Surgery July 2011. I think this photo was taken in late 2014, but I've maintained the same weight, more or less, since losing a hundred pounds.

    128lbs this morning. Thanks Sarah.
Ohhh, just realised I reached 50% weight loss today, 256 to 128. I am exactly 50% the weight I was preop. I have lost half of me :)

I finished my half marathon this morning! Not only did I survive, but I finished over a minute faster than I'd trained for. My goal was to finish in under three hours. My training pace would have me finishing in about 2:45, but I finished in 2:43:44, which is especially impressive when you factor in that it took me about three minutes just to get up to the start line once the horn blew, because it was so crammed with people and I didn't even have room to start running until I was a good 25 yards past the start line. So here's all the proof you've been waiting for:

Right before the start... it was only 35 degrees out, so I wore the jacket until the last possible second, then handed it off to my husband.

"Running" down the chute to the finish line. I was barely moving at this point....

    Almost there....

    I made it!!!

Happy, despite being near death. Showing off my metal and the flowers my sister-in-law brought me.

At lunch with my husband and some friends after I survived the race. Wearing my race shirt and showing off my metal again.
Here's a link to a little video of the start and finish:

I’m sure most BariatricPal members have heard of, if not avidly watched, The Biggest Loser on NBC. It's a reality show in which overweight contestants compete to see who can lose the most weight during the season. The show largely focuses on extreme workouts.
I just came across this article reporting that the winner of Season 5, Ali Vincennt, gained back all of the 112 lbs. she had lost on the show. She started at 234, weighed in at 122 lbs for the finale, and is now back at 234 lbs. Her regain includes a year in which she gained 70 lbs.
Like the show or not, and agree with its methods or not, you have to feel for Vincennt. All of us who have fought obesity know how hard the fight is. Keeping weight off is often harder than losing it in the first place. Regaining weight is embarrassing and discouraging, but all too common.
As a weight loss surgery patient, what are your thoughts on this? Do you think the show could do more to help its contestants keep the weight off for the long term? How will you learn from Vincennt’s situation to help yourself keep the weight off after you hit goal weight?

2 lbs down. Not the best, but not the worst. Soon I will just be severely obese and not morbidly obese. A total of 70lbs is gone. I am three pounds away from my Easter goal. Let's get it!

I'm 6.5 months and 82lbs down. I went for my 6 months follow up Friday and the dr was very pleased. He feels like I should more than reach my goal by 1 year out.
