  3. Oh heck no! If I could do 7 weeks of clear liquids, I wouldnt need the surgery anymore! I had 5 days of pre op clear but post op im on full liquids and yogurt. 6 weeks is an awful long time, especially compared to Toddys 2 days, but full liquids are amazing after starving on clear! Im having no hunger problems whatsoever and wouldnt start mushies or solids any time soon if given the option, to be honest. Im only 4 days post op though so I guess we'll see how fond of liquids I am a few weeks out..
  4. I am so jealous! Im on a six week liquid-only diet! doctors sure do vary....
  5. hi, we were banded on the same day! Im also on full liquids and my dr didn't give me a set limit either. Im just taking it slow, started with 3 ounce portions, now taking in just a couple ounces more. Do what you can to get enough protein in, but just gauge how you feel every few sips and stop before you feel full or particularly bloated. My dr prob wouldnt approve of cream of wheat..sounds delicious..so ive been throwing yogurt, milk, protein powder and carnation instant breakfast in a blender with ice. Its pretty tasty.
  6. I know its expected, just wondering how long it took for you guys to feel yourselves again! Days, weeks?
  7. Ive finally been banded! Im 2 days out now and have a ton of pain at my port incision, just wondering how long it took for you to feel like yourselves again? I feel bloated and gross, cant take deep breaths without pain and had the hardest time sleeping last night. I know it takes time but would appreciate your input. Also, there is some blood thats stained my port dressing that wasn't there at all the day after surgery. This isnt any thing to be worried about, right? Thanks!
  8. Hi again. Day 2 of 5 day clear liquid diet is coming to a close and I have a horrible sore throat and unrelenting cough. Slept horribly last night because of it. Wondering what your thoughts are about cough syrup at this point? Its kinda clear.... :/ Spose it'd be okay or should I just stick it out? Hoping I get better before thursday and this lack of sleep and nutrition aint doing a body good.... Cheers, Mary
  9. Its so easy! Just swallow some bloat -inducing crystals then a few sips of chaulky barium, they take some pics and you're done! I was in the room for 5 mins!
  10. Unfortunately, I havent met my surgeon and wont until surgery day. Due to scheduling conflicts, ive only met with colleagues of his. Thank you for your answers! Mary.
  11. Today was the first day of my 5 day clear liquid diet... Im hungry, sick, and have some mean hiccups. Didnt work today and have been stuck in the apt with my two year old, with very little to distract me...cooking and serving dinner for him was the hardest. Id never thought I'd say it but im very glad to be going to work tomorrow, I dont think ill struggle as much there. Just some random questions as I think of them... How miserable must it be to get a stomach flu after being banded? I had one twice this past year and vomiting is the most violent thing ever, the contraction of my stomach doubles me over so badly that its hard to stay as high as a toliet bowl sometimes...and it almost always comes out of my nose also. (sorry). If you vomit post operatively from a non-band issue, how does that work? Everything from below the band comes up through the stoma as the stomach contracts? Or just whats in the pouch? The thought of throwing up with a band really worries me... Does everyone get a catheter for surgery? My surgeons asst seems a bit of a bimbo and didnt have an answer for me. Also, how many of you had to give yourselves injections post op for blood clots? Is that common? Is
  12. Hi, my surgery is also 1/26! Im so jealous that you get to drink shakes and eat veggies.. strictly clear liquids for me. 5 more days to go! Mary
  13. When is your surgery? I just signed the papers yesterday myself and felt very panicked! I keep going back & forth with the decision and am sure I will continue until the moment theyre putting me under. Im confident we'll find the strength in the end...cant wait to look awesome! Mary
  14. Here in IL, wls surgery is also covered thru medicaid. Thank god!
  15. Thats great news! I hope to recover similiarly! What kind of things are you eating??
  16. Hi there, I just talked to my doctors office and my date has been set -- jan 25th! O I'm terrified!!! I could barely breathe or slow my heart at my physical last week...i hadnt had one in 12 years and doctors offices make me panic....how am I going to get through this?? Im a single mom of a 2 year old with no support through this journey. My son will be staying with his dad for 2 days post op and Ill only be taking 4 days off from work, where im on probation and cant be late or leave early in the weeks following surgery or ill be terminated. Im feeling overwhelmed. I hope im making the right choice. Ive read through all the surgery day stories but would love to hear about surgery and recovery from anyone who hasnt posted yet! Also, recommendations for good tasting Protein is welcome, I dont know where to start. Thanks! Mary
