Good Protein Tricks Anyone?
@ doctordiva.... They try to hide the protein flavor with a fruity taste but you still can taste the protein. With that said, the taste is horrible, I hold my breath as I sip. But it it's a lot of protein in just 3.8 so to me it's worth the taste.

Good Protein Tricks Anyone?
I struggle with this... The most important part. So I rely on protein shots 42 grams of whey protein. It's called New Whey, 1 vile shot has 180 calories, 2 carbs and 0 sugar. I do 1/2 of one a day (1 vile lasts 2 days) so it's an easy 21 grams right there. GNC sales it for $3.49 a vile. I am going to see the nutritionist this week. I thought I paid careful attention to her ideas but without thisI would not get my 60 grams.

9 Days Post Op
Per my doc and many on this site, first 4-6 weeks is for healing and becoming acclimated with your band. Remember everyone is different so the worse thing you can do is start comparing your results to others. The best you can do is follow the plan your surgeon/nutritionist gave you and you will have results. Also remember that for many; results are not seen until one starts getting fills. Remain encouraged and optimistic. This site is great!!! For any negative you may come across, don't fall prey. Chew up the meat and spit out the bones.... Meaning take what you need from it and leave the rest alone. Good luck to you.

Thyroid Levels Increased... Ugggg!!! Will This Result In Slow Progress??
@chastndeb.. Thank you, I will call her office on Monday to ask about both. I had a hysterectomy last year but still have my ovaries. After all the pathology testing it ended up being cateorgarized as stage 1 uteran cancer. But hysterectomy took care of that. We seem to have similar problems.... I'm 5'1 too, starting weight 256 now 237. But according to your profile weight, I weigh a lot more than you. My goal weight is also higher. That might change for me,I have to see how I feel & look.

Thyroid Levels Increased... Ugggg!!! Will This Result In Slow Progress??
@ chastndeb... I'm just on synthroid (levothyroxine). Were your levels off the chart before the preop diet? I'm trying to find out when mine went south. I really can't say it's the lap band cuz the last time I saw my endo was in August. I was on every 6 months. Now I got to go back to every 2 until levels are back under control. She is the one who said absorption problems.... She's the doc ... What do I know.

Is The Band Frequently On Your Mind?
B-52, I'm fairly new to the site (about a month) and I've only been banded for almost 3 weeks. I notice a lot of negativity and people giving passes for mishaps. I've also read a lot of positive, encouragement and honesty. The latter is what I appreciate the most.... Sort of the old adage "chew up the meat and spit out the bones". I type all of that to say that you may not need this forum as much but the forum definitely needs your insight, experience and expertise. I look forward to reading your posts and responses. I like your honesty and candidness... So THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thyroid Levels Increased... Ugggg!!! Will This Result In Slow Progress??
I went to my endonocrologist yesterday and she was not happy with my newest TSH levels. They should be under 10, I have been at 2.7. However, yesterday found out they are all the way up to 15.2... WTF!!!!! So she increased my synthroid dosage from 112mcg to 125mcg and said I may not be getting full absorption. I told her its only been 3 weeks (almost) but she said that can do it. I do not want this hindering my weightloss. I have loss 19lbs, 14 from preop so only 5 since surgery on January 10th. I know not to compare to others but I'm wondering if the slowness in weight reduction is from healing or the thyroid.

Gall Stones Found
Hello, I'm sorry to her about your gallstones. My doctor was proactive in that he prescribed the ursodiol prior to surgery so that the prescription was already filled and at home. Yes you can crush thm and put in applesauce or why ever is easy for you. Still do not chew but swallow the crush tablet. My doctor said it was the only way to take them. I hope they work so surgery is not needed.

1 Week Post-Op... Can't Burp
So tomorrow will be one week post-op... All things considered I'm doing well. Still slight bleeding from port but no signs of infection and surgeon's office said not to worry. Pain is very minimal BUT biggest problem is I can't burp and I feell full all the time. I'm not getting in my required liquids and protein. AND yes I've walked, done arm windmills, received back rubs and used gas x.

Light Bleeding From Largest Incision
Im calling the doc tomorrow but wanted to know if others experience light bleeding from the port incision? It's not a lot... I only have to change bandage like once a day. It didn't start unil the day after surgery. I wasn't sure if I messed something up by moving. Also it's not infected, no puss just light blood. I was told could have ome from the blood thinner shot.

Does Anyone Use Unjury?
My surgeon's office sales it. I have the unflavored where I have use fruit and sugar free puddings to change flavor. I've also used yogurt. I've heard the chocolate is good. I haven't had surgery but tried a few things to see what I like.

Just Wanted To Say Hi & Introduce Myself!!!!!
To shay33... All liquid diets are different, which one are you doing? I'm on optifast meal replacement for 12days. Because my BMI is 49 I can have 4 shakes, 2 bars and 1 soup per day in addition to clear broth, unsweetened tea and sugar free jello and pops. The 2 days right before surgery I have to stop the bars but can continue with everything else I listed.

Just Wanted To Say Hi & Introduce Myself!!!!!
Thank you both, I started the 2 week liquid diet on Tuesday. It has been brutal but I have loss 5lbs.

Just Wanted To Say Hi & Introduce Myself!!!!!
Hello, I have been following the site for about a week before I joined. I love it and it has been very helpful to me. A BIG thank you to everyone. I get banded on January 10, 2012. I am very excited because it's long overdue. I started this process in 2010 and should have gotten banded this time last year, however; I had to undergo an emergency hysterectomy. Therefore, the process had to be restarted per my insurance company. I look forward to learning from all and eventually providing insight and help to future newbies.
