Denied!
Thankfully my PCP doctor knew they wanted her to see me and not her nurse...otherwise I would have been denied. Most insurances follow the guidelines of MEDICAID/MEDICARE. Which of course is ran by the government. Good luck to everyone in this thread!

Uuuggghhhh Time Is Sooo Slow!!!
Very inspirational. My wife was banded last October (late october) and has lost 50 lbs...when I took her to JC Penny's she actually got into a smaller size and she was just in the normal jeans section..not the maternity (which she expected)....I can't wait until my waist size goes down...I expect to be in at least 34 waist jeans next year at this time.

Comorbidities, Stress & Geez...
- Pre Op Diet Not Going Well
you'll be fine. they wont cancel your surgery. My wife slipped on the liquid diet during her pre-op two week diet and her surgery went fine.- Just Starting The Process..
Good luck on your journey. I started to gain weight after college and now I'm 100-110 lbs overweight. I'm getting banded in June. Good luck on your journey. Keep us updated! You will succeed!- Im New To This!
Congrats on being banded! Welcome To The Forum. I look forward to reading your posts down the line to see how you are succeeding!- Fitbit Alternatives?
Are there any more affordable alternatives to fitbit? $100 isnt that bad, but is there anything out there that is similar for less?- Comorbidities, Stress & Geez...
a roll of quarters weigh a half a pound btw...so yeah that would be a lot of quarters... perhaps wear sweats the day you are weighed and wear ankle weights heh- Comorbidities, Stress & Geez...
put a few rolls of quarters in your pockets!- My Utube
what is utube?- Surgery Set For June 12, 2012
Congrats to you! My surgery is set for June 26, 2012 (though I'm trying to get it moved to an earlier date...we'll see).- So Frustrating
And I finally speak with the scheduler who acts more like a doctor and my information so far is: 2nd Surgeon appointment on 06/20/2012 Surgury 06/26/2012. Going to try to get the appointment moved up by a couple weeks because of a new surgeon which I won't know for a couple weeks...we will see.- So Frustrating
oh did i mention that I called in to see when the best time was to talk with her and I've been on hold for over 5 minutes with their front desk.- So Frustrating
So my insurance company sent over my approval last wednesday and then Thursday at 4:45pm the scheduler called to schedule my appointment, so when I tried calling them back they already closed shop. Now its Monday at 12:39pm and I have yet to get ahold of the scheduler. I'M BEYOND FRUSTRATED. She says she will call me, but I'm at work and I work monday - friday 10a-630pm so I don't know what to do and I'll be upset if this delay puts me into July.- 9 Year Old Taken Out Of His Home
http://www.toledoblade.com/State/2012/05/11/Obese-9-year-old-boy-removed-from-Ohio-home-sheds-50-lbs.html So an eight year old was taken out of his home because his mother didn't assist her son in losing weight. At one point he weighed 216lbs. He was placed in a foster home and then in his uncle's home when he turned nine and his uncle got him to a gym 3 days a week and got him swimming and playing basketball and now he is back with his mother with supervised care. YMCA gave the kid a free membership and he's down to around 165. The normal weight for a nine year old is around 60 pounds. Hopefully he'll continue to lose weight. thoughts?- Long-term Study
so the people studied got banded from 2000 to 2005? The band is a different beast now. That and I agree that the band is meant for motivated people. It's a tool.- Uuuggghhhh Time Is Sooo Slow!!!
thats throwin' me off too? do you mean May 15th?- Approved
So my surgery will be sometime between the 2nd and the last week of June. I'll have it tied down on Monday!- Insurance Will Only Pay For 80% If They Approve
awesome coverage!- Does Exercise Affect Your Band Tightness?
I've heard of similar experiences. It's all about the amount of calories you eat and the amount of activity you have that burns those calories. But you have to eat the right amount of calories to match the activity you do on a daily basis. If you are consuming 1000 calories but you have a mild work out 3-5 days a week, most would say that you would burn 3k of calories on that kind of diet/exercise plan... What was your bariatric doctor's thought on it? if you havent seen him, perhaps you should have a checkup!- My 6 Months Are Up!
Congrats! I finished my 6 months in April, after that I met with the surgeon, then with the psych doc, then went to an education class. I got my approval Wednesday and the surgeon's office got it Thursday, and I'm scheduling my surgury first thing Monday morning! I'll be banded by the end of June!- Swollen 2 Swanky-Newbie Here!!
Will Power <----- Two words to remember. As is the fact that the band is a tool that will assist you in losing the weight, but ya gotta watch what you eat and you should start some kind of an exercise plan, even if it's just walking...- Insurance Will Only Pay For 80% If They Approve
and what does your old insurance cover?- So Irritated!
So my insurance sent over approval Thursday morning and I got an email at 3:50pm Thursday saying that I was approved and they were forwarding my chart to the scheduler....the scheduler decided to call me right before they flipped the phones over to the answering service and she says "I won't be in tomorrow so if I dont talk to you today I'll call you Monday...by the way the dr. is booked up to June 26th at the main hospital, now he is adding a new surgeon on June 1st so I could talk to him to get you in an earlier date because of that..." So of course i can't call her back since its now with the answering service. But that irritates the $*it out of me. I've emailed my irritation with the case work and asked her to call me in the morning because I shouldnt have to wait until Monday to schedule the surgery.....  arrrrggggg - Pre Op Diet Not Going Well
