and get full on small amounts but catch myself eating sometimes when i'm not hungry...no fill for me till 3-30...
  3. any word from the doc?
  4. congrats! hoping you feel better soon:)
  5. great post! i have been doing an internship with substance abuse addicts for the past 6 months and realized i had so much in common with them in my relationship with food. i was shocked and amazed. i am one of those bandies who has been shouting from the mountaintops about my wls and have found that most people do think it is an easy way out...although i am barely 3 weeks banded i am here to say that i have never worked so hard for something in my life!
  6. this is a great question...i wonder about this myself...the literature i was given pre-surgery said to eat 6 small meals to keep the metabolism going, but i am eating about two...yesterday was really hard for me and i ate under 600 calories...i hope some older bandsters will chime in...time is surely flying by!i can't believe its been almost 3 weeks...
  7. to be in the teens is my first goal!!! happy dancing for ya!!!
  8. i too am consumed with thoughts of my band, food portions, exercise and what ifs...i am also still at home! i am hoping that when i return to work it will get better, but i am also thinking about how the band will affect my life when i get back into the thick of things!
  9. I am diabetic and was banded on 2-15-12. i was not able to take my meds 1000mg of metformin and 5 mg of glipizide the day before surgery. after surgery my fasting sugar was 72...since then my sugars have always been in range between 84 and 118. i called my doc and she told me to completely discontinue the glipizide and take 500mg of metformin if my fasting sugar was 138 and above. she also told me to check my sugars more diligently as i was only checking sporadically pre-op. i am now testing about twice a day once fasting and once after a meal...they have continued to remain in range since surgery so i am no longer on meds at this point. good luck to you and follow the orders of your heath care professionals...i can't wait to see my new A1C:) diabetes is so tricky...
  10. my doc said 6 months post op:( bummer for me as i graduate next weekend!!
  11. congrats to you on your decision to take this journey. i was also approved by my insurance for this surgery which i successfully had performed on 2-15. it was a process and there were times when i felt lost as well, but it all pays off in the end. i had a to have a year of weight history from my primary care physician, a psyche eval, 3 months of nutrition and exercise testing with a pre and post fitness eval, and my husband who will be banded on 3-13 also had to have a sleep apnea test. i was an easy approval as i have diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea. my insurance company fully pays for all of my diabetes meds and supplies and sleep apnea equipment so i am sure they were glad to approve my surgery! good luck to you on your journey and please keep us posted.
  12. woohoo! no fair foods!! keep it up!
  13. welcome to the site! i'm sure you'll find lots of love here!!! my husband will be banded on that day as well:) just remember the band is a tool and i think you will be fine...i am by no means an expert as i was just banded two weeks ago, but i am determined to make this work...many of us are/were scared to have this procedure, but i think we are more scared of what will happen to us if we don't do something about our weight...a year ago i was one of those people that thought i would never go to such drastic measures to lose weight, but look at me now...good luck to you and keep us posted.
  14. congrats on taking a big step towards to a new healthy you:) i'm 2 weeks post-op and feel better already! good luck to you...keep us updated..
  15. omg! thank you for this:)
  16. Yay for you "D"! You'll be post op before you know it:)
  17. i have been waiting 14 days for today!! i have no idea why i was so excited to see my surgeon today...you would've thought i was getting a fill! my doc says that he likes to wait six weeks post-op before doing a fill so my first fill date is 3-30-12...seems like forever and a day away, but he is the doc...so 30 more days until my fill! so my doc says all is good and all looks well. he has given me permission to continue exercising as i feel comfortable and was ok with the one hour i've been doing on the treadmill most days for the past week. he lifted my five pound weight restriction and told me that i can now lift up to 25 pounds...so that weight set i bought pre-op can finally get some use. i went with a list of questions because after sitting around on this website for two weeks i found there were some important things that i needed to know...i found out where my port was! the place that's still tender on my belly...that's where it is! i actually thought it was somewhere else...hmmm, makes me wonder what the heck i was feeling...i found that i had a 10 cc band and that there was about 1 cc placed in my band at surgery. also there is a number on all of the lapbands, like a serial number, and if you go to the lapband website and send them your band number you can get a card to take to restaurants if you choose to eat out and they will honor you eating from the lunch menu or varying portion sizes...so i asked him about that that number and he gave it to me:) i also found out that it was ok to have sex (i know my hubby is glad)!!! i met with the dietician again today and my diet was upgraded to step 3...no more mushies!!! i was already kinda doing this anyway...but now i can have some soft meats ( i'll just continue with my broiled fish), fruits, veggies, and even starches..like crackers...i am going to stay away from those though...but guess what i don't have to eat? the two different diabetes medications that i was on pre-surgery!!! my numbers have been in check since 2-15-12!!!! i am ecstatic!!!! i still feel like i have no restriction at all and everything goes down pretty easily...i have been really paying attention to my body and trying to make note of real physical hunger and it is rare...i still have to try to eat six small meals a day though, which has been difficult...a huge area that i must improve ASAP is my fluid intake...i am barely getting 20fl oz down a day:( today i feel rejuvenated!!! i saw the scale move a bit today too, which is always a good thing as it had been stuck for about 3-4 days... i also got the chance to sit with hubby while he did all of his pre-op exams as he will be getting banded on 3-13-12!!!! and to put icing on the cake, i got more time off work!!! i know i'm probably being greedy but i need it:) mental health is just as important as physical health...
  18. zumba for wii! sounds like fun! i also have been fridge shopping and not feeling any hunger:( i really paid attention to my body yesterday and ate way less than i had in a few days...those old pesky habits...
  19. woohoo!

  21. see you on the other side! welome to bandland:)
  22. here are my stats! 241 before pre-op diet 232 after pre-op diet 233 day of surgery 225 now haven't lost any in a few days...i'm 2 weeks out...
  23. that rash sounds horrific:( my hubby has the same kind of thing when he had his gall bladder removed and he had major skin sloughing especially on his hands and feet...i have only lost 8 lbs since surgery and the scale has been stuck for several days now...i am still eating under 1000 calories and have even started working out...well what i call working out!! getting on the treadmill!!! any word on when you will get your first fill? one good thing is you are not experiencing any hunger because i am ...trying to not gain any weight...keep ya head up...things will fall into place:)
