plus I can't imagine have to listen to my husbands good awful snoring just out of surgery. Lol. I'm on the couch as we speak I'm so irritated. Lol!
I have 3 kids and another every other weekend. I could use a break. An iPod a book. Stomach chopped to heck. Sounds divine.

its kind of the same as when a person is heavier- they dont realize it.. But then you go some where and catch yourself in a mirror and youre like, Oh Yeah- I am that fat... hmmm.... and you forget... Being bigger yes you may not be able to do certain things a skinny or more in shape person may do, but you certainly never feel as big as you may be...

I was so tempted to do that! Instead I started my pre-op diet early! The thing is, you are NOT giving up all your favorite foods forever. I am 6 wks out and can eat anything. My sister and I had the sleeve together and last weekend we went on a double date w/our hubbies. We went to a great chinese place, ordered what we wanted, ate until we were full and got to enjoy the leftovers for a few more meals. We ordered pizza the other day and I had a few bites of crust then ate the toppings. You will still be able to eat what you are craving but you will have a few bites, be satisfied and full, then go on with your life. That ,my dear, is the magic of the sleeve!

We have all had our own experiences, which is why it is a personal decision. The prices almost all include the same thing (in my case, 2 nights in hospital and 2 nights in hotel also) it just comes down to who you choose and who you are comfortable with. . I would base NONE of this on who is cheaper, rather who you find gives you the right vibe. . That's why we are all here, to help each other make the right decision for ourselves.

I am using a lighter me for Dr. Garcia. The price includes a hotel night stay before surgery, 2 days hospital stay in a private room with a bed for your guest, 2 more nights in hotel after surgery. I have never been told something false from the coordinators. I do not know what is going on there but they have been easy to work with answered all my questions. They are willing to do basically anything I have asked. So no problems here with alighterme. com. I am VERY happy with my decision to use Dr. Garcia and he is also cheaper. The price of $4500 is only good on the week of May 14th and June 11th otherwise I am paying $5000 for everything.

When I first started looking into this a few months ago, I read good stuff about Dr. Kelly on Obesityhelp.com. Then went to their website and he was on it, but when I inquired I was directed to Dr. Garcia. This bothered me because I got no explanation. That said, Dr. Garcia is fantastic and you will find a LOT of good things about him on here.
I chose Dr. Kelly because when I talked to him for the first time, I just felt comfortable. I also felt comfortable with Dr. Aceves and Dr. Alvarez. I ended up choosing Dr. Kelly because of many reasons and one of them was that I had to just PICK one. It wasn't about cost or anything else at all. I am very happy with my interactions with them and constant communications.
Do your research and you will figure out who is best for you! I would recommend that you not choose on $$ alone, but rather who you are comfortable with. I also rec. a hospital over a clinic or strip mall. This is MAJOR abdominal surgery!
Good luck with your decision! I am scheduled June 14th with Dr. Kelly.

I drink that now and I havent been sleeved.. I get mine at Vitamin world.. they have several diffrnt types of whey protiens, but he mentioned that whey Isolates can be easier to digest.. its just what he said I dunno- never had a problem with milk myself just needed more protien.. Anyway.. the one i get, it may not be any different that others, but it about 33 bucks but there is almost always coupons.. it is 140 cal. and 30 grams of protien.. I mix one scoop per 8 oz of liquid.. the liquid I chose is a light soy which is 60 cal.per 8 oz.. and some additional protien.. it also helps to make me full- as being non sleeved as of yet.. the have other whey's and lots of flavors and i have no idea what the differences are.. u gotta find what works best for you.. the good thing about a nutritiion vitamin like store is that you can ask the people questions you may have.. some of them actually have alot of insight and are quite smart.. I also use a shaker bottle only cuz i am too lazy to wash a blender- but when I am not too lazy i add in some fruit.. i like choc and banana cuz i am cool like that..

silenceshhh reacted to Jaclynann in Has Anyone Gone To Mexico To Be Sleeved?
    Hi Sarah,
I just wanted to let you know that I was in Mexico for my surgery on Jan 9 2012. I am also Canadian, (just across the Water from you), and I was very nervous as I had never even gone to a restaurant alone!! let alone travel to another country. I had my surgery performed by Dr. Kelly, and I could not be happier. He is very experienced. He has been doing the sleeve operation a lot longer than most of the other doctors that you could choose from. He is running his own booking service now, which is better for his patients. He offers the same service as all the other coordinators, but you have a direct line to him and his services. The hospital that he uses is top notch, the staff speak english, and the rocovery hotel is 5 star. I had to go alone, and in the end I was glad that I did. The last thing I wanted to do, was have to worry about my companion being bored. I flew down to San Diego on a Sunday, got picked up and taken to the hotel, Monday morning I was taken to the hospital, had all the pre-op tests done, and then I was in for my surgery by 11am. Phoned home that evening to let my husband know everything went well. I was not sick, sore, burpy or any of the other complaints that I have been hearing about from other people. In fact the 2 other Dr. Kelly patients on my floor felt really good too. I can't say the same for the patients of the other doctor. After the leak test on Wednesday morning I was taken back to the hotel to stay until I was to catch my return flight home in a couple of days. Dr. Kelly even came to the hotel just to check on me and have a visit. You would never get that kind of treatment in any Canadaian or U.S. hospital.
Pack light, you really don't need anything more than pj's and casual clothes. A laptop came in very handy, as you have wi-fi in the hotel and the hospital. I brought my Good luck!
lIphone too, so I could "face chat" with my husband. (just remember to get an international plan for the thime you are there)

Suzanne where do you live? I like your attitude about "don't think about what if something goes wrong" because I honestly get a little hung up on that. Picturing myself going back to mexico with a leak because I can't afford the gazillion dollars it would cost me to be corrected here in the US. I love your positive attitude. Please keep us motivated.

I have not been sleeved. I believe I will sometime in the future. I am worried about the obvious as I also have an added bonus of not being insured for this procedure which means self pay. So probably then to Mexico I go.
I am not looking for doctor bashing or anything like that. And obviously those of you have suffered greatly or know someone who has, youre in my thoughts and I wish you to be better.
    My questions:

In the beginning, Did you follow all the recomended precautions like the liquid diets a few weeks ahead and then Clear liquids?
Did you do pre op and post op test? Did your dr. check over for leaks, if so when?
Did you follow the reccomended liquid diets after? and the blended solid diet there after?
Did you pick up heavy things or over do it?
    Who was your Dr.?
What kind of reaction did you have and how did you know something was wrong?

Again not looking for bashing just facts.. Nor am I trying offended anyone.
    Thanks in advance.
ps.. i did see the previous post with some listings of what and where they were, I guess I am just looking for more info.. If you are willing to share I would love to hear.

i just want to say I am not picking dr kelly because of trish.. it helps but that is not the reason.. There are two other drs at another facility that i def. know are not for me, there are other drs i wouldnt mind going to that i may not be able to afford, and honestly feel guilty spending the money as a mother of four and a wife, I am sure you other ladies get that.. But i still want to do

From what I know and have read this can be largly beacause you are not getting enough protien. You wouldnt believe the difference it can make, and I say this personally.. Ihave not had this surgery as of yet, but I have battled with protien issues and I am finally regulated and grew back all the hair I lost. Protien is sooo important is my point..
obviously age and genetics can also have play.. I actually went to a hair expert and she said that i had alopecia and had to get used to it and to look for a wig or start on a rogaine. I did an expirement with protien and kept it up as I saw my hair growing in. I had always had a pretty obvious widows peak that had been missing for about 3 years and its almost completely back.
The average adult should be getting anywhere from 60-80 grams a protien a day. Maybe with not being hungary you are not getting enough protien.. Just a thought..but if that is the issue you have to stick with it or it wont happen..

Interesting and disturbing all at once! I used Dr Kelly 11 months ago today Love him. I also had Trish as my coordinator and she was amazing... sad the things that are going one with her, Dr Kelly and Sandy
Here is Trish's website: http://www.wls4betterlife.com/index.html she is still coordinating for Dr Kelly and several surgeons. I spoke to her personally last week. There are several hospitals that they are working with.
Best advise find the surgeon you want to use... then pick the coordinator you want to work with, then schedule. Having Trish on the ground right at the hospital was important to me. Dr Kelly did his magic with the surgery and Trish helped me have a smooth worry free recovery. I am blessed to have found them both!

I had surgery with Dr. Kelly on 11/4/11 and he is now using a new hospital and a new hotel. Whereever he is, it's worth it. He is the best. I had a great surgery and an awesome recovery.
