  1. I'm at the same place. Almost five months out and my weight loss has slowed to a sluggish crawl. It swings back and forth two or three pounds and finally nudged down a pound this morning. But it's crazy slow for how much food I'm NOT eating.

I also hit the temporary hair loss thing at four months, and from what I've been reading, your body just kind of shuts down a bit at this time.

Patience isn't my best virtue, but I'm working on it. I know by exercising and only eating healthy things, I'll get there eventually.

But it always seems to help if I can commiserate with other folks, so thanks for the shoulder.

  2. I don't know about the hot beverages, because even in the hospital I was drinking hot broths and teas. Just sip slowly and that should help.

Hopefully, you'll have some protein shakes soon and those taste wonderful when you get to take the next step. My doc had my eating "mushies" at two weeks (cottage cheese and scrambled eggs, etc.) and that tasted like heaven.

The liquid stage seemed like it took FOREVER to get through, but now is just a distant memory.

Hang in there -- you'll get past it soon!!

  3. I had mine Dec. 27, and I don't feel like I'm any different except that I'm rarely hungry, can't eat much and I'm already visibly thinner. The first two weeks of liquid diet goes about as fast as being pregnant, if you've experienced that. And that would be the last month! I'm in my second week of soft food and a deviled egg is just sublime. I have no complaints!

  4. Hey there Brene ...

I faced all those things you faced and I'm so darn glad I gutted it up and came out on the other side (Dec. 27 surgery). I had so many of your doubts and had friends and family working to derail me, including my husband. But I also realized that many of those people also sabotaged my previous weight loss efforts. At some point, you have to take charge of your own health and give everyone else the heave ho, so to speak.

See you on the other side!!!

I started a blog to chronicle my journey and you're welcome to visit: Takin' a Load Off.
