C25K Question And First Nsv!
I know you feel good and ready to get started, but I think if your doctor told you to wait 3 weeks, then you should wait three weeks......You just never know....I would hate to pull something loose and mess things up. Maybe you could just walk this first week and start c25k in another week. If you have your heart set on starting, I would at least call the doctor an get the ok.....have you even had your post-op appointment yet?

Omg, Don't Like The Shakes, I'm Sooooo Hungry!!!
I would suggest the New Whey Protein shots. they have 42 grams of protein in about 4oz. They are more like Kool-Aid....Walmart sells a few flavors for about 2.50 each. I usally mix them with a crystal light and split them into two servings. I like to mix grape with grape.....watermellon with cherry lemonade......acia berry with blackberry grape. I usually with blenderize a cup of ice and then pour the drink over top of the ice....make a great slushie. (if you blenderize the drink mix with the ice, it sometimes gets very foamy and isnt very good.

So Upset - First Throw Up
Hi Bandedneakyminx12, I know its hard ....I'm right there with you (I was banded on the 19th) but I really want to encourage you to slow down a little bit.....I think your mind is ready for the full diet, but not your stomach. Chips are NOT a mushie and I think you might want to stay away from overly spicy food as well. You have worked hard to get to this place and I know that you would be very upset if your bad slips before you even get to use it. It probably would be best to go back to liquids for today and then stick to the true mushie diet....and don't forget the rules :chew, chew chew and watch drinking while your eating. Hang in there....I know its hard and its going to take time to break old habbits and make better ones...but you can do this!!

Need Your Opinion
I just got back from my first post-op apptointment....all went well and I can move forward to mushies for one week and then a regular diet. But heres my question. I can either have my first fill on March 26, but I am leaving on a cruise on May 4. That will give me 1 week to adjust to my first fill.....is that enough time? If I don't get the fill on the 26th I won't be able to get it until May 17. I think I would like to have it done on the 26th....but I wanted those that have already went through the first fill to let me know if I am pushing it. The dr was ok with giving it to me early because he said I have done so well with post-op. But he wanted me to think about it first. So fellow bandsters......would you please think for me!---haha I know we are all different, but being that its just the first fill.....it seems like the majority on here but feel anything after the first one....so it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal.--And if for some reason it was a mistake I would still have several days to go back and have the Fluid removed before the cruise.

Follow The Rules And Think Before You Eat !
Ummm.....I kinda have found that if I eat while on the LBT that it takes me FOREVER to finish my lunch. I take a bite and then read, read, read, then take a bite and type type type. It just shows that LBT is good for a lot of things.--haha

Scars
I wouldn't worry about the scares....I had 7 incisions and all but the port look like nothing more than a scratch. I'm only 16 day out so the port insion is still covered in the dermabond, so I can't tell exactly tell what its going to look like....but it surely isn't going to be a massive scare....it should fit in nicely with the stretch marks....haha

No Pop Ever. Really?
You know how a plastic bottel of soda feels when you buy it? How you can push on the plastic and there is some give in it. Now remember that day when you dropped the bottel and when you pick it up how it has expanded and is now hard as a rock. Now we all know what happens if you just open the bottel right away....how it spews everywhere.....where do you think all that extra gas is going to go when its in your belly? NOT a good idea. Not worth messing things up for a soda.

How Quickly Can I Expect To Lose The Weight?
Exercising 2-3 times is a good start, but I would encourage you to set aside 30 mins a day to just move. I hate exsercise!! so I have to play mind games with myself to ever do it. Everyday at 11am I make my lunch at sit it in the frig.....then I tell myself you can eat when you move for 30 mins if I don't move then I tell myself its a protein shake instead.....The thought of drinking any more of those protein drinks makes me get up and move almost every time----I hate those things!!! Works for me. I find that it is much harder to break a habbit that you do every day than one you only do every other day.

Calling All Runners! Question For You!
The fact that one week you are able to run without getting winded and then all of a sudden the next week you can't, signals me that you need to see your GP to make sure nothing else is going on. It is one thing to have a hard time getting back up to pace after a break, but if you feel like you had got back into the swing of things after taking a 4 week break and then are having issues.....doesn't sound like it is an endurance issue. Get a check up just to make sure.

Slow Weight Loss
Try not to put to much pressure on yourself while you are healing. The 11pounds is awesome!! When you are able to have more control over what you eat, I'm sure you will be successful! I'm actually looking forward to the solid stage....The post op diet is very carb friendly and not Protein friendly--except for the shakes and since my surgery on March 19 I have only lost 7 pounds where before that I was able to keep to a high protein/low carb diet and lose about a pound almost every day ! So I can't wait to get the green light to realy food so I can return to the high protein/ low carb way of life. Ketosis is a wonderful thing! Hang in there!

Pre-Op Testing Scheduled And Nervous
It normal to start second guessing your decision when the time comes to make the jump. I know I did. I had started to loose weight on the pre-op diet and suddenly began to rethink the idea that maybe this time I could do it on my own and keep the weight off. -----But then I realized I was just self sabotaging myself. I am assuming you have done your research. You know all the pros and all the cons of having this done. So don't make an emotional decision. But an educated one. and then stick to it. It will all work out. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out, and I can tell this the absolute best thing I have done! wish I would have done it 2 years ago when I first thought about it.

I Had My Lap Band March 19Th
Ok....Let me put some thought into it this afternoon on how it might work best, and when I get home this evening I'll put something out there. If you have any suggestions as to what would make this work for everyone let me know. My first thought is that it might work well if we each have an assigned buddy. That way we could participate in the group thread but also would have someone to give us personal attention as well. ---We could even rotate our buddies every couple of weeks that way we get to know each other on a personal level. ---Would that be something you guys would be ok with?

Need To Shrink My Liver **help**
The best way to shrink your liver is by removing most carbs from your diet. The body uses carbs to make glucose for fuel. If you deprive it of carbs, it must use its back up plan of turning fat into glucose. This process is called ketosis. During ketosis the body will turn to burning the fat around the organs first (your liver)...thus shirking it. Depending on how strict you are with the diet you can lose a significant amount of weight quickly because the body will be using a lot of calories to turn fat into glucose.

Any Luck With Saltine Crackers
crakers aren't liquid....be careful......I actually called and got permission to move up to mushies on day 9 due to low sugars.....I hadn't had any problems what so ever in drinking the liquids. So she allowed me to begin the mushies, at the same time I added exercise to my schedule. the very first day i went out and walked 2miles, when I got back i was very thristy and went to drink some water and was very suprised when it didn't go down. That was not a good experience. I guess the exercise cause some swelling . Same thing happen the next day. Has that happen to anyone else? Are there other events/things that just make the band swell like that?....I don't have any fluid in the band so it has to be just swelling.

Help! Wavering With Hypoglycemia Six Days Postop
After 9 days of a liquid post-op diet, I began having low sugar levels.....like 50. I called the dietian and she asked me a few questions (making sure I wasn't having any swelling ) and then allowed me to move up to the mushie stage...that did it....now everything is back to normal..... Give your sugeons office a call first......you don't want to jump ahead and then have bigger issues.

March Bandsters!
I have Dermabond...doctor said not to get them soaked ...like in the bath tub, but it would be fine if they got a little wet, just to make sure to pat them dry. When I had stitches for something else I was told to keep them dry, so I would put a water proof bandage over them Same thing with the stri-strips.
