The Thought Of Soup Makes Me Sick
I was on a liquid diet for 7 weeks post op! I never ever want to have soup again! I found a black bean soup that saved my life (Pacific brand, in organics) and ate a ton of fudgsicles. You'll make it through, hang in there!

Skin In Your 20's
Its got a lot to do with genetics and how long youve been overweight, too. Im only 40 lbs down but I really think ill have a problem with excess skin when Ive lost more. Ive heard moisturizing often is a good idea for increased elasticity...not sure how much it can really help but ill keep up with my lotion anyway

Chicago Girl With 6/8 As My
Hey Tiffany, Im in Chicago, too. Good luck with the diet...two weeks is a long time pre op especially when you hear about people who have no special diet at all beforehand! Keep your eye on the prize & hang in there, your liver will shrink nicely and you can get a jump start on the weight loss .

Confused About Drinking Clear Liquids, Full Liquids, And Water?
The point of avoiding drinking during or around meals is to help the food sit on top of the band where its supposed to for a while. Theres no reason not to drink around 'meals' when on liquids, but getting into the habit now can't hurt anything either.

Ok, So Yeah...
My PA just gave me a hard time about this...saying im not enabling the band to do what its supposed to. The shake keeps me satisfied just fine until lunch, I dont WANT anything else, so wheres the harm? Weird how that works. Ill keep drinking my calories & protein if they keep me full..

MY FIRST FILL WAS A NIGHTMARE
I feel you! I kepr hearing how fills were no big deal...and I lost it at mine, anyway! Hospitals, doctors, needles...they all give me some really bad anxiety, its so embarrassing! I started crying, my stomach muscles started spazzing, then I blacked out. Whew. At my followup a week later, my PA read my file and handed me a script for xanax. LOL. I dont want to scare anyone about fills... it wasnt that it was particularly painful, I just cant control my nerves in medical settings! So anyway, sorry your doc is such a stickler about the lidocaine...give some numbing cream or xanax a try!

Concern About Future Fills!
I dont know anything about fill costs but traveling to mexico must be kinda pricey, too. Maybe you could explore options to see if you find someone you feel comfortable with...id feel better having familiarity with a bariatric practice nearby anyway, in case of an emergency or something like a much needed unfill. Im going thru insurance so I cant entirely empathize but I hope everything goes well with your surgery and that restriction comes easily for you!

Concern About Future Fills!
Flouro (fluoroscopy) only refers to the real time moving images that are taken during the fill, it still involves needles & saline. Just less guessing!

Concern About Future Fills!
I dont know if having a fill under flouro really guarantees much, everyone is different and we each hsve our trials & errors. Any chance of finding a local dr for your fills after the first?

Fill Yesterday And Starving Today!
Lellow, I saw a few weeks ago that you posted about some possible complications --a leak? What came of that, are you doing okay?
-
First Fill?
Also, some drs put some fluid in during surgery which might also affect your later fill amounts.

First Fill?
I think it really varies -- there are different fill amts and different band sizes. They gave me 3 cc in a 10 cc band for my first fill. Its a good queston for your doc. Good luck thurs!

Forgot!!!
Its really hard reevaluating something so essential as eating...weve been doing it out of pleasure, habit, and necessity all our lives. I was on a liquid diet for a grand total of 7 weeks and EVERY single day I forgot that I was. food didn't make it to my mouth as in your case but when my son asked for his pretzels, I would grab them and have to freeze, for the shortest of seconds, to recall something I was supposed to remember. Oh, thats right -- dont eat these. When my supervisor would tell me I was on lunch, my stomach would tense for the teeniest of moments with confusion about my lack of lunch destination and excitement about eating.. Oh.... right, broth. I'd pass a diner nearby and think to myself that its been a while since my son and I had a little dinner date outing, maybe tomorrow we'll...wait, no we wont. A coworker would offer a piece of chocolate and my hand would be halfway there -- um, no...but thanks for offering. needless to say, I was very hungry very constantly and I just had to stop multiple times every day and bring to the front of my mind that little nagging feeling in the back --what am I forgetting right now? Oh.. Its really really hard. It goes against our instincts and, in particular, our habits. We're overweight in many cases because we NEVER stop to think about eating before we do it. You're not alone! Im sure no harm was done by the chips. But let your new food choices and, ultimately, new life style be a little buzz in the back of your mind. Itll become second nature one day if you're successful but for now imagine a little jiminy cricket on your shoulder always reminding you...both that you're on a liquid diet now, and to make good food choices/chew well, once you're eating again. You can do it!

Need Some Input-Banded 11 Months Ago And Am Only Down 25 Lbs
Omg its possible to get sick of chicken?? Mmm.. Slider foods are foods that slide thru the band instead of sitting on top if it, generally defeating its purpose. These are often unhealthy and unfortunately a lot easier to eat sometimes. :/

New To This And To Process
Ugh I hate this phone.

New To This And To Process
At my info session, they talked a bit, did Q&As, then scheduled everyone still interested to meet with one of the two surgeons. My appt was about 3 weeks later. I guess every insurance is different but I think that a lot of people are banded not because they cant lose weight but because they cant keep it off. its something to ask your surgeon about. You wouldn't be the first person who doesn't follow the diet as strictly as they should because of that fear.

72 Hours Post-Op... Over Did It!
Soup tastes sooo amazing after being on clears!! I dont blame you! Over near the kids plastic plates etc at target, I picked up a 2 pack of tiny bowls for under bucks...i fill these about halfway and its perfect! At ikea I found some that I imagine are for salsa or something, too. Just using smaller scale items like this really helps me a lot. If I looked at this amount of soup in a big bowl that used to be brimming with cereal, I think id get awfully sad!
