Well I'm the one who posted the picture, and it's not pea sized it's the size of my fingernail. Hence why I put the picture of my finger next to it.
As far as "I'd rather have self control than live like this"... I've lost almost 150 pounds in 9 months. I log every single thing I put in my mouth and count every single calorie. Believe me, I have plenty of self control. My weight loss results speak for themselves quite clearly as to my level of self control.
You can live however you like, however I like to be able to eat bread, rice, Pasta, and all the stuff so many say they can't eat anymore since then being banded. I can still eat all that, and everything else I enjoy, with the self control to take small bites and stay within bandster portions.

So I was reading a post the other day and someone showed a fork with a pea sized bit on it. I thought to myself. I will never eat a bite that small. To me that would be rediculous. I would rather have some sort of self control then live like that. That is not normal in my opinion. My question is. Do any of you feel the same way? Has anyone learned some sort of self control so you don't have your band tight as can be? I know for a fact I will never eat one pea at a time.

I , too, only told husband and 2 adult children. All sworn to secrecy. Personal decision and I didn't want to have to listen to horror stories. Also, I am not interested in hearing other peopl's opinions about my personal medical choices. If someone asks, I tell them I am eating less and getting lots of exercise, then I change the subject.

I do not blame you! I too have decided not to let anyone other than my husband know! This is a very personal decision and not a lot of people will understand what we are going through.

My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday, the 27th. The ONLY person who knows about it is my Husband. I have chosen not to tell any of my family and friends. I think my siblings would be receptive to it because my oldest brother was banded 3 years ago this month. He has lost over 100 lbs and is keeping it off. He looks fantastic and feels even better than he looks.
Our Mom died 2 days post op with DVT (deep vain thrombosis) after having Gastric Bypass. This was in May of 2001. We know it wasn't the GB that caused the loss of our Mom. She could have gotten a clot at home. Any of us can! Certainly the surgery increased the risk. But we are all at peace with our Mother's passing.
This isn't why I've chosen to keep my surgery a secret. I've made this choice because I don't want ANYONE to judge me. Maybe I'll open up later. Till then, I have LBT!

I don't know if I'm a veteran, I was banded in January 2012, but yes I'd definitely do it again in a heartbeat.

Ok so I had a fill last week on Monday. By Thursday I got so stuck at dinner that I was in horrible pain all night. I couldn't get anything down Friday thru Monday, not even Water. Went for a slight unfill on Monday morning and was able to drink a cup of water at the doctors office. By Monday evening, I can seem to eat anything without horrible sliming. I had to suffer Thru Tuesday only managing to take in 400 calories. Today,Wednesday, I'm finally able to get another unfill of .40 and hallelujah! I can eat! I get completely full with one cup of food! I'm writing this because in the beginning I wanted to be real tight so that I would lose weight faster. Let me tell you, it's not worth it!!!!!!!!! Being in the green zone and feeling good far outweighs a quick weight loss. To be able to enjoy a small amount of food without throwing up is what this band is all about. So PLEASE!!!! don't think being super tight is the way to go. It's horrible and can only be tolerated for a very short time. Finding the sweet spot is worth multiple trips to the doctor for fills and unfills. Don't be afraid to speak up! I can finally love love LOVE my band!!! :-D

My weight loss is very slow. Banded on 2/2/12 and only down 24lbs. I had my 8th fill today and I hope this puts me in the green zone. I really wanted to be 40-50 lbs down by now. So hang in there and I will try to do the same.

I go back next week also for a fill. I'm hoping this will put me in the green zone too. Its solo frustrating. Especially when see how much weight other people have lost in a short period of time. Praying we all hit the green zone and the weight starts falling off.

I read this article and my sister works for Allergan and I have had the priveledge to read other lab studies from Allergan that my sister was allowed to check out for me. What this article didn't say is that a good percentage of the people who chose or had to remove lapband would have prematurely died because of their obesity. So I look at you take a chance and live 12 extra years with the Band.
None of the diets out there are guaranteed to work so why not try the Band.

I was banded 2.2.12. I was off for 3 days. I did not and have still not told them about my WLS. I told them I need to be off to for personal reasons. Your right, "Its not any of their business". Don't tell anyone who you think might stand in your way.

I have 3 in a 10cc band...and I'm definately NOT in the "green zone".......now where did those Cookies go? --jk

I freaked out too when my hair started coming out. It still is, but I am better now at taking my Vitamins and getting more Protein. Don't quit. You want so bad to loss the weight just Iike I do. I paid out of pocket for this band and I am determined I am going to be thin. take your vitamins, eat your protein, and please try to decrease your stress. Don't quit..

I cant stop laughing! I told my husband the same thing, he looked at me sideways.lol

I only have 4cc in a 10 cc bandand sometimes I wonder if I really even have a band.....maybe he just pretended to put it in to collect the insurance money....jk of course......It just takes time. but we will get there.
