  1. Dear Minnieme, If it wasnt for this forum, I think I would have backed out of surgery several times. (Btw, MGT, I felt like I was reading about me in ur post - Im 55 and have always done for everyone else!). My surgery was mid-June and I'm down 53 lbs. Sooooo glad I did this. You can post on here right up until you're getting ready to be wheeled in for surgery and there will be someone here for you. Btw, my esteem has risen so much that sometimes when I'm talking and laffing to someone I stop dead and think "hey I remember that woman from years ago!" Good luck!!!
  2. I am 7 weeks out. My suggestion is to go back to soft foods or just a protein shake diet for a bit. No hotdogs or ham. Try eggs, fish, refried beans -- high protein but soft.

It is July 2012 - There will be no after pics until I'm done!
  4. Yes! Have it checked out immediately. You don't want to play around with that. Good luck and keep us posted when you return from the Dr.
  5. I had a headache for a few days. The more liquid i ingested, the better it got.
  6. I know the feelings going thru your mind right now! It was 13 short days ago for me! You will be fine and you will join this elite group of "losers" tmrw! All the best to you both!
  7. Hi!!! I live in Hampton Roads, VA. Sleeved 6/14/12 - 13 days post-op. still on liquid phase; down 11 lbs. about to advance to pureed stage on Friday. My Dr has a aupport group once a month. My first one will be in a few weeks. I LOVE my Dr and his team! Good Luck to everyone!
  8. Surgery was 6/14. Stayed in hosp 3 nights as I Had a bleeder blood vessel. Ended up getting 2 pints of blood. I'm okay now! Down 10.5 lbs. can't wait til Friday for the pureed stage!!
  9. I was sleeved 6/14 and I, too, have the same growling. I thought that I was hungry. Turns out its heartburn/acid reflux. Once I take my omeprazole, it stops.
  10. Amber, Since u were so sweet to share the no-bread bread recipe i wanted to share with you my Quinoa recipe! I replaced rice w/quinoa a couple of years ago before considering wls. I sautee red onion in olive oil. I cook the quinoa in a rice cooker - same proportions as rice. When its done, I pour it in a bowl, add the onions, some fat free feta cheese, capers, lemon juice and salt & pepper. Delish! Excellent source of protein! Quinoa comes from Peru. There are different colors too: red, black and white. I dont know the difference cuz Ive only bought the white. A 5lb bag is $10 at costco. Regular grocery stores charge alot for a small amount. Hope this helps!
  11. Ok everyone, i feel better! I've heard the phrase "it slides right thru the sleeve." but how does our food get absorbed if it goes right thru the sleeve? Is that done further down in the intestines? I need to take an anatomy class! Lol
  12. I'm trying to figure out why I dont feel full. I can drink a 6 oz cup of broth pretty quickly and I dont feel full. I had a 1/4 cup of sugar free pudding earlier and wasnt full either. Makes me think I wasn't sleeved haha - but i have the darn bruised stomack to proove it! Can anyone tell me why I'm like this?
  13. Kat1, You poor thing! I'm sorry you are going through this. Are you still in Mexico or are you going to a local dr now?
  14. So very sorry to hear that. I've been battling a low-grade fever but it's getting better. I had a bleeder blood vessel. Had to stay in the hospital 2 extra days and received 2 pints of blood. My body is still dealing with this but it's almost done. Take care of those port holes!
  15. Good luck to all of you. I am 5 days post op and doing fine. Its a great joirney. I'm not going to weigh myself until my 2 wk post-op visit to the Dr. They pump a lot of fluids into you and it can hang around a bit.
  16. My surgery went fine on 6/14 but i have a blood vessel that won't stop bleeding. Im losing blood but the Drs want my blood to clot at the bleeder point. That way they wont have to go back in for another surgery. I feel fine; blood pressure is nornal and ive started sipping on protein shakes. Hope to go home tmrw.
  17. Good luck! Im heading to hospital in 30 mons! Finally the day is here!!!!!
  18. To all my June 14 sleeve sisters and one sleeve brother that I know of, good luck to us tmrw! I hope you all have a successful surgery! Talk to you on the other side!
  19. I have waited over 14 months for my sleeve day to get here. I've been through a lot of emotions over this time period as well. Approaching the mandatory counseling with a lackadaisical attitude -- not even sure if surgery was right for me. Even got to the point of quitting and then realized that if I ever wanted to consider the surgery down the road, I would have to go through this all over again. I discovered the sleeve (was looking into g-bypass) and that peaked my interest. TI became a sponge and tried to read everything about the VSG. Got super nervous that the insurance company wouldn't approve me but they did. Then changing doctors because I didn't like the first one. Once I got my approval at the beginning of May, I was able to select my own date since I knew I couldn't have the surgery until June due to work logistics. Then waiting for June 14 to get her and now I'm almost there!!! My hat goes off to all of the forum members who had to do more than one day of a pre-op diet. I only had to do it today and I'm freakin' starving!! I've just been keeping my mind busy -- tying up loose ends at work. I went through the panic stage over the last month, thinking to myself, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING??" I just kept the reasons I'm doing this, in the forefront so as not to lose site of the reason I started this journey. My BFF and my daughter also kept refreshing my memory as to why I'm doing this. I am 55 years old and I truly wish this was an option through my insurance 10 years ago but, hey! whaddya gonna do? LOL Tomorrow at 9am I will begin the first day of the rest of my life and join all of you kind people on the infamous losers bench!
  20. Whew, I'm ready to go too! Less than 48 hours!
