So I have a surgery date set for August 1st, 2012. I am worried about how difficult it will be to obtain insurance after my surgery. I will be getting my own insurance in about 3 years. Anyone experience a rough time?

Good question. My insurance has a WLS exclusion and won't ever cover anything related to it. So if I need my gallbladder out later, they won't pay. But, I haven't told my PCP yet, so it not in my record yet. I'm thinking about never saying anything...

If you plan to get it through an employer, you are automatically eligible. And I believe if you are in the US, the Affordable Care Act will be doing away with "pre-existing" somewhere in the future as well.

That part of the Affordable Care Act kicks in 2014. If the Supreme Court comes through, you will be golden.
