There are a lot of sf syrups that can add a lot of flavor. I mix sf carmal, sf vanilla and a little skim milk with my favorite coffee and bleanderize it with the protein and it is very smiliar to a starbucks iced coffee.

Frustrated
Just throw it out!! i have older children 17, 15, 13...i have always done something for the holiday...but this year i declared the easter bunny dead!! I gave each kid a movie ticket and a coupe bucks....I warned my in-laws that if they loaded the kids up with candy...it would be in trash before the end of the day. (BTW--2 of my children are struggling with weight issues....so no one really should be eating that crap anyways.

Problems- Surgeon Talking About Bypass
I have only been banded for a month so I may be off base...but are you chewing really well? I did have an episode where I ate something too quickly and didn't chew and had the same reaction....broke out in a sweat and my heart was racing....I could actually feel the food hit the band...and then grind itself open...it was awfull.---seems like votimting would be the next reaction. I know how easy it is for me to forget that I have to chew everything really well especially if I'm talking..haha Hang in there....don't let this bump in the road slow you down. Before you go through another surgery, make sure you have really done all you can do to make the band work for you. If it is a matter of recommitting to the life style, surround yourself with some supportive people and give it a try again. Plug back into this site and let everyone on hear cheer you on ...find a couple of people to help keep you accountable and just make sure that you want to give up what you fought so hard to get. Good luck..if you need a cheerleader on even someone to hold you accountable inbox me...I think you can do this

Pulled Stomach Muscle....
You don't have restriction yet so the ibuprofen wouldn't be sitting in the pouch so its ok.....it was your surgeon who told you to take it right? Ibuprophen is harsh for the normal persons system, so when a bandster taks it, its worse....it can sit in the pouch and irritate the linning....so most doctors what you to only take tylenol.

Alittle Confused :-/
If you have the bmi and the comorbidities, the most they can do is make you do the 6 month diet. High blood Pressure is definately a comorbidity ....don't think depressions is, but I could be wrong. Just jump through all the hoops and you will get there. Try not to get discouraged.

Failing!!!
Hi LuLu, welcome to the group, bandsters have good days and bad days....If you are wanting the band for a "easy" way out...its not. You have got to be willing to work at it. You have got to be willing to change bad habits and be open to creating new healthy ones. The band will be as successful as you let it be.....if you are determined to eat those "bad" foods, then then you will find a way to get them down. If you aren't willing to committ to seeing your surgeon regularly in the begining,....you won't find restriction and will continue to eat too much. BUT if you are willing to follow a few rules, then success is in your future. I'm only about a month out, and It is already the best thing to happen to me in a long time.....I feel 5 years younger already!! So spend some time and educate yourself on the bandster's way of life......its not for everyone, but if you are willing to committ to it......you wont regrett it.

Alittle Confused :-/
Which tricare? north?south? standard or prime. I have tricare north/standard I was able to sign up on line and was able to check on the status of my approval. It took a week. Is your Bmi 40 or 35 with co-morbidities?

Vegetables
During pre-op I stuck to the low carb veggies. I would put spinach in my broth and would eat celery, broccoli, cucumbers as my other veggetable serving.

Success - Sometimes Bitter Sweet?
I think its all in the way we carry ourselves. I was actually skinney until about 8 years ago....I have had a few encounters with people who were judging me because I wasn't a average size....but I noticed that I didn't put myself out there anymore when I became heavy.............I would constantly judge myself, so why would I expect others not to.

Question Number 2
What type job you got that they make you do sit-ups!! Thats crazy!! I wouldn't attempt it...even if you could do a couple....you might not pass the minium. But you may need an excuse note from your doctor.

Question For The Ladies
I think the tampons would be ok....but it might hurt a little more tending to them the first few days...A pad might be easier but you could try.

Pre-Op Testing Scheduled And Nervous
I'm so sorry about your loss...that probably makes the decision even harder.....I get that. The surgery is not without risk.....BUT it is minimal.........I had the same kind of feelings...I even had a close cousin die shortly after having WSL-sleeve at the age of 42....so that played heavily on my mind.....but heres the thing....I could notice my health detoriating the last 18 months......I could no longer do the things I used to....I actually started to fear that I might not be here 10 years from now.......So I KNEW I was headed to an early grave if I didn't do this.....where the odds off something happening during the surgery is so minimal.............I was good with it. I'm only a little over 3 weeks out and I feel like I have turned back the hands of time....I already feel 5 years younger!! I see myself getting stronger EVERY day. At 10 days out, it took me 45 mins to walk 2 miles.....Yesterday, at day 24....I did it in less than 30 mins!!!Next week I hope to have it done to 25 min. I have been able to get back outside and kick the soccer bal around with the kids and play some basketball with my son!!!---It has been wonderfull. But the best part is......2 of my kids struggle with their weight. My son (13) sees me watching what I'm eating and exercising...and sees how much better I feel............suddenly he is educating himself on foods and doing crunches and the elliptical everyday....he has lost 12 pounds in the last 3 weeks!!! My daughter who is 17 was just diagnosed with the PCOS like I have 2 months ago....she is really struggling to get the weight off, but she is trying.....she is walking with me every day and had cut her carbs from probably 150 a day to 50....she has lost about 5 pounds....but its the habits she is making (and breaking) that will make the difference. My point is.......your kids will see you get health and maybe....with a little luck....you can break this cycle for them!! and they wont suffer with these problem when they are your age.

Banded Yesterday!
Congrats!! Just to prepare you, I felt worse on day 3 and 4. But it felt more like it was from the hernia repairs ( I had 2, 1 hyatial, 1 umbilical) plus I had a lot of adhessions removed. Just be prepared...I felt like I was a little abnormal compared to others that seemed to bounce right back.

How Long I Need To Wait
I'm 3 weeks post-op. Feel great !! I would like to start doing more abdominal exercises but didn't think to ask the doctor when it would be ok to start. I had two hernias (one hyatial and one umbilical), and a lot of adhessions removed. I have been doing some very light abdominal exercises, with no problem and I think I'm ready to do a little more. How long did you guys wait? BTW-I called the office today, the Surgeon and the Nurse practioner are both gone to a conference untill the 17th.....so unless I call the on-call doctor (don't want to do that), no one can give me an answer untill then.

What Would You Do??
I was under the weather the day of surgery....I didn't have a fever, so I went ahead with it. Like dhales...I woke up feeling a lot better (in regards to the cold/allergies) of course it might be that thing where if you have a paper cut how it bugs you a hundred times during the day, but then if your hit my a mac truck....the paper cut doesn't seem to matter anymore!!---hahaha If you don't have a fever, then I would go through with it....its probably allergies.

Can I Lose 9 Pounds Before Next Friday?
You need the protein.....I wouldn't give those up. Just make sure you find one with the biggest bang for your calorie. If you stay on liquids I don't think the laxative will work. They make over the counter water pills, that may take a pound off. But be carefull, don't get dehydrated.

Telling Friends And Family
Well I was to just tell people if they asked and I told my family. My husband even asked what I wanted him to say to people at his work....I told him the same thing. Then my husband , trying to keep eveyone informed, put it on faceook. So then everyone knew from those that I went to school with 25 years ago to my students in my classes. I wasn't trying to be private about it, but there is a difference in telling people and telling the PEOPLES!! Anyway I deleted his posts when I found out a cople of days later, but a large group obviously now know....which is ok.....He didn't mean any harm...he just wasn't thinking....he knew I was going to tell people so he thought it was ok..........MEN sometimes. I'm still a little angery....but trying not to be.
