I was sleeved by Dr. Kelly 6 months ago and couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. I would do it 100,000 times over. And no, he did not use a drain.
I actually like the fact that I DIDN'T have to deal with a coordinator. I just wanted the surgery, so dealing with the surgeon directly was more convenient for me.

    Hi
Me,the person that always thought long stalls must be caused by cheating, have been basically stalled for almost 6 weeks (maybe 2 pounds in 6 weeks).
I have been on liquids for 2 days now (torture!) and my weight is still the same!
So now I have figured.I can stall while enjoying my food or while starving, what do I choose? No brainer, tomorrow I am eating!
    Good luck!

....sexy purple panties!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!! I'm starting to feel "normal" again!!! I feel like I'm coming back to me.
Speaking of which...my poor husband has to take extra Vitamins and keep up on his fluids and electrolytes. I'm flat wearing him out. My sex drive has gone into super-hyper-speed-freaky-can't-get-enough mode.
So ladies.....if your libido is in the ditch....just wait.....just wait. (Oh, and exercise. A LOT).
Thank you sleeve. Thank you Dr. Kim. And Thank you God!!!

Today, 11 months, 2 days post surgery, I am at my personal goal. I am so happy I am tearing up and shaking a little bit. Lol! This is a weight I thought I would never see again. I seriously thought that I would have to live the rest of my life 200+ lbs and tried my hardest to be comfortable, "happy", and social at that weight. I don't have to live my life that way...and neither do YOU!
Yea...I could probably lose more, but I am HAPPY right here, right now! I am still curvy (still have hips, a nice lil bootay, and DD boobies) and I don't want to lose any of that. I'll probably be one of those women who used to annoy me by saying "I need to lose 5-10lbs". I promise as a former plus sized woman to never say that in the presence of another plus sized woman.
To the people considering this surgery: DO IT! Absolutely do your research and continue to browse this and other sites, but make a decision. You can't get yesterday back, so don't sit on the fence too long.
To the Newbies: Be kind and patient with yourself. You can do this. You can get to your goal. Believe in you and your relationship with God. Stalls will happen, food mourning will happen, hair loss of some type will happen, but you will get through it all. Just keep breathing. And keep asking questions.
To the Sleeve Masters: I have been stalking your profiles and lurking on your posts for over a year now. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your contribution to the site. I think of this community as an additional wl tool that I need to get me through the day. I won't go into detail about some of the things you guys helped me get through, but I want you all to know that I appreciate it immensely!
Thanks everyone for listening to my whining, venting, rambling, sarcasm, and typos - there will definitely be more of that to come. Off I go to maintenance. Wish me luck!

SexySlim got a reaction from Tabassom in Please Help Me With My Hair Lost
My hair started falling out heavily after about 4 months. I got worried and started taking Biotin. I only took it for a few weeks because I noticed my other hair (underarm, leg, down below) was growing back super fast and I hated it! I stopped taking the Biotin, and am just now starting to notice that my Hair loss is not as severe anymore. I'm not sure if I can credit the Biotin or not because 1) I only took it for maybe 2 weeks and 2) I heard after 6 months the hair loss starts to slow down or stop and on the 28th I will be at my 6 months. I also heard that it can't be avoided, so that's another reason why I stopped taking the Biotin.

Fellow Amazon checking in I'm 5'11" but am always wearing heels My start weight was 288 lbs and I was busting out of size 20W. My top half is smaller than my bottom half, always has been and probably always will be. I'm fine with that. I'm in a crazy stall so I'm bouncing between 236 and 234. I just went on a shopping trip this weekend to get some work clothes. I bought all L tops and they all fit. I bought a "goal dress" from H&M size 14 and it actuall fit! It was a little snug around my hips. Then I bought a size 18 pencil skirt to wear now and it didn't zip. Weird! I bought 3 dresses all size L. They fit but are kinda snug around the hips so they look extra short. I don't remember ever weighing under 200 lbs so I set my goal to 190. I just want to be a size 14. I guess my current size is a 16W. I'm not sure. My 20W work slacks fall off me and I have to wear a belt with them. My 18W slacks are very very baggy but don't require a belt.

Remind me to never ask a question LT you are right all the op did was ask a question once again things turned nasty on the vsg board, it is getting old. I know that when I am ready I will eat in moderation but I will not post it on here. I was always a normal weight and then my throid stopped working and I gained weight and then developed insulian resistance but but it was not because I could not control what I ate and I do not want to deprive myself for the rest of my life, we all know what is good for us and what is not. When someone asks a question why does everything become an argument and the original question does not even get answerrd

Two more points and then I'll stop beating this dead horse...
    1) OP asked when, not if. If you haven't had one, simply move on and don't answer. Don't reply by saying you'd never do it. That's not what the OP asked.
    2) For those of you who did reply that you'd never eat something that bad for you now that you've been sleeved, think about your pre-sleeve self. Unless you lived under a rock and had no idea what healthy eating looked like, you knew what you should be eating to lose weight. Now imagine if a thin health nut went up to overweight you and said "if you want to lose weight you should eat healthy and exercise like I do!" How insulted would you be? I would guess pretty insulted, probably upset and somewhat angry.
Well, you're pretty much doing the same thing to the in moderation people. Some people do come here for advice and in that case, then go for it. But not everyone is looking for that, and in this thread, that's not how the OP phrased her question.

It's a bit disingenuous to suggest the moderation people will fail. Both will learn new ways of eating - the moderation people will learn how to eat the things they like without going overboard and falling into old habits, the strict adherents to a healthy diet will change their entire lifestyle. To each their own - some people are marathon runners, some people are sprinters, and some people like a nice, leisurely jog, but they're all runners.
My issue was quantity and choice. Right now, for example, I'm at a late lunch/early dinner at my favorite BBQ place. Pre-VSG, I'd have the pulled pork & brisket combo platter with fried rice, Mac & cheese and a piece of cornbread. I'd pretty much clean my plate. Today I ordered chicken (nice and moist), took off the skin, put the cornbread aside, and had a small bite of Mac & cheese. No rice. To some people, that bite of m&c would be heresy! But to me, I know where I'm coming from and see the change in my eating habits. I know I'm never going to be that strict, healthy eater, so I know for me, the best thing to do is learn to eat like a better me. I also know that after doing a strict healthy diet, I would fall off the wagon big time and probably make myself sick.
Again, to each their own. What's good for one person isn't necessarily the best thing for everyone and to suggest that one way is right or better than another isn't really helpful to anyone.

I agree to a certain extent with LT. I had the surgery to become healthy, and to be at a more ideal body weight. I did not have the surgery so that I could live on Protein Shakes, chicken and fish. weight loss surgery is a tool, not a diet. as my surgeon says.." in moderation, everything is okay hey bite of something you really have been craving is not going to kill you, just don't get into your old habits." For right now I cannot trust myself not to get into my old habits, so I don't eat things like that. I will however someday have hey milkshake maybe some mac and cheese hell maybe even a Kit Kat bar.... just not anytime soon. not because it's not on the plan, but because I don't trust myself.

Nah, I'm with LT on this. If I could have just said no, I am never eating certain foods again, then I wouldn't have needed this surgery. I could have and should have been able to do it on willpower if that were the case. I am a foodie, I thoroughly enjoy food. I did so to an excess. I got the sleeve so I can continue to enjoy the foods I like, but in moderation. I have not and will not give up anything, sorry. The majority of the time, I try to make healthy choices, but if I want something, I eat it. My sleeve prevents me from overdoing it like I did in the past and I love it.
So, yeah, I am one of those everything in moderation kind of gals.

I have done the Daniel fast before (pre-op). I know Beans are allowed, those have Protein. Also nuts. I think brown rice has protein too. I think you will be fine because 1) it's not for a long amount of time to worry about muscle loss and 2) you will be eating healthy nutritious food all while growing closer to God. That's worth it to me.

I didn't to lose my first (current) 50 lbs. But now that I have been stalled for 7 weeks I might need to. Grant it, I already eat pretty healthy, but I work out a lot and I would just stick to 3 meals/day, no Snacks, 9 cups of Water, and make sure all of my meals had Protein. Not really sure what "diet' I want to try. The whole reason I wanted this surgery is so that I would never have to diet again.

I agree - it is definitely a proven scientific method and you do have to research the real deal to fully understand it all as Sexy Slim said. Basically it is a fail proof way to lose weight IF you take the true HCG hormone and abide by the strict dietary plan. And actually exercise is NOT encouraged while you are on the VLCD (very low calorie diet) phase. But, there are 4 phases you move through in how ever many rounds you chose to do and the other phases introduce back in more foods and higher calories.
Anyway, I totally believe in the plan and from my own experience lost and was almost to my goal weight for the first time in 17 yrs (and many, many other diets), I felt great, I was healthy by my blood work, etc. Just did not have the will power to keep it off.....hence the SLEEVE!!

I always thought I was a pear, maybe a spoon? idk I'm 5'11" I set my own goal weight of 190, but honestly I don't remember ever being under 200 lbs and I've always been at least a size 16 since high school. I have a defined waist and large hips and thighs. My upper body is pretty normal looking. I can wear L tops now, from XL. I know I will still have hips when I get to goal, and I want to keep them (so does my boyfriend lol).

SexySlim reacted to PdxMan in Reaching Your Goal Weight...what Happens After That?
This is an interesting question, for sure. What does it mean ... to reach goal?
I started at around 300 pounds and my goal was 200 (or whatever amount it takes to loose my moobs). I thought that was kind of pie-in-the-sky, but why not? Well, I started exercising a lot and was pretty anal about following the sleeve rules and hit 200 after about 5 months. I still had some belly fat, so I reset my goal to 190. That number came and went after a few more months (moobs gone, btw). So, I wondered, too, what was going to be my final weight? I eat whatever I feel like, but know that I eat pretty well. I am not a saint ... I had a bowl of Reese's PB ice cream tonight (1/2 cup).
So, what is life like? I eat whatever I want. I don't worry about my weight at all. I did weigh myself the other day and I clocked in at 175. I figure my body will find the weight it is supposed to be. I don't count my calories or my carbs. I didn't get sleeved to be a slave to a diet. Just the opposite, actually.
So, my suggestion is to not set a target that you feel you have to reach and if you don't, you're a failure. Let's not beat ourselves up. Just do the best you can to follow the guidelines and find the foods that work for you. Find an exercise routine that works for you and do it ... a lot.
You're body will find the place it needs to be and you will be heathier for it ... physically and mentally.

It happens when you eat too fast or your bites are too big. I didn't realize I had been doing it until this past Saturday. The consistency is thicker than saliva but thinner than mucous. I was eating and driving and hadn't eaten in like 10 hours (long story), so I didn't realize how fast I was eating.

Surprisingly, I didn't. I say surprisingly because pre-sleeve, every other "diet" I've been on I always stall after 2 weeks and then quit. I lost consistently for 3 months, and then only lost 3.6 lbs the whole month of July. So I call that a stall in my book. BTW I only weigh once/week. I did take progress pictures and have lost A LOT of inches. So I'm not letting this slow loss discourage me. My body will get with the program eventually I want my overall average to be 10 lbs/month, and I'm down 50 in 4 months, so I'm ahead of the curve.
