Thanks guys for the support! I do appreciate it! My assistant is out having a baby, so she called this morning when I was crying to check on me. She heard me sobbing and said, 'Oh, no you don't ! You've wanted this too long to doubt yourself now! Pull your big girl panties up and let's do this!' That's pretty much what I told her when she called me crying during labor from her hospital bed! So, I offer the same advice to all of us - let's pull the big girl panties up and get through this! The rest of it (how much will I lose, will I be successful, etc.) can wait until the surgery is done!

OK this is my first time on this site... I am being Sleeved on Aug 27th Today I started the first day of liquid diet leading up to my surgery! I have been having mobility issues and I hope by loosing significant weight that I will be able to get around a little better! I need to be able to keep up with my Grandson who is 17 months old! I wanted to get this surgery done earlier in the Summer but by the time I jumped through all the insurance hoops I got a late Summer date!

I'm scared of failure as well. I feel so much pressure and while I love my husband dearly I know he will be the first one to say "I told you so" if I fail. He's against this surgery.
I keep telling myself that even if I only lose 50lbs it is still going to add years to my life. Even if I gain some of what .i lose back I can't possibly gain it all back.
I am determined to do my best every single day. I have already changed my health and eating habits and I will continue to do so every sinlge day. I will succeed even if the number on the scale isn't what I have to use to determine my success, and so will you.

I had a slight breakdown this morning! I was getting ready for work and just started crying my eyes out! It's not that I'm scared.... Okay, maybe a little, but I think my biggest fear is failure once again. What if it doesn't work for me? This seems like such a last ditch effort and I don't want to screw this up! Anybody feeling my pain out there?

Wow I cant believe it 4 more sleeps until the sleeve. My first day on liquids is good so far, i even went to Breakfast and dinner with my musband and friends without any longing for food(does this happen later perhaps).
Found that the muscle milk is actually tolerable, Ohyeah Protein drink was gross but i made it through.

I had surgery thursday and i'm still in the hospital, Its been rough but i'm doing alot better. Going home in the morning

The first number on my scale this morning was a 1, yay!!!! It has not been a 1 in five years so I'm super happy today! My weight loss hasn't been as quick as some others but I am so happy with the progress I have made. I love my sleeve!
I weighed 260lbs 1 week before my surgery, 251 on the day of surgery, and 199 today. My weight loss slowed after the 2nd month, I now lose about 8 pounds a month (which I will gladly take!!!)
I did have a ton of hairloss but it has stopped or at least slowed greatly. I do take my Vitamins everyday along with Biotin and Iron. I feel like my weight loss is coming off differently than in the past when I've slimmed down before having kids. I am holding a ton of weight in my belly still. I don't really notice a ton of sagging skin but my eyes have more wrinkles from where my face has lost fat. Oh well!
I try to get my fluids and Protein in, it's getting harder since I get more food than Protein drinks, but I try for at least one Protein Drink per day. I really like EAS myoplex, Adkins, and Slim Fast protein. I hate the juice Protein Drinks. I hope to lose another 60 pounds by next March. Good luck all!!! Happy losing!

The more you cheat, the harder recovery will be and the longer your surgery may be (time wise). The reason behind the liquid diet is to shrink the fat around your liver, allowing the operation to go more smoothly. You still have four more days- you can do it!!

You have to think back when you decided to have the sleeve surgery and how dedicated you were to get healthy. And also If you start eating unhealthy and stretch your stomach back out, it will all be wasted time and effort and money. play that ROCKY music in your head and charge forward eating right and doing what your body needs and your family and friends around you. Good Luck, I am almost three weeks out and I see the candy bars my kids get and the tasty food, then I remember THAT food is what got me to being fat and overweight and I absulutely REFUSE to go back to that. Drink your Powerade zero and Water, dry toast and such.

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted, but a HUGE Congratulations to everyone that has had their surgery! August is bread with awesome soon to be healthier people. I'm glad that everyone is recovering well. That is very motivating to see going in. This forum is great! Hi all. I was sleeved yesterday. I have had an overall great experience. Very little pain, however the gas was the worst part. I have been up walking several times and the gas is getting better and better. I would recommend Dr Kelly to anyone. He and his staff are great. The staff here at the Oasis of florence hospitals are great too. Just wanted to let you all know. Congratulations to my other August 10th sleever brothers and sisters. Ttys!

Not sure how I missed this Aug. group so far, but here goes. . . My surgery was Aug 7 in Dallas. It was performed by Dr. Nicholas at Forrest Park Medical Center. I had a pretty serious nausea reaction to the anesthesia so I had to stay 2 nights in the hospital. Home now on Dr. Nick's 3 week super thin to clear liquid diet. Sippin some iced tea and starting to feel a little stronger.

OK....so I hit a bump in the road...I'm still in the hospital. I had a pin hole leak...n had to go back in surgery Wednesday.... the day I should've went home. I am feeling a lot better n should be home by Sunday. At least it was found before I went home....out of the thousands of surgeries he has performed.. I am his first leak.

Hi , I am slowly doing better I have no leaks or strictures my problem was just acid reflux and air pockets , but because I basically went 2 months without eating or getting in my Protein and Vitamins I've developed a problem with walking on my own I loose my balance and fall so I urge everyone new no matter how bad you feel get your protein and vitamins down !!!!

I am so thoroughly impressed and in awe of those of you traveling so far to have this surgery. What an absolute commitment and speaks volumes about your strength and determination. I realize that the reason for this (some, not all) may be because you are self pay, and perhaps if insurance covered things on your end, you'd be able to have things done closer to home, but the fact that you have made this choice is really amazing!!
I'm just so proud of all of us!!Regardless of how we got here, we are here and by the end of this month we are going to be one amazing group of August Sleevers!!
