The first two weeks are the worst... it WILL get better. Remember why you did this in the first place. It's not the easy choice, but it's a good choice. Yep, recovery SUCKS. Getting used to eating less is not easy... but give it a month, give it two months... you will be AMAZED at how much better you feel. There will days that you forget you were sleeved.. until you have a meal and get full with just a small amount of food. But then you will be satisfied. You will have had just a few bites of that corned beef sandwich that you so desire... you will have enjoyed it... and you will be full and happy. Hang in there!!!!

Wow why are you yelling at us? Like shewolf asks did you not do your research before you had the surgery. Regardless, THERE IS NO TRUNING BACK NOW!! You need to get a grip and take full advantage of this time to lose weight. It may not be an easy road, which I sense it is not for you, but you have no choice at this point. I agree you need a support group or your surgeon to get you on the right track. Your eating life will NEVER be the same, so mourn its' loss but MOVE ON!

I was sleeved on 12/28/11 and am down 76lbs since surgery and down 107lbs from my heaviest point.
I have just returned from my check up. Hard to believe I am only 4 months away from my one year anniversary. The doc is very pleased with my progress and so am I. At my one year mark he has agreed to give me a referral to see the plastic surgeon for body contouring. I have a lot of excess skin around my butt and thighs. So I am very excited about that. He is pretty sure the insurance will cover it so double bonus. My goal is to be 140 by 12/28/13 which is my one year mark.
This journey has been so life changing. This summer I wore tank tops, summer dresses, went down a Water slide with my kids and even wore a bathing suit almost all summer! I even wore my first little black dress while in Vegas as you can see from my profile pic.
My food cravings come and go but I find myself craving "refreshing" foods like fruit or fish. Strangest thing. Some of my old habits started to creep back in but I am aware of them so I try to control myself. If I eat sweets, I get a case of dumping syndrome. I start to sweat and feel nauseous so I just stay away from those foods now. I do not drink soda or beer. On occasion I have a piece of toast. I am able to eat a bit more than before. But according to my doctor I need to make sure my portions stay small, eat a little more often if need be as long as I am eating the right foods, but small portions. Otherwise, you can run the risk of stretching your sleeve. I did not come this far to have that kind of a problem. There was a point around 5 months post op when I was dealing with heartburn but I got that under control. I am dealing with Hair loss which is very sad. So even though I am getting my Protein in I am suffering through my loss of hair. I am trying a couple of products to see if I can grow it back. I will keep you posted on that. My stomach gurgles a lot. I am so used to it now though. When I am getting full I start to burp a little. I call that my full meter I still have a tendency to be an emotional eater so I try to stay aware of that. Guess that is just life at this point!
My activity level is through the roof! I have so much energy, I sleep better, I have more patience and am a lot calmer. This procedure not only saved my life, it gave me a life.
Only a few people know that I have had the surgery and I personally like to keep it that way. I was given a tool but like any tool it will not work if I don't use it! So I don't want to hear people say I took the "easy way out". I may have to punch them. So I just don't say anything.
I love this board and have missed seeing what the December sleevers are up to.
    Take care!

Hey all. I was sleeved 12/5/11. I've lost a 114 pounds so far. Things have slowed down for me a lot lately too, but I know it'll happen! I've gone from size 22 jeans to my 12s getting to be a bit bigger. I too have a hard time with regular Water, but I love Propel. I still struggle with getting in enough fluids too. And I find myself wanting to snack a bit here and there. I've given into it too much lately and the fact that I started dating a chef doesn't help much either. At least what he makes is fresh ingredients and usually healthier options.
So glad you are all doing well!
    Keep it up!

Know you are not alone in feeling this way, I have been feeling this way alot lately too, I go to my surgeon thursday, I am going to address him with my concerns, I try to stay positve, but is so depressing to think of how much time and money we put in to lose the weight, and then when we are not overly successful we get down in the dumps

You are right. We are so incredibly hard on ourselves because we have been beaten down our whole lives not just by others, but by ourselves. We should know better, we can't have this, we can't have that, we are failures. It just creates a vicious cycle of guilt and shame then over-eating because we feel bad, then more guilt and shame. Everyday is a battle for me to overcome all these little demons inside. But I try to keep perspective. If I eat a small ice cream cone, it isn't going to make me gain weight...it is eating them everyday that will. It is important to learn to be kinder to ourselves.

mchez get where you are coming from
difficult situation being excited about the WL - yet friends are heavy, and it might be embarrassing for them
to hear what you want to talk about - or they just are kindof ashamed of themselves. - whatever the reason, things might not go well
i understand these are close friends of yours, but don't let them bring you down - don't let them do that, don't you fall back to bad eating habits to be friends with them more, you know what i mean
you wanted this WLS for you and your future - please hold on to that, you'll continue to flourish!
65 lbs down, weigh way to go - take care, keep up the exercise and continue to eat well, you'll be fine

sorry you are feeling so down
some of us loose weight slower than others. thats ok - we're all here for the long haul.
you've already accomplished so much - pat yourself on the back
"try and do my best to eat right"
its hard to always stay on the straight and narrow - things can get harder when you are in a down mood. don't sabatoge yourself now - you feel down, so you eat more/badly since you are upset. / vicious cyle - we've all been there
good for you that you keep working out at the gym
no therapist here, but it sounds like you are depressed over whats going on with your weight/life
do you have any friend/relative you can talk to? (besides us of course) not necessarily about weight/just talk as a friend.
it doesn't matter how long it takes a person to cross the finish line, as long as you cross it - or get close
(i know this is easy to say, but.....)
don't ever compare other peoples weight loss, time frame etc. other peoples stats are not important...just look to improving your hard work w/the sleeve
never ever compare to others with WLS or in life in general - you know that
BTW your weight loss is great - be proud
you are the only important person here thats important -
be good to you, you can turn this around - i know you can
    good luck
    take care my friend :)

My surgeons tell me to take a bite, wait 10 minutes then take another. LOL who can do this? I can't, so what I do is take a bite wait a few minutes and take another bite. Recently, I remembered at the orientation for bariatric surgery for weight loss, the head doc at Kaiser stated, "it will take you 45 minutes to eat half a sandwhich." Doing the math because I had a tendency to eat a little too much, I divided 45 by 10 minutes and figured out that I can only take about 4.5 bites per meal. That has helped alot. So now I count bites and try to slow them down.
I was always hungry for the first 8 weeks. My surgeons never told me about prilosec or nexium for the stomach acid. I received feedback from other members of our club and they suggested prilosec. Since beginning taking it, my hunger has decreased. Today I found that I continue to loose weight at a good pace. about 2 lbs since last tuesday. Love it....
Give your tummy time to register that you are full. Put your food down after taking a bite and do something, then come back to it. If you don't like cold food, then keep the food in a tortilla warmer. You might find this helpful..
Congrats! Your hungry tummy monster will adjust LOL.

Hang in there ladies!!! During my first 8 weeks I stalled TWICE, each lasting 14+ days. I was angry, sad and frustrated....but, I did find that the inches were melting off during that time. Then it was like I hit a groove and lost good numbers after that for the next month. Stick to your program and this will work. You will get through the stall and when you hit goal you will look back and realize that it was just a blip on your radar in the whole scheme of things.
I'm stalled again now, but it could be more holiday related than anything. Darn those family members and their sweets!!!

I know how you feel I was 3 weeks post op yesterday and for the last four days my scale stayed the same, but this morning it show I lost like a half a pound. This is normal we will get some stalls throughout this journey it's just our bodies trying to figure out what’s going on. Don’t be mad or sad it is normal. Just think about all the weight you have lost since the begining of the process.
