Meli01 got a reaction from Spatters3 in I Made It To Goal!
I seriously never thought this day would come, but just short of 6 months post op I am at goal. I really thought I would be the person this surgery didn't work for. I haven't been this small since elementary school, and I couldn't be happier!!!

Congrats. How much did you lose? I also just hit 6 months and lost total of 75 lbs. Haven't lost in 4 weeks anything but being I have never had a stall I ain't complaining. I'm pretty close to my goal anyway.

Meli01 got a reaction from MaryR in Seeking Female Wls Buddy To Text
I am from the San Jose area. I started out at 233 and i am now 164. My doctor had me on Prilosec for 2 months after surgery to help with the heartburn. I never had a problem before surgery but if I forgot to take my Prilosec in the morning I was hurting. Now that I'm almost 4 months out I don't have heartburn anymore.

Hi Mary-
My surgery was in March and I am a 30 year old female. I am also from California. My starting weight was 233.

I understand the male dominated situation. The next time he makes a comment like that simply smile and say, "So when will your mom be here to sing?". I know it seems juvenile but it will shut him up out of shock that you can be just as much of a smart a*&!

My surgery was almost 4 months ago and only one of my incisions is still visible. I had 4 total incisions and the larger one above my belly button is still a little dark, I'm really hoping it fades like the other ones have.

My only regret is that I didn't have this surgery sooner. I didn't have any complications at all. I had to take small sips the first week out of surgery, but now I can drink Water just like I used to. I feel better and have more energy than I have had in years.

Meli01 reacted to mesaucedo in Finals Nsv!
So today I took my Experimental Psych final and was kind of nervous about climbing into the seats. Our lecture halls have smallish seats and no space to crawl over people if you come in late. A year ago, in the same hall, I actually had to stay and wait for everyone to finish in my row so I could crawl out without literally squishing someone. Not to mention that I couldn't put the desk down all the way - my thighs were too big -- and it dug into my tummy and I was squeezed on both sides from teh arm rests.
WELL! Today, I fit nicely in the seats, WITH EXTRA SPACE! My desk went down all the way and I was able to slither my way out of the row when I finished my exam without any embarrassment.
I have never felt so happy to fit into a damn seat. I was beaming through my whole exam .

Meli01 got a reaction from bean406 in New Here! I Was "sleeved" On 5/9/12.
Good luck! I hope you find some good puréed food ideas. I got through that stage on refried Beans and Protein Shakes. My liquid diet was 2 weeks pre-op, 2 weeks post-op so by the time I was allowed soft foods refried beans tasted amazing and were all I wanted to eat.

Of course.. Everyday until I had it. We all were scared. But what got me through was the thought that one day the person I know is on the inside will be on the outside. A better life. Happier. This tool that we have chosen has been the answer to my prayers. Almost 50 pounds down in 6 weeks. And I know it will stay off.

Meli01 got a reaction from simplyQuel in Caloric Intake Is It Too Low
I try to keep my calories under 600. I was sleeved march 12th. At my last Dr. visit he said that my calorie intake was perfect and keeping it low makes a stall less likely. My weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I think I'm right on track to get to goal by 6 months.
Good luck figuring out what works for you!!

Meli01 reacted to Mab in Seriously People?
My favorite thing about this board has always been that despite the number of repeated questions and very similar posts, I haven't seen anyone react negatively to those posts. Until now.
I think it's great that you are able to intellectualize the way weight loss works, LadyIvy. However, I hope that as a result of your post people will NOT stop posting about concerns they have - rational or not - and I hope that there will always be compassionate people to reassure them with kindness rather than frustration and aggravation.
