  1. Having your period start after surgery is pretty normal....I was lucky mine didnt start until day 5 when I was finally at home (I spent 2 days in the hosptial and 2 days with my aunt)
  2. I stayed with my aunt and uncle for 2 days before returning home....I was ready to leave after 1 night, but my aunt insisted I stay 2 nights like I did in the hospital
  3. I was self pay for my revision, insurance had a total exclusion on any WLS....so I paid $18K for my revision, and I was able to have it all done in one procedure....it was 3 hour procedure, but he was able to do it....
  4. you can order it through amazon.com but my local store carries it where the protien powders are, so I grabbed some there...
  5. when you move to solids you will know, trust me, you will know....I felt the same when I was on pureeds, and my NUT told me to just wait until I move to soft solids...and when I felt it I was pleasantly surprised... Now everyone has a different full signal, from pain in the shoulder to like me, you just feel uncomfortable if you take another bite.....I have spat up before, mainly because I wasnt paying attention to eating and I was shoveing food in my mouth and talking...that was a lesson learned.... you will know when you are full...
  6. Its good, I add it to my chocolate protein shakes to make them taste like a reese's cup....the jar is a nice size and yea it costs $5 but the way we go through food now, $5 can go a long way
  7. 2 weeks is ok....there are alot of people who go back to work after 2 weeks, just return to light duty, no lifting of heavy stuff.... I had mine done the first week after going on summer break in June, so I had the whole summer to recover....I honestly didnt feel back to "normal" until week 4
  8. Chobani and now I am in love with Noosa, its a Australian yogurt, I add a scoop of unflavored protein to it as well as 1/4C of fresh fruit.....its great!
  9. I dont focus on how much carbs I am allowed anymore, I focus on making my carb choices more complex carb choices...and its keeping me regular
  10. Was self-pay, but I had revision surgery....I went through Texas Laparscopic Associates (TLC) Dr. Sherman Yu....he also does the single-incision if you are willing to pay the extra money for it....but him and Dr. Scarbrough specializes in Lap procedures... They are awesome and the staff is very supportive before-during-after the process
  11. sf popsciles and Jello...try to hang in there....I did it for 3 weeks (the extra week was by choice, I know glutton for punishment) I hit "the wall" on day 3, once I got past day 3, it was smooth sailing... you can do it! stay positive!!!!
  12. 1) depends on your policy....I had a total exclusion on any WLS so I had to pay out of pocket for my revision 2) I would have done it again in a heart beat! I'm 7 months post-revision and my life has been great! with the lapband I only lost 40 pounds, then gained it back and then some...with the sleeve I have restriction, I'm doing the right things and it is paying off....love it!
  13. Oh yeah, the doctors will tell you that if they see erosion or any major problems, they will remove the band and you will have to undergo a second procedure for the sleeve, but it can be done.. I praise God mine was done in 1 procedure, it took him 3 hours, due to scar tissue, but he was able to do it...
  14. If you want something bad enough you will compromise to get it....its not like you have to gain 25 pounds or something...its 8 pounds, Water weight.....drink alot of water before the appt and you'll probably make it.... Insurance companies say these things just to get these kinds of responses out of people, to discourage you from doing it.... If you want it, you will not let 8 pounds stand between you and success! And I am entitled to my opinion, if you dont want it, dont post questions on the public forum!
  15. Hell, stop complaining and gain the weight already.....atleast I would, I had to pay for my revision on my own, so if your insurance wants to pay for it, let them...
  16. I'm in Houston, and I had mine done for $18K....that included 2 days stay in the hosptial
  17. I'm 7 months out at well....you probably need to see your doc about a acid reducer....I'm not hungry all the time, I have the opposite problem, when I eat food that is has a large amount of protien, I am usually full for a good 4 hours, which is a problem because my doc and NUT wants me to eat 1200 calories a day and if left alone I can eat 800-1000 and be fine, so I find myself eating small meals every 3 hours or so because I dont eat past 9pm.... Go see your doc!
  18. There's a lady in my support group who keeps kids for a living and she has lost over 90 pounds so far just watching what she eats, getting in her protien and doing her job.... My doctor told me that with WLS there is a percentage of weight that will come off just from having the surgery, he estimated 120 pounds for me...anything beyond that will be on me working hard and staying active.... SO it is possible, depends on your goals
  19. Hey yall I'm AskBelieveRecieve on MFP! I'm seeking Texas folks for buddies!
  20. at 6 weeks I was eating 800 calories a day...at 4 months I was told to increase to 1200 and I thought my doc and nut were mad...lol, but I have and I am losing at a somewhat healthy rate
  21. So what do you do to release stress??
  22. I had mines done in one surgery...took him 2 half hours, but he and the surgoen assisting him was able to do it...I'm 7 months out and I feel great!
  23. True, but atleast they have someone to get it on with...
  24. My doc warned me, but its different to be warned then to actually go through it....I haven't had sex in 2 years (a refuse to use the word celibate, hate it) I just have been focused on my research... I'm 7 months post op, and 2 weeks ago its like I've been hit with the "horny bug" I want sex....problem, I'm single...but I want sex, so I dont like being single right now... The only thing that has kept me sane right now are my toys....thank goodness for them....but I want a man! LOL
