Swedish Adjustable Gastric Band
Hi Rohanna I have an AMI...Swedish AGB. I love my band An AMI is (11mm) which is taller then an Inamed band. Total capacity is 9.7cc's. I'm at 5.7cc's since 1-23-04 and seem to be filled just right. I might have a kink in my tubing, but won't know till I have my next fill which will be done under floroscopy. I'm still restricted so it will be awhile before I get my next fill. Welcome to the forum

Congratulation:cool: I knew you where getting tweaked when you wrote......I'm planning on going with my band twin to her fill appointment tomorrow and I too have an appointment...I'm going to talk with the PA who does our fills and see what she thinks...it just sucks that my only day off after working 6 days I have to waste on a 4 hour drive to Milwaukee and back...oh well! I would have too. Just curious, What did your PA say.. If your too tight will you have some removed? (I don't think that'll happen) Whats your total fill amount? ONEderland:banana

I Made Up My Mind
Julie In the case of Fill doctors...Many will not touch NON-Inamed bands. When doing your research for a fill dr, ask If they will fill any type of band? You may want to demand an Inamed band for this reason. I have an AMI (swedish) band and am very happy with it, but have heard of others haveing problems finding a fill doctor. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Finally broke the under 180lbs!
Donali I always enjoy reading your posts...and everyone else's too... Just the other day I was trying to explain the band to a friend and her responses was "Its a LIFE-style change" exactly I said. I have gotten the comment "When will you have the band removed?" My response "Never, Its for life" (At least I hope it is) Which brings up something I read stating that the band should be replaced in about 10-12 years? Has anyone heard of this? Leo Congrats again!

Would you get a fill? HELP
If your fills are free and you have them done under fluoroscopy then I would be curious to see a barium flow, how tight you really are? I myself think I'm about right cause I can eat small amounts without PBs but I'm also at a plateau. If your fills are free or your have the $$ I'd go for a tweak, just be careful. But you know that.

Banding may be postponed :(
Kathy I remember before I had my gallbladder out that I was suffering ulcerative colitis. The doctors kept saying "your pancreas is pissed off you should get your gallbladder removed" and I was not Diabetic. They did blood tests weekly. I waited 4 months before I had it removed. At the time I was in more pain with my colitus issues that I just op to have it removed without questioning any further. Please do keep us posted.

Banding may be postponed :(
I would op to have your Gull-bladder removed at the same time as placing your band. My history is a C-section 11/97, Gull-bladder removed 03/00, Colon removed 05/00, C-section 07/01, Band placement 08/03. The reason I show my surgery history is that I can take surgeries well in general, some people can not. My scars from gull bladder removal are with-in 1/4 inch from Lap-band scars. Does your doctor intend to wait for your scars to heal to then cut approx. right on top of them to place your band. With my C-sections as well the doctor cut right over the previous scar. I know scars are not the issue, and everyone heals differently. I have a friend who had a c-section then 3 days later had her tubes tied because her insurance would not let her have it done at the same time(I had my tubes tied right after my baby was delivered). If there are other risks, illnesses involved everything has to be taken into consideration. Personally I would have them done together, and have heard of others who have had Gull-bladders removed at the same time as placing a band. As I see on the date you may have allready been in surgery. Good luck and keep us posted

Stuck in a rut
I'm struct in a rut too "Any ideas on what to satisfy my sweet-tooth, and by the way, it's also the mouth-feel of the chewing and the texture of the bad stuff that I like so much. I don't really want to replace one binge food with another, but I need something guilt-free." So with YA! The one thing I do know is "I don't eat half as much as I use to....If that I relate, love your story,.inspiration ...you are:cool:
