  1. Dorrie, may i friend u as well on MFP? I'll be sleeved soon and it might help me to see what people ate. Thx!!
  2. Good luck to you! I have butterflies and I'm not scheduled til the 14th! A new chapter in your life is about to be written!!
  3. Wow, $16K???? I had no idea. I wonder why Terracina doesn't take your insurance! You would think they would take all the major companies. I swear, he and is PA and the whole office staff, for that matter, are super nice and knowledgeable. I had a friend that chose the gastric bypass and Terracina did that one for her. That's how I found out about him. The only other thing I suggest, is to check out the doctors in Mexico. Tons of self-pay people on this forum have gone to MX for very cheap and have had an awesome experience. good Luck!
  4. I've heard of so many people's diabetes symptoms subsiding shortly after surgery as they lose weight. And also ceasing to take their medicine after surgery. Possibly this will happen to you? I guess it depends on which type of diabetes it is -- type II?
  5. I would think that you would be rescheduled the first opportunity since you were ahead of the line! I believe that everything happens for a reason. It'll be worth the wait. I've been waiting 13 months for this surgery so I know I would be frustrated! Keep us posted!!
  6. Hi! I'm in Newport News! I was going to the Weight Loss Surgery Center in NN but I wasn't crazy about some of their requirements - like a mandatory $1,000 that the Dr. wants from the patient (can't be run through insurance) to attend his gym and some other workshops. So I switched to Tidewater Surgery Specialists - Dr. Anthony Terracina (out of Mary Immaculate Hospital). What a great group of people!!!! Dr. T actually taught the laprascopic procedure to the Dr. from the former center I mentioned. I have 23 more days! Hope this helps you!
  7. Hi! I have 23 days left until my surgery. My back always hurts and my left knee hurts too. I have 3 beautiful granddaughters (and one more granddaughter to arrive late July). I want to be able to run and play with the 4 girls. I'm feeling 85 instead of 55. I wish I could have done this 10 years ago. Can't wait until June 14!
  8. You look so much younger! Beautiful - can't wait to lose my weight!
  9. I feel exactly the same, Duranfan!!! You took the words right out of my mouth! I told a friend that now that I have a real date, I'm real scared! LOL And I cannot envision myself thin either. Every once in a while I think of backing out but then I realize why I'm doing this and I'm good with it. All the best!!
  10. Good luck Chimera!!!! I will be in your place in 24 days!! Check in and tell us how you are doing!
  11. The taco bell refried beans are not high in calories - like 120 for a serving but it only has about 7 g of protein. The bad thing is the sodium - 610 mg. but they definitely are good! There is 20 g of carbs as well.
  12. My insurance made me wait 12 months!!!!! I thought a year was going to take forever to go by. But the day finally came and now i have a date of 6/14. 3 1/2 weeks to go!
  13. And my Dr. In VA doesnt require any pre op diet. Im sure most people wish there was an industry standard!
  14. Hi Brianna!! My name is Briana!!! I will be sleeved on 6/14. My doctor does not require a pre-op diet either. Just a liquid diet the day before surgery. Good Luck!
  15. June 14 for me toooooo! Newport News, VA
  16. Happy Surgiversary!!! You look awesome!! My journey will begin on June 14. I'm very scared right now but I keep reading testimonials like yours and it gives me hope! Thank you for sharing your story!
  17. You poor thing! What is mag citrate and why do you have to take it?
  18. I used to drink and i used to smoke. I have NO desire to pick either one up again ever. The only things left are exercise and sex! Hummmmm. Lol
  19. Hang in there Anewlife.....! I had an epiphany (sp?) last week. I couldnt figure out why i became suddenly hesitant about the surgery once the ins company gave me approval. The surgery became real and so did the fact that I would be losing my "best friend" -- food. Ive read this on the forum a hundred times but it still doesnt calm my own fears. Support groups and counseling are great. And i agree w/you -- I hope I replace my old friend w/a new friend. I would love it to be exercising or walking -- even tho i hate both right now! Lol
  20. Tibbie, I didnt have any pain when my gall bladder was removed either and i know they must have used gas since it was laproscopic. I hope Im as lucky when i have the surgery on June 14!
  21. ***June 14 over here!!***
  22. Thanks for the input! My pills are in capsules and time released, so I have to take them intact. We shall see how I do!
  23. I bought the Listerine strips and they work wonders!! The sweet breath after, really lasts a long time!
  24. Welcome Chell! Great question because I take two pills every day and one of them I cannot miss, so I've been wondering about this myself. I plan on bringing this up when I see the dietician 10 days before surgery.
