  1. Hmmmm....I love cilantro, too!
  2. Curious....were you banded in Port Huron, MI? I have the same diet.
  3. I don't drink Protein Drinks but I do use a scoop of whey Protein powder just for the time-released energy boost.
  4. You are not alone! I'm burping like crazy, too! demme
  5. I had my surgery Monday and I don't think I had one. If I did, they removed it before I was awake. Same for when they tube you. I don't remember being tubed nor do I remember it being removed (but I know I had one!) I'm sure a cath is way more difficult for men but I highly doubt you'd need one considering you completely stop drinking by midnight the day before. Ok, I just gotta say it.....Rocko, you're hot! I can't imagine how you're going to swat all the women off you 4-6 mos from now! LOL (p.s. I am happily married so I'm safe...:guess) Anyway, good luck to you. demme
  6. I want a spaghetti sandwich on thick toast, a side of mashed potatoes, some cheesey cauliflower (need some veggies, you know!) cottage cheese and a big ass cup of coffee that I can drink without thinking of small sips. I don't really want dessert but I really am craving the above! :hungry: :help: the realities of day 2.5 demme
  7. Just wanted to say hi from Port Huron! I was banded Monday at Port Huron Hospital and it went really well. Wishing you much luck with the insurance company.
  8. Karen: Glad all went well! I've been thinking about you since we are band twins! Mine went rather well, too, but I'm a little sore. I'm not sore enough for prescription drugs so I'm just using tylenol. As soon as I feel a bit better I'll post a tell all story! Hang on to the edge of your seats........:guess Off to eat my happy yogurt and popsicle! demmemoon Had surgery about 7:30 this morning. Now it's 1:20 and I'm ready for a nap at my house with my new sheets and clean bedroom and the windows flung open with fresh air coming in (plus an arm/shoulder massage from my very DH). Drinking some broth with the loritab. Not much pain--more like pressure in my chest when I have to breathe deep, which the dr. and nurse said I need to do a lot of because my oxygen was a little low. Surgery took about 1 1/2 hours because they had to repair a hiatal hernia that I didn't know I had plus there was some scar tissue to work around from previous surgery (hysterectomy most likely). Ready for dreamland. Will get back to you later. Thanks for your positive vibes, prayers, and good wishes. I'm thrilled! I made it and will be anxious to hear about my bandsisters. Karen
  9. first of all....happy ostara to those that celebrate (and happy tuesday to those that don't :nervous) and second.....i'm in bandlandia!!!!!!!!!! i was banded yesterday in port huron by dr mc-do-me (he is yummy) and all went well. I am having trouble today, though, knowing when i am full. i don't want to eat too much and too quickly and suffer, but i don't want to starve either. i also can drink more than an ounce at a time. is this something you did, too? those tiny 1 oz cups are making me batty!:welldoneclap: i am soo forward to this journey! bless goddess for helping me through the surgery and giving me the strength to do this. demme
  10. AND DON'T WORRY.... ABOUT THE HOT DR. IF YOU ARE GIVEN VERSED DURING SURGERY, YOU ARE LIKELY TO TELL HIM EVERYTHING. See? THIS is the biggest problem and I'll tell you why. The day I decided to check out the lapband at our local hospital I also checked out the job postings board. Just for fun, mind you, as I am a happy stay at home mom who has a small soaping business. Before kids I worked in the OR's as a CRNA tech and loved it. It is the only job I'd ever go back to. Unfortunately, the hospital I worked for is now about an hour away. Well, what do they have posted? A part-time job for a CRNA tech. This hospital is just starting an afternoon shift for the job. And get this, the supervising/hiring CRNA is someone I used to work with at my old job! No friggin' way. I filled out the online application and thought nothing of it. Two days later I had my first phone interview. The day I met with Dr. Boutt I also had my second interview in Human Resources. Two weeks later I was hired (I was upfront about my surgery). So, as you can see, I will basically be meeting everyone I will be working with for the first time in all my nakedness! I can't just babble and go. I have to face these people officially March 28 on my first day of work. :help:
  11. Merry Meet! I just wanted to invite everyone to check out a friends pagan forum. Celene is a very educated pagan and I've been after her to share her knowledge and start a forum. It is open to all pagan paths and is basically a place to exchange ideas and learn from each other. This isn't a fluff-bunny type site. The name alone should sum up its identity. It is called the Rational Pagan and can be found at: www.therationalpagan.org Please come check it out!
  12. ok, so i'm beign banded monday morning and this weekend wait is killing me. too much idle time to let my mind wander and it's affecting my sleep (or lack thereof). doesn't anyone else post about their freak-out stage or am i alone on this? list of random ramblings: 1. must eat everything in sight before sunday morning. once awake i'll be on liquids until i reach the mushie stage. 2. i am terrified of the unknown me. my size is my identity (we'll leave it at that because it would take until monday to get into all my therapy history.) What will i look like at a normal weight? what kind of clothing style do i have? i've shopped so long and chose what I liked/fit me versus what i would choose if i could wear anything i wanted. (i'm leaning toward the LL Bean - eclectic yoga/herbalist look ). 3. i know i'm going to go through a HUGE food mourning stage. the hardest will be ice cream and sweets. fortunately, i like vegetarian cuisine and mediterranean foods. food is my friend, dammit. i'm very curious to see how i handle stress sans food. thank goddess i've learned to meditate! 4. mega afraid to say something stupid while under.:speechles my surgeon is rather hot! 5. not too worried about the dying on the table thing. however, i will be paranoid for a few days about slippage, erosion, gremins eating my band ( ), etc. i have a tendancy for the dramatic! Ok, now for some routine questions: 1. just how naked are you on the table? can you wear socks? were you able to get into jammies once in your room? 2. do you get a cath before anesthesia? 3. does the iv stay in overnight or just a few hours after surgery? thanks for reading this let alone answering any of my ramblings. aaaarggghhhhh.....i wish it were 6:00am monday morning!
  13. Not banded until Monday, but what you're describing sounds exactly like what i went through after both c-sections. I still (5 years later) get that itch and can't scratch it properly because the incision line is still a bit numb. I can relieve about 80% of the phantom pain. It comes and goes but I remember it being at its worse the first year. Hope that eases your mind!
  14. Thinking of you today and wishing you well!
  15. So glad you're feeling better. I may post my happenings after my surgery, too. I love your sense of humor! Oh, how I wish I were in TN!!! I would LOVE to go to your festival. Where I am there aren't any pagan festivities (that i know of) I keep searching but nothing yet. Have some fun for me!!!
  16. I agree. I just went to look at this stuff and holy cow....with milk it's 640 calories. I think Slimfast is way gross by the way! I'm still looking, though.
  17. sorry to hear you're so upset with your progress. could you possible post a menu of your typical day. be honest so we can see if there are places to pinpoint and help you. i mean no harm. i am posting this without pointing fingers or blame. i want you to know we are here to help and support one another.
  18. Anyone else notice that all of the above that replied have some kind of Simpson avatar? Dooooohhhhh........
  19. I have an 8 year old son who can't seem to keep a secret! For some reason, he confused my psych eval for my surgery and told his teacher today that i was having surgery. He then proceeds to tell her that the doc is putting a rubber band around my stomach and putting special water with sleeping medicine in my arm (on a side note...wow. he really can listen! I wasn't so sure anymore! ) So, I guess my secret is out!
  20. MM! I am deb aka demmemoon and an a neo-pagan polythiest kitchen witch. Got all that? I am a married mom of 2 boys (5 & 8) whom I am raising to walk the pagan path. They will be free to choose what religion/spirituality they want for themselves but I want them to be open-minded and caring of all things. My husband is an aethiest (who is vice-principal of a catholic high school ) By trade I am a soapmaker and aromatherapist. You can kind of get an idea what I do at www.tubtopia.com I am also working on creating signature perfumes using all natural oils. Essential oils and herbs are my passion. Anyway, glad to see this thread here! BB. demmemoon
  21. Count me in as "Other", too! Maybe we should get our own category so we can discuss our weight loss journey along with our spiritual journey. I know I wouldn't want to take on this journey without Goddess by my side! Blessed Be to all my Other sisters here. demmemoon
  22. Hey Virginia! I'm scheduled for March 19th, too. I have hadall my testings done save for the psych one (March 1) and meet for the final time with my PCP on Monday to get all forms ready to be sent in. I kinda hate having the date without the approval because it leaves room for denial, but the sugeon is sure everything will go through just fine. Are you nervous yet? I'm not too bad but I'm sure it will get me either once I'm approved or the closer the time gets. Fingers crossed! debc
  23. I'll play! What, if anything, is too serious to joke about? Anything that would hurt the audience that's listening (excluding those who choose to pay to see a comic) If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or one ability, what would it be? The ability to be nice to myself and do the things I keep meaning to do like meditate, try yoga, plan better meals for myself, etc... Whom, if anyone, do you envy enough to want to trade lives with them? My sons (5&8) but only for a day or two! If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be? I would have lived with my grandfather and not my toxic parents. If there were a public execution on tv, would you watch it? Yes, I like demented things. Would you rather arrive at a party underdressed or overdressed? Under-dressed. WAY, way more comfy than stuffy dress up clothes. What's more important: actual experiences, or the memories that remain from those experiences? While the actual experience is important, I think the memories or lessons learned are more important. It usually takes some time to realize what the experience has taught. Think of your 20's and what you learned from them into your 30's. In real conversations, do you tend to talk more or listen more? depends on the conversation. If you had to chose one, would you rather be blind or deaf? At my age now if I had to choose to lose one I'd pick going blind. I already have in my memory what everything I need to see looks like or can imagine what my boys will look like as adults. I love sounds and music far too much to give them up. Of course, I may change my mind if allowed a cochlear implant! lol debc
  24. Who is your insurance carrier? I'm hoping to skip the 6 mos diet clause. Thanks! deb
