As I said, I don't know whether the sleeve can accommodate that type of diet. To set the record straight, however, my nutritionist is a vegan. I agree with chubbyperthchic I will be incorporating some of those recipes into my repertoire.

Perfect. You are spot on. I was thin and brilliant for 40 years until I became obese and not worth paying attention to.

When I do my laundry I use a washing machine and a dryer. I don't cart my family's dirty laundry down to the river, beat it against rocks and then spread it over bushes to dry. Yep, I am guilty of doing things the easy way.
    I microwave.
    I use a freezer.
    I pay my bills online.
    I drive to work.
I buy soap instead of making my own out of ash and lard.
The easy way is the way of mankind. So what if we have had surgery? Does it make my weight loss easier? Yes it does. Does it diminish me in any way? No it does not. I take advantage of opportunities to improve my life, and that is what living is all about. This surgery was a massive opportunity to improve my life and I remain very grateful that I had the resources and support to take full advantage of this opportunity.

Thank you all so much! It means the world to me that you are willing to share your stories with me. I identify with just about everything. I know I need help. I've been tying to loose weight for years, only to gain it back and then some. High blood pressure, type II diabetes, hashimotos disease....... Keep me swimming upstream in this fight. I've had two breast reductions, a lump removed from under my arm and a few other minor surgeries. And I was a Marine, so you think I'd be unafraid of a little pain! All prayers welcome! I know I need to do this and make the best of it.

SCgravybits--"I bought the Nector, fuzzy navel and the crystal sky" put these in Jello, the flavor of the jello going with the flavor of the Protein. I bought Jay Robb's pina colada Protein Powder and it was delicious in orange and lime jello.

Obviously you are going to make your own decision which is as it should be.
For me, the advantage of the sleeve over other methods of losing weight is that I am not hungry. That makes all the difference in the world. I knew before that the best flavor of anything is in the first several bites. Now I get to practice that. Sometimes out at a restaurant or for a special meal at home I think, "If only I could eat more of that." and I know I would if I hadn't had the sleeve. Then I realize that I am way better off with the sleeve because I would be digging into all of those meals and sabotaging any diet and exercise plan I was on.
Let's face it. We have all been on many diets and tried various combinations of diet and exercise. Have we ever stuck to them? No. This was my best chance to take off the weight and regain my health and quality of life and maybe even save my life.
I had no difficulty recovering from the surgery and it is nowhere near as difficult as childbirth.

My nutritionist said to get Protein drinks/powders that have most of their protein from whey. She also said to avoid the drinks Scaredoftheunknown identified. In addition, she really pushed plain yogurt, the kind without the fruit in it, and said it doubles as a Fluid. I have taken a fierce liking to Fage 2% plain yogurt which has 23 grams of protein per cup. The Fage tastes like sour cream, so some do not like it.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Posting the information about your weight on Facebook is asking for inquiries. It doesn't go along with your desire to have only a select few know about the surgery.
Your father is definitely wrong, but there is nothing to be done about it now.

I'm cracking up! When I first started the process I shared my diet and everything with my mom. Later I thought, "Great, the whole family is going to know, I should have told her not to tell anyone." the next day I told her that it's very personal to please not tell anyone- I could tell by her expression that it was too late! For the love of God! anyway, she's all everyone loves you snd is worried about you, etc. I was annoyed but what can you do. Anyway, when I tried to post my "story " the 1st time here on the VSG forum, I posted it on Facebook by mistake!! LOL Now family, friends and co-workers all know!! If anyone says this is the "easy" way out... I'll tell them I've suffered enough in my life Losing then regaining weight- this is, finally, a permanent solution to a life-long problem and sorry if you're jealous!

Thanks so much to everyone. Seriously, they are all great answers. Well, I went ahead and told get the partial truth last night, and something just don't feel right. It's been bothering me all night and today. =/ I never wanted to be this "spokesperson" or peoples deciding factor for thier weight loss problems (or solutions), I do feel good about when people ask me for advice I can steer then in the direction of high Protein, low to no carb, but to call my Dad a liar when in fact he was happy for me and told the truth; I feel wrong for. Soooo with all that being said, I'm just going to write my story/journey and post it. If it helps someone, great; if someone thinks differently of me, welp, not my problem. =) At least i'm free, by sharing the truth.
    Love you all.

sleevedude and I made a great point. I know you were excited about your weight loss and it sounds as though your dad was, too. Okay, he shouldn't have told about it if you asked him not to but you also stepped over that line by bragging about the weight loss on Facebook of all things and then not expecting someone to mention weight loss surgery..
If a person wants discretion, they have to practice it.

My question is: if you don't want questions about how you lost weight, why are you posting about losing weight on Facebook?
It is your choice on how to respond, but at that point you basically just invited everyone and anyone to not only congratulate, but also to ask how.

This is a blow and I understand your disappointment. Take a minute to let it get to you...... Now that the minute is up, make your plans for losing the 20 pounds. Before my surgery, I joined Weight Watchers and lost more than 20 pounds in a few months. You can stay on the liquid diet. Weight can be lost any number of ways, it's the keeping it off that is tough and you won't have to go through the agony of trying to keep it off once you've had the surgery.
So get up and keep going for the golden ring. You made your decision; now you have to make it happen.
Please keep us updated on your progress.

    You're not being selfish.
When I woke up from surgery, they whisked me right into my hospital room. There was really no time spent in Recovery. I don't know what other's experience was, though. If he can't be there and you are frightened, could you call and talk to him from your hospital room?

Keep reminding yourself why you need the surgery: health, quality of life and even life itself. At this point, having tried diet after diet only to be unsuccessful, there are no other options.
I can not believe people at work call you those things. What kind of people are these and what kind of work environment do you have? I suggest that once you are through the surgery and accustomed to all of the changes look for another job.
