Officially banded, this morning!!! Some pain not bad, manageable ... Gas pains are annoying but I've started with the gas x so hope it helps.... No nausea thank goodness ... Think I'm just gonna try to sleep, I'm more tired than anything

Yikes! Less than 24 hours! I report tomorrow at 7:30 am for surgery ! I'm as ready as I'll ever be, got all my Rx filled, my gas x strips, plenty of clear liquids for post op, gummy vitamins , comfy clothes and a good book... Good luck to sojourner, mrsbrown, Sophia , and Kim , on all of your surgeries tomorrow !!!!

hi february bandsters!!! just checking in! this group is so active i have a hard time following the threads...just wanted to say i am 5 days post-op and i am feeling great:) i am hoping all those already banded are finding peace in recovery and wishing all those soon to be banded well wishes!

Good luck to everyone going this week!! I am super nervous but as soon as I log into of February bandsters I feel over come with ease. I can't believed a new beginning is 3 days away. You all give me so much hope. This will be a hard journey for me because I come from a big Italian family who the majority should be banded. We are forever around food. I hope a can set a new example of Health for them all. I am ready to feel alive and not just be alive!! You are all wonderful and I am super happy I joined this forum. I might not write often but you all inspire me xoxo!! best of luck and well wishes to you all!! Here is to a new skinny , healthy and happier us

I'm sure you'll have lost even more weight by the time you have your surgery, just stick with it. Encourage your mom to stay on the diet. Apparently have the smaller liver is a huge benefit in surgery of this type. Good luck to both of you!

I start my preop diet tomorrow and will be on it for 7 dayS......and then on the 22nd I go for preop and start clear liquids!!!!! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! LOL!!! I honestly am so READY to start my new journey!!!!!!!!

My surgery date is Feb. 22 and I can't wait. However, I went to my pre-surgery nutrition class on Monday and it seemed like everyone there was getting either the sleeve or gastric bypass. They even put down on one of my papers that I was getting the sleeve by mistake( Ughh!). Also, the assistant from the office who was there going over what will happen on surgery day had her lap band revised to a sleeve so she was showing no love for the lap band. One of the other patients there asked me what surgery I was getting and when I told her I was getting the band she looked at me like I was from Mars!
I also had my pre-admission testing at the hospital on Tuesday and the anesthesiologist told me I should get the sleeve. Should she be saying this to me the week before surgery??? If I wanted to get the sleeve I would have chosen the sleeve? Why do people sometimes like to talk to you like you're making the wrong decision and you don't know what you're doing? I kindly told her I had done my research and felt that the lap band was right for me, thank you very much.
I was pretty upset after all this but I'm back to being excited about my surgery. It just gives me more incentive to prove them all wrong by being successful with the band.

Every 30 pounds I would buy myself a very nice workout outfit from LuLuLemon to keep me motivated at the gym but since I am now at goal my husband treated me with a tummy tuck! I had it yesterday and it was so worth it!

Hi everyone my lap band is scheduled for February 23 and I am super nervous. I just joined this forum looking for support. I figure the more the better. I am excited for a new beginning. I wish us all luck and look forward on taking this journey with you all!!!

I'm in Orange County and being banded on the 17th. I'm allowed to use the lo-carb Slim Fast - can find it at Amazon or at Sams Club. I decided to use the children's liquid tylenol, didn't know about ordering the adult med at amazon.
I am so excited about being banded, and the changes that will be coming. Keep me posted on how you're doing!

I just had an appointment with the surgeon on Friday! I barely made the FEB bandster club with Feb 29th date! My Grandma was born on this day so many years ago. (She is in Heaven now . She passed away 12 yrs ago) I will always remember by banding day every year as I think of it being my Grandma's Birthday also, although I will have to Celebrate it a day earlier or a day late except every four years when leap year rolls around! I wish everyone well with your surgeries. May we all be blessed with a great surgery and a great journey. It's great to have support on here!!
I do have to say I am so nervous now that I do have a date. It just makes it more real!! I don't have to start a low carb diet until Feb 15. Until then I will continue to follow my weight watchers plan. Some days, it's actually quite low carb, in itself, but not always. I do love my carbs, so I will have to do better on that during my 2 weeks pre op for sure. And after. I have been following my weight watchers plan the past few weeks and started losing a little weight with that. Because over Christmas, but mainly a bit after it, I started gaining some weight, so I have lost 9 so far. At my appt on Friday, I was still 1 lb. up from my first consult with the doc in September. They had no clue I had gained 9 lbs and lost it before they saw me again. It's scary how quick I can gain weight. That's why I know the band is definite must for me. I NEED that tool to keep me in check.

I am in San Diego, 4 years post-op, but can relate to being banded! :-)

Honestly? Because I like them. I'm not perfect. Habits are hard to break. It's a learning process, as I am sure you will find out.

I am 10 days past surgery and to say the least. I was really having a hard time recovering from the pain. This morning I am feeling pretty good. The stabbing pain is gone, my shoulder pain is gone. I was starting to wonder what I had done, but now I am getting ready to help a child hood friend Celebrate her Daughters Sweet 16 party, sitting by the pool drinking my Soup. lol

I'm five years post op and the worse scars are from my gall bladder surgery in September 2010, but the worse lap band scar is where the port is, and the surgeon puts the port where that the scar looks like a scar from having your appendix removed.
All and all the scars from the lap band surgery are barely noticable, my belly button scar from the gall bladder surgery on the other hand....smh

Maderma is great for scaring and i have 6 small cuts the larger is where my port is and i am almost 5 weeks post surgery but i do know the maderma works i have used it on other scars ...good luck to all of you that are newly banded!!! and welcome to the journey!!!

I was banded on the 6th and I have 5 incisions. My biggest worry was keloids and so far I seem to have avoided that. My doctor used dissolvable stiches and covered the incisions with surgical tape that stayed on for a little over a week. The biggest issue I have is that they are darker than my skin so right now I'm using skin whitener and some over the counter scar treatment cream on them. My sister also gave me some perscription stuff that she had but I haven't started using it yet.
