  1. Thank you everyone for everything! A friend suggested that I take Tagamet and I took a pill 30 before I ate on Sunday and everything in my pouch came up....so I waited another hour before I ate and I was fine, actually had an okay night...but I could still feel the acid when I laid down in bed.... I just read online that sleeping pills makes acid reflux worse...I've been having to take them every night since I started this school year, its the only way I can get some sleep....but I see I'm going to have to stop them some how.... I'm going to take your suggestion to see if I can get to the doctor sooner...
  2. this is a question for those of you who have experienced erosion....what are the signs?? Over the last week I've been having really really bad acid reflux, even during the day.....to the point that I have a hard time sleeping at night, like I'm choking on my saliva (I know graphic, but its the truth) Even sitting up in my recliner I have reflux.... What did you experience?? I'm glad I have decided to get this band out of me, but that's not until June....I have a doctor appt on Feb 2nd and I hope everything is ok and it stays ok until June, but this week has been more horrible than the last 7 years with this band in me!
  3. HI, love the quote!
  4. Hey, great idea....lets get this group active.....so what shall we do first??? any suggestions???
  5. Ok, cool beans! I understand the whole lack of family support....my family hasn't come out and said, NO! we are not going to support you! But everytime we have get togethers people ask me, are you sure you want to do this??which can also be frustrating... I'm having my surgery in June...
  6. I'm a member of the YMCA and I love it....its more of a family atmosphere....not alot of skinny's prancing around and men staring at you....but there are kids....atleast at the one I goto....but I dont mind the kids, I'm a teacher
  7. I actually been throwing the idea around in my head of creating a meetup on meetup.com for Houston Area Sleevers....I'm already an organizer of a social group on there....but yes I dont mind chatting, or meetup up for lunch or something to talk! It would be the start of a great support team!
  8. COngrats! I'm looking forward to a similar NSV....the steering wheel not touching my tummy! ))
  9. congrats...you're there, you're there!! you must feel great!!
  10. I former supervisor of mine had the VBG done...that's the one when they place a metal band around your stomach as well as staple it...she lost over 140 pounds, and has been successful for the last 6 years....you are confusing the two surgeries...the sleeve is a VSG = vertical sleeve gasrectomy...
  11. Hiya!! Southwest Houston here!! Where are you??
  12. Luv this topic....I know mines is crazy! I want to one day wear one of those big pretty black belts around my waist.....without worrying about it rolling up around my sides...
  13. I self-paid in 2005 for my lapband...to now have to self-pay for revision...all because my insurance still refuses to let employees have WLS....I would say its worth it....even though my lapband was a failure....I am willing to pay to have the sleeve done, I believe it will work this time!!
  14. My friends have overall had mixed opinions about my decision....I believe I will lose some, but you have to realize those who you lose were'nt truly your friends to begin with.... I've only shared the fact that I am having the procedure done with a few....all of my family know, they are VERY supportive....I've told only maybe 5 friends and 3 co-workers....
  15. Thanks for sharing....I'm actually looking forward to my procedure in June
  16. ok...now I'm concerned...what is the usual procedure when you are revising to the sleeve...I too have a lapband that needs to be removed.....I guess I need to ask now....I know the reason why I haven't gained anymore weight is because my band is still filled (even though I have only lost a few pounds with it in 7 years)
  17. I'm so sorry for your loss...I too loss my mom, it happened a year before my lapband surgery...I will not say it will be ok, but I will say pray pray pray, stay focused, your mom would not want you to be in pain or hurt yourself because of grief.... I will keep you in pray....
  18. I told all of my family and only a few close friends.....some are supportive, I have family who still asks me every once in a while if I am still planning to do it (my date is in June 2012) my close friends asks questions and understand why I desire to do this (to live a healthy life and have a family) and I only asked them not to share it with others, so far their lips have been sealed...
  19. Make sure you keep your hands busy, doing non-food related things....lol I'm pre-op for sleeve, but remember the liquid phase when I was getting my lapband...just keep busy.... I will pray for ya!
  20. I picked mine through word of mouth...spoke with 2 people who had the procedure and they both recommended him.....plus it doesnt hurt that he's been on a reality show about weightloss...
  21. friend of mine had a husband like that....the key word is "had"....after having Gastric Bypass surgery and losing almost 200 pounds he didnt change, now she's in the process of getting a divorce....and he's SUPPOSE to be a preacher.... No one should take abuse, life is too short, either being overweight or thin, to take abuse from anyone....I'll tell you what I told her, you have to be make yourself happy, and dont use the kids as a excuse, having 2 unhappy people in their life will do more harm than you staying there!
  22. I'm in Houston and the price I was quoted was $17500 but I'm having revision surgery....and the price includes insurance against any complications that may occur
  23. well it looks like you have to use the photo tab at the top of the page...then if you never created an album you create one then you are able to upload photos.... have you tried the tab at the top of the page???
  24. ITs a good day when you have to go shopping for new undergear! congrats
