I like the Unjury brand chocolate splendor flavor. But... I have just started Body By Vi shakes and that is soooo good. You can get in on Amazon.com. The the Body By Vi shake, I add 2 tsp of sugar/fat free instant pudding and it is just delish!

I have the Realize band too and my first fill was 5 cc. I go for my next fill on the 25th and I have no idea how much he will put in! I have had some restriction with the 5 cc's.

KathyOfAlabama got a reaction from lifebegins2012 in To Measure Or Not. Will I Regret It If I Don't?
I had read tons of posts on here before my surgery, all so very helpful. I did take my measurements before surgery so that when I seem stuck at a particular weight, I can measure and compare to what I started with. Its strange, but when I look in a mirror, I don't see a different body, but, looking at measurements, I know there has been change. I have not told a single soul what my numbers are, that information is just for me! I personally would have regretted not doing it. As far as your weight loss... by all means count your pre-op loss!!!! It is part of your journey! Best of luck to you!

I had posted the same thing not long ago. I am four weeks out and it is much better than it was. Everyone has an opinion as to what causes it. I blame it on rebellion. Just my insides protesting the lack of food and then what is there is something healthier than what its used to being fed!

I had to be niccotine free for 6 weeks prior to surgery. Being niccotine free meant to Patches or gum or anything. I did it, and they didn't just take my word for it! I had to do a urine test to check. Almost 3 weeks post op and haven't smoked! Good luck to you!

I think we have all gone through that "morning after" period. Please just believe all of us when we tell you it will get better, but it is going to take some time. Your stomach is going to be sore... like killer sore muscles. Time will fix it. As for the dry mouth, that is from the anesthesia.. chapstick is your friend. You were probably prescribed something for nausea, be sure to take it and you can always take childrens liquid Tylenol for pain. I am 2 weeks put today and feeling better everyday! You'll get there, keep your eye on the prize! We are ALL in your corner!

I think that with no fill you are doing great! A half cup of food is probably 1/3 (at least!) of what you are before! And, you are making much better choices! Hope I do as well!

I am feeling pretty good. I still have some pain, like having sore muscles, and there still is a pulling feeling sometimes when getting up from a lying position. Today is the first day that I really am wishing for something more... like protien shake or cream Soup. Not till Monday though. What about you? Hows your pain level?

Well, I check in tomorrow morning at 5:30 for surgery. I was not required to do a pre-op diet, just clear liquids and the "fun prep" today. I have my broths, SF popsicles and SF Jello ready for week one. I don't add protien shakes till week 2. Mixed emotions this evening. I am excited and happy one minute and the next I think what in the world am I doing???? I sure am thankfull that I stumbled upon this site.. everyone has been so helpful and informative. Its scary kinda cuz I have read peoples recovery stories and they range from being up and about, feeling great first day all the way to being dead would be easier! I guess I can just hope for the best! Wishing all the rest of the February group the best and speedy rocoveries to those yet to go! See ya on the other side!

KathyOfAlabama reacted to elcee in Dont Get A Lapband
Your Dr seems to have been negligent so because of that you advise everybody that they should not get a lapband.
People get organ transplants and their bodies reject them - would you advise them not to get the transplant?
Women get pregnant and die in childbirth - does that mean people should stop getting pregnant?
You can get MRSA in hospital - does that mean noone should go into hospital.
You can have surgery for something minor and end up dead because of a blood clot or some other unforeseen complication.
You can take medication and have a serious allergic or anaphylactic reaction - should everyone give up taking medicine.
Yes you have had a bad experience and I am sorry about that. It sounds as though the NHS or whoever it is in Scotland messed up. That is hardly a good reason to advise others not to go ahead. If you want to caution others maybe you should make them aware of the risks of this particular Dr or the NHS in general.
Life itself is risky. There are no guarantees. Imagine trying to live your life without taking any risks - that life would be no life at all. You wouldn't be able to go outside your front door because you could get struck by lightning or run over by a bus. You certainly couldn't go in a car as that is one of the most dangerous things people do every day. But staying at home is dangerous too, that is where most accidents happen. You could:-
    Have a fall
    Burn yourself
    Get electrocuted
Be poisoned by food, or chemicals or gas or plants
You certainly wouldn't want to have sex as that could involve catching a life threatening STI
You would probably be so bored sitting in your room wrapped in cotton wool to protect you and keep you warm that you would over indulge in food and then you would get fatter and fatter and fatter and probably die prematurely anyway from a stroke or heartattack

I won't be banded till the 20th, but I have been looking at protien items. I think that the light Baby Bell cheese would be an excellent snack. I can't remember exactly the calorie and protien count off hand, but its on my shopping list, so must not bee too bad!

KathyOfAlabama got a reaction from Pam72 in Hello Tricare Lap Band Surgery Questions
Hi CeCe! Congrats on your decision to take control! I was recently approved through Tricare for the lap band. It was not a long process at all. My PCM sent in a referal for the bariatric doctor of my choice and then they sent in the request for approval and it took just 3 days to be approved! There is some confusion at the moment as to whether or not a Tricare patient has to undergo 6 months of doctor monitored dieting, but mine went through without having to do that. I wish you the best of luck!

KathyOfAlabama got a reaction from SkinnyMiniMe in Gotta Quit Smoking...
Thanks all for your suggestions and support. Shortly after posting this I had set my quit date for Jan 4. Right now I am feeling quite confident that I CAN do this! SkinnyMini.... your surgeon makes perfect sence... If I want to have this surgery to be healthy, why would I want to continue to smoke? My surgeon is a stickler on this requirement and I fully believe he will do a urine test before setting my surgery date. So, here's to a new, healthier year to all of us!
