Okay, I am really pleased about my experience as you will tell from my comments.
I felt very prepared for the surgery. I was given only two weeks notice of the surgery because I filled the spot of someone else, but I was ready. My biggest surprise was how quickly I recovered from the surgery.
I didn't find the pre-op diet to be onerous. Considering the changes expected as a result of the surgery, it is a small price to pay. The post-op diet was a little harder, maybe because I just wanted to get on with my new life.
On the pre- and post-op diets, I had trouble getting the Protein in, but I did do it. Once on a regular diet, I had trouble getting the fluids in, but I made myself do it because there was no way I was going to have to get an IV.

Came home with liquid lortab, but could not keep it down. Yesterday picked up a new rx liquid roxicet and it is much easier to handle. Its more concentrated so you don't have to swallow as much either. Also picked up rx Zofran a sublingual anti-nausea drug to take a few minutes before ingesting the pain med. Has made a big difference for me.
Seems like I have been having more post-op pain than others here are reporting, I'm 6 days out and still hurts to move much. Doctor says everything's ok though, just slow progression. Definitely talk to your doctor about the post-op home med options because doing it after the fact was really frustrating. Wishing you all the best!

I've been in a stall and am still at my 48 pounds of weight lost. On the other hand, 48 pounds is a victory in itself! The kicker is that I upped my exercise routine this week because of the doctor's clearance. I know the stall will end and the weight loss will begin again. I refuse to be discouraged.

Those are good points. Spreading it out throughout the day ought to work.

I had edema and used Water pills, but the surgeon took me off them the day of surgery and said I didn't need them any more. I was sleeved April 23rd and have had no swelling at all since then.

I'm getting all my Protein from food, no Protein powder. My biggest snack food is Fage Greek yogurt. It has 23 grams of Protein per cup and counts as Fluid, too. It tastes like a rich sour cream.

My caloric intake is the same or less than yours. My nutritionist has said to keep it below 800 and specifically said my intake is fine.

I went to Weight Watchers for my pre-op diet, but did not tell them I was having the surgery. Just didn't want to get into it with them. I planned to continue after surgery for the support of being around other people wanting to lose weight, but was chastised for losing too much weight too fast and once again thought the surgery was none of their business. It would be hard to use the Weight Watcher's diet and also get the Protein we need without eating all the time. If you just want weight loss support and are willing to tell the staff or all those in your Weight Watcher's group about your situation, go for it.

Fage Greek yogurt counts as a liquid and has 23 Protein grams per cup. It can be mixed with no sugar added fruit juice. I don't eat a cup at a time, but spread it out over the day.

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't checked in......those first 3 shifts back to work kicked my butt and I spent a couple days sleeping on and off to recoup only to have to pull another 3 shifts (1 more then I have a couple days off). Work has been going good though and I feel pretty good so no complaints on that.
I am only having one Protein Shake a day (28 grams of protein) and trying to get the rest from my food that my NUT suggested, but it sure can't amount to much when I'm only able to eat about 2 Tablespoons per meal. My energy level was really low and she told me to do 1/2 Protein, 1/2 carb at my meals, so I have been doing Smoked Salmon in the pouch with mashed potato or canned peaches or pears. chicken salad goes down wonderfully and I did try the ricotta bake also, but it made way to much...will have to work on that cooking tiny amounts thing!
Some of my friends at work have been bringing me things too....slow cooker pot roast (they will bring me a bit of the potato, carrots and sauce with a tiny piece of meat)....they think they're being funny with the amount they bring me, but it's perfect and it turns out to be a couple meals!
One friend made me some Sugar Free Chocolate mousse that was wonderful.
I'm so glad to hear that everyone is healthy and doing well.....gonna get some sleep, talk to you soon

I am 62 and had my surgery April 23rd. I have had a good recovery and am very glad I had the surgery. The pre-op diet is bothersome, not difficult, and it is for only a short period of time. The in-hospital recovery from surgery was not too bad. I was in the hospital three days and the first two had their moments, but since then I have been fine. It was not at all as bad as I had imagined. Once I got home, I recovered very rapidly. The uncomfortable stuff is short term, the improvement in health is long term.
Before the surgery, I had trepidations until I reminded myself why I was having it. In my case, I was borderline diabetic and was worried about that and the other health consequences of living as an obese person. Once I got that straight in my mind, my fears were gone.
The people here will help you as you go through this.

In the 70s, and clear in Virginia Beach.
My nutritionist says I should be off all Protein supplements by six months. I am already off them. Just can't take the taste and texture. I am going to make Protein powder ice cream on Thursday or Friday though.

I was sleeved last week. I plan to answer that query with "a lot." My weight is no one's business just as the fact that I had bariatric surgery. When people ask how I lost my weight, I plan to answer, "diet and exercise." In each case, I am telling the truth, but preserving my privacy.

I am doing well. I got over my panic stage a week ago and now I am ready: post-op food in the pantry, supplements on hand, pain prescriptions filled. Met with the doctor yesterday for pre-op exam and I am at 249, 20 lbs lighter than when I started.
Having read the descriptions of others' experiences, I am assuming my surgery will be a breeze with no pain or nausea afterwards. HAHA
    Let's get this thing done!
