    I'm my own worst enemy

I was surprised at the exhaustion too. I'm always the resilient one! This is big surgery. I needed to take 2 weeks off (I only thought 1 week max) and it took the first 4 weeks to not feel somewhat fragile. I tried to listen to my body and take it easy when I got home from work. By 8 weeks I was doing pool exercise 3X a week and walking. At 8 weeks there were moments I was worried because I actually forgot about my sleeve. It does get better.

    1 oz every 15 mins?

My doc told me 1 oz every 10 minutes for at least 1o hours of the day. That would leave 14 for sleep and activities away from the house. All liquid counted, shakes, juice, Water, etc. I would make 60 oz. this was only needed the first few weeks. He said if you didn't stay on op of it...it was hard to catch up and dehydration was not good. You need extra Fluid to help kidneys while losing weight at this rate.

    Difficult question to ask.

The duodenal switch ( the sleeve + a intestinal bypass) does make smelly gas and bathroom problems if the person eats a lot of fat. I have know a few people with that surgery. The sleeve itself does not cause the same issues. I have had mine since 6/26 and no problems. I asked my doc before I had my surgery because I did not want those problems. He said it was the bypass part not the sleeve that was the cause.
  13. Ditto...I am 7 weeks out and feel the same about my sleeve.

    Mindful Eating

That's one of my biggest fears that I would forget and take too big of a bite, not chewing properly! It's probably one really big reason I'll hold off on alcohol....potential for forgetfulness and hunger. Bad combination. As I have been feeling more normal it is easier to forget about "mindful eating". Thanks fot the reminder!

    Can't sleep

Thanks for the input! I am working out at night so that could be an issue. I am trying the protein before bed and that is helping. I have been sleeping a little bit better.
  16. I am 4 weeks today. I am really tired at bed time but am not sleeping well. I was sleeping restlessly and waking up thirsty so I made sure to have plenty of Water in the evening and a little Protein. I am exercising and was hoping it would help relax me. If I fall asleep I wake up about 2:30 -3:00 and toss and turn. I have to get up at 5 for work so I am so tired. Is this part of vsg or am I just having insomnia? What's okay to take? I usually take benedryl for sleep problems but worried it would add to dehydration.

    june 3rd sleevers

Hi I am June 26 and I also had some anxiety. My doc gave me ativan (30 tabs)in preparation for post op weeks. He said that it was for anxiety. I thought that was odd because I'm not usually anxious. It was very helpful the first month with sleeping and anxious moments that did occur. They are no longer needed. As I heal and feel stronger and I am able to help myself relax and not stress. I am not sleeping as well as I have in the past. Either I can't fall asleep or can't sleep in as long as my body wishes. I read something about hormones being relased as fat burns that affects sleep patterns. All in all, if I take care of myself, eat well and drink lots of water I feel better than I have in years! Excercise has really helped too. I do pool aerobic/excercise 3 X a week. Also a funny thing about stressing over wieht loss...I kept thinking I was behind for my 3 month goal (what the doc estimated) ,feeling bad and wondering what I could do different in the next 3 weeks. After running it through my mind several times I realized the 26th of August is only 2 months not 3 months. Our minds can be our worst enemy at times ! Everything is going just fine and again I am so much better than in years! Hang in their and appreciate the baby steps...each one counts and we're going in the right direction!

    Dry mouth

I keep a water bottle by night table too.My mouth gets so parched. Everytime I get up to use bathroom I take a few swigs. I finish the water first thing in the morning. Hydration is probably the most import aspect of my new life. Today I woke up wth a headache and i think it is due to travel yesterday and getting off track with my water intake. Not feeling a need to take medicine where in the past I would have loaded up with Ibuprofen. Trying to catch up today with fluids! As much as I hate having a headache I am really enjoying understanding my metabolism better ....I know now that I had little to no understanding of my old body and it's needs. It's never too late to learn
  19. Yep The fluids they give you take a while to get rid of...just temporary.
